Game graphics and Radeon 6970 settings help

Hello guys,

my game is running but i want to improve graphics because i have some flickerings and strange horizontal lines (3 blue lines at horizon). And also i got little freezing sometimes. I need some help for graphics and VGA settings please. The game patched to latest version.

My system:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.3 GHz
8 Gb RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6970 VGA
64 Bit Win7

Thanks in advance.

I have a Radeon HD6970 as well, am generally very happy with how the game runs now but those 3 blue lines at the horizon are seriously bothersome, they also go through clouds and stuff. I unfortunately have not found a solution to this yet, seems to me to be something about the way the sky renders on ATI Radeon cards.

I dont know about your other issues.

I run the game myself with everything maxed out, buildings unlimited, and have very little stutters with the latest patch. There is of course the total lack of Anti Aliasing which causes flickering I suppose.

Turn triple buffering off, it won't work without v-sync anyway.

Turn it on if you set vsync on.

For freezes try putting buildings on minimal settings OR on the contrary set buildings to unlimited but with very low detail.

Check a guide in my sig.

No way, still bad graphic details.

Make sure you have all drivers updated to the latest version.

Check out this thread here and follow most if not all of the suggestions made in it:

Only way to get rid of the three blue lines on Radeon cards is running in DX9 mode instead of DX10, but you might suffer from fps dropping (at least it gives worse fps for me)

You have to set this in the conf.ini in Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\conf.ini

Of course defrag your system and shut down unneeded background processes, also disabling windows Aero themes might help.

Added example image of how much of an immersion killer those blue lines are below:

Right now first thing to try if you havent done so yet is installing the latest Beta patch. It changed pretty much everything.

First time I’ve seen those lines (in the screen shot). From another post, this seems to be something that affects the HD69XX cards. I get a faint line between 200 and 500 feet only, but wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t specifically been looking for it after reading the other post. I have yet to try the latest patch, though.

Those line are not there if you use direct x 9....... Render=D3D9_0
well there not for me, but they are there if i use dx10 mode

problem is as you get higher they start to REALLY stand out.

it's a bug that needs fixing.

I use an older Ati card (4890 1GB) and i never had these lines, maybe it only happens on the 69xx series cards?
