what would you prefer photo realistic graphics or graphics designed by vangogh
i think this hardware madness is taken us down the path of photorealism
well photorealistic paintings most times are worth nothing, its the artistic paintings which often are invaluable now games are an art, why is it not like painting and be something artistic instead of boring ultra realism i dont want realistic clouds, i see them all the time now dogfighting at dusk on an artistic pink sky oh boy that would be cool |
I think you should leave the house once in while. ;)

Cry for attention!!

tell me of an artistic game, maybe moneky island
99% of games forget art doing a photorealistic painting is easy and has no value i would prefer something like the box models paintings |

Nothing stopping you from going into the files and making your own textures. Here, I drew you a plane, I think its pretty artistic so feel free to draw inspiration for aircraft textures. http://i52.tinypic.com/2570v9i.jpg Have fun flying IL2: Cliffs of kindergarten art. |

Anyway a picasso cubism option in graphic settings would be apreciated and if devs include some duchamp dada option they would make my day ! |
Lol!

Just read a very interesting article in the Atomic magazine (Australian computing gamer magazine) which talked about this very topic, titled "Where are graphics going?".
The main point of the article is that you can have realistic representation of gamer worlds and believable representation of the worlds. The two this are very different. The quote from Jason Vandenberghe creative director of Red Steele 2 wa "I'm a believability guy. I want to believe I'm there, I don't have to believe it's real. I know it's not real, it's a game!" Now a lot of us here are out of frustration. Basically we can't affords to even go through the training to fly a real life warbirds, let alone get to fly one. Last time I heard, what with insurance and maintenance costs etc it was about a $1000AUD an hour to run a Mustang. Do we really want to have to read the maintenance release before we scamble for a mission so we know we have to baby our aircaft? Part of the art of making a flight sim is to make it believable on the limited technology that we've got available today. So what we if don't have several hundred bombers attacking in a mission. Our PC 's wouldn't handle it. But we only have 15 seconds of ammunition, and as in real life you get tied up in a dog fight and loose your situational awareness you loose sight of the formations anyway. Or we take down our two or three targets and then have to land. Not many of us want to have a realistic half hour refueling and rearming before we takeoff again. Most would rather hit the refly button. In my opinion realistic graphics are fine, but as I know it's not 100% possible at the moment, I'ld reather have a work of art that's going to make me believe I'm there every time. COD Has gone a long way towards this! Cheers! |

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone Women seem wicked when you're unwanted Streets are uneven when you're down When you're strange Faces come out of the rain When you're strange No one remembers your name When you're strange When you're strange When you're strange People are strange when you're a stranger Faces look ugly when you're alone Women seem wicked when you're unwanted Streets are uneven when you're down When you're strange Faces come out of the rain When you're strange No one remembers your name When you're strange When you're strange When you're strange When you're strange Faces come out of the rain When you're strange No one remembers your name When you're strange When you're strange When you're strange OH,MY GOD! This guy has been hunting the Ubi forums for ages,he's found the way to this forum, best hide! |
There's plenty of devs out here creating interesting visual worlds, but when you set out to create "The most realistic Air Combat simulator available" you have to make it, well, realistic.

What he really wants is CloD ported to the Love game engine:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...35169_love.jpg e: that game is actually beautiful - especially in motion. |
Wings of Prey did it perfectly, colors & mood (sorry)

Well.......that was pointless.
|
You do realize that what you see there is in Japan and does not fit the time of day at all? I say CoD is pretty spot on when I look out over the sea on a hot summer day.

according quantum physics the obserber is the one who makes reality
so according newton you cant but according sroedinger you could if you really want i asked for 6dof on mouse now i have 6d0f on mouse i asked for dumped controls so you could fly at 16x now i can fly at 16x feeling i fly at 6400kph the team listens to people is beyond me how people often get so mean on the net |

this is not a sandpit, you 'll be tracked down as well, if you support this kind of behavior |
I like the grafix the way they are...maybe they could use a little tweaking, but photo realism just doesn't work. At 10,000 feet the satellite photos look great, but once you get down to ground level they look like big dots...or blobs, or rubbish. So far technology hasn't tackled the issue of scaling up the detail. Their is just no way that any computer could contain the information needed to model the whole map to photo realistic standards right down to "the random building" at any "random location"...anyway.
Nice to see ya again Raaaid. p.s. Didn't we have this conversation a couple years ago (at the zoo)? |

Actually, I wouldn't mind a game that let my fly through scenery from art. Imagine skirting the spires of a Martinesque castles, frolic in the Arcadian sky in an O'Connor painting, or enjoy a flight in the dramatic light German Romanticism!
