The new Black Death Track
The new 'The Black Death' track that came with patch 1.00.14101. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn6lulm9EMU46fps Average. (38fps with FRAPS recording full-screen @60fps.) The new 'Hurricane vs. He-111' track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbaDtj0hu5858fps Average. (55fps with FRAPS recording full-screen @60fps.) The new 'Landscape Flyby' track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyWlPh69P9447fps Average. (42fps with FRAPS recording full-screen @60fps.) The new 'Spitfire vs Bf-110' track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUFQcJ3-y6s63fps Average. (57fps with FRAPS recording full-screen @60fps.) Recorded using default track views @1920x1200. All in-game video settings maxed out. GTX580 @ standard clocks. i7 920 @ 3.8GHz. Frame-rates measured with fps START SHOW command in console. Some sounds are missing in-game. |
That looks really good.
I really like the explosion effects and the physics that go along with it. Hopefully the SLI/Crossfire will be incorporated shortly. |
Good for you. Wierd how there's sounds missing.

Nice!
Must point out the floating, burning engine - 2:56, top left :D |
Missing engine sounds in track files
The tracks in the patch including the Black Death don't play the engine sounds of anything but the 'player's' aircraft (the Hurricane)..
I just tried recording a new track and when playing it back there's definitely a bug with missing engine sounds on all the aircraft in the track - except your own aircraft , where in-cockpit and for any external view its engine sounds are heard ok. All the radio, hit, explosion and gun sounds for all planes appear to be ok, just these missing non-player aircraft engine sounds |
It would be nice to see some kind of bomb crater (even just a texture) after the bombs blow up. and also a more persistent smoke/clouds that last some minutes after the explosion would be nice too.
|
on the other hand the explosion itself looks fantastic, and it's extremely nice that they modelled the shock wave caused by it.

Here's mine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDSO1U9FErQ Variable from 25 to 35 fps, with about 40 fps when no terrain behind. When I'm not recording with fraps, there's a mean increase of about 5 fps. In hardest explosions, fps fall to 10 for only a second. Sound of engines is missing, but that's a general track minor issue, In flight there's sound with no problems. My config (spanish; Alto = Hight, Medio = Medium, Bajo = Low): http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5294412_n.jpg Pc: I7 920 overclocked at 3,33Ghz 6 GB RAM DDR3 Nvidia GTX275 Win 7 Ultimate 64 bits |
for the black death video, the bomb explosion looks great!! but only if the smoke and dust can remain longer.
|
On the first track, where the aircraft get blown up on the run way...i think the way they bounce all over the place is a bit over the top, youd think wings and stuff would get blown off but not for the plains to act like bouncy balls :P
|
Where is this track? The patch updated itself in Steam but no tracks exist in the tracks menu.
|
I had trouble finding the track as well- i found it eventually in:
C: program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/ records It seems that's where the steam updater puts it. Once you've located it you can copy-paste it where your other tracks get put. |
I ran the new Black Death track and I'm not satisfied at all.
I even got minimum of 3fps and this is outrageous for my brand new system. Not to mention that it doesn't seem like a "difficult" track. OK, it had some explosions and a few planes, but it's not like we had 60 planes fighting all together over London. This game should not "compete" on how to become as unplayable as it can be and regretfully a simple track like new Black Death shows that developers have a lot of issues to solve before this game becomes playable like IL-2. |

With an overclocked i5 2500K and gtx570 I am getting an average of 61 in the Black Death track, lowest frames are 16, and thats with all settings on Very High with SSAO off. I found my machine runs smoother with everything turned up for some reason. I have an nVidia card obviously but changing settings in Control panel to 'prefer maximum performance' and upping the maximum pre-rendered frames from 3 to 8 helped also. I'd suggest experimenting with settings because that can't be right. It might still be buggy but high end machines can run this up full. A teammate with a similar system gets the same results as I do, so you should be getting better. S! |
@ Garengarch...
click on the select button @Gadje.. How have you got the game being seen by your vga control panel? hmmm... bouncy bombs in the Black Death? |

Post your specs man ... how can anyone help without them? As for me - (stuffed up my original post) All in game settings on Medium Min Max Avg 22 139 64.627 I'm thinking of getting the new 3GB 580GTX (no not 590) but I'll wait till SLI / Crossfire is enabled in CoD. I'm starting to suspect that nVidia GPU's are holding the upper hand at the moment. |
Sorry forgot to mention that.
With nVidia Inspector you can link to the IL2 CoD exe. I think ATI cards have a similar tool. |
okay, thanks
what is the COD.exe though? |

Radeon HD 6970
i5- 2500k 8gb dd3 RAM All settings on max, SSAO on. Getting an average fps of 55, everything seems to run smooth. Only bug I still suffer from is the three blue lines on the horizon which seems to only happen with Radeon cards. |
