Strange textures and "river stripes"
Thanks for that last patch, it did improve things performance wise for me. However, starting with the previous patch I get these weird textures:

Is it just me or has anyone else seen these things? |
Haven't seen the strange repeating textures, but occasionally I do get the "river stripes"
|
Is it really just me seeing this?
|
I have the stripes since day one...
|
i get the stripes too. you need to higher everything other than shadows and shading turn them low or off if you can, this way the stripes are somewhat reduced
|
Ok, thanks for the tip on how to reduce the river stripes. Like I said: They've been there from the release so it's nothing that's been added by the patches.
How about the repeating distant textures? They arrived with path #1 and remains after #2. Have anyone else experienced them? To me they are far more annoying than the river stripes since they kill the immersion completely. I'll try updating my video drivers, just for good measure, but the my whole system is a brand new install so I doubt it will do much good. We'll see though... |
Seems I was wrong: A driver update did the trick in removing the annoying repeating textures.
Thanks for your help fellas. |
I have a Radeon 6970, and have weird graphical glitches all over:
- a line in the water between less and more detailed part of the rendered terrain (over water) - a stripe of overlapping/shimmering ground/water textures (very visible when flying high) between less and more detailed part of the rendered terrain -stripes of water appearing randomly on the terrain -coastline growing tentacles which appear and disappear at random (documented by others) - a triple stripe on the horizon (well documented) - shimmering trees and ground objects I'll post screens and videos when I get to it, but just thought I mentioned this. |
I have "river stripes" with my ATI card.
Does anyone has it with nVidia card?? |
It was said that this graphical problem is because of land detail being set to low.

Raising all graphic settings doesnt seem to help with the three blue horizon stripes though.
Looks like the entire skydome or haze on the horizon is just rendered a bit higher up then on a nvidia card or something. Really hope something can be done about this bug. |
Agreed, the graphics problems on ATi cards are very annoying. It looks like everyone has them. With luck the devs will fix it quickly. In the meantime, I am slightly regretting buying my 6970 because of these problems.

Me, too
I'd like to join the group of "stripe victims" ... :(
As an ATI GFX card user I'm very disappointed about the fact that I don't have any real influence on the in-game GFX settings via CCC. Here're my PC's specs...

Does it mean nVidia does not have the river stripes?
|
Yes I see them at certain angles, have also seen water tiles speckled on mountains in the multiplayer DF missions, but they are junk anyway.
I have tried many graphics settings and it did not matter if it was on high, med or low, still there Intel Core i7-980X Extreme(12MB L2 Cache, 3.33GHz), 12GB DDR3 SDRAM,1333MHZ, 6x2GB, ATI Radeon HD5970, Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium, 2TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, 52" Panasonic Plasma, Logitech G930 wireless Surround Sound Headset, TM H.O.T.A.S. |
Yup I see the stripes. I think the technical term for it is z-fighting where texture layers try to appear ontop of one another because they are too close together.
|
S!
Well, the AMD can do nothing about it if they do not know about it. So the easy way to get their attention is via Driver Feedback Form found HERE. I also wish devs would comment on this as well. |
