im running the game at 400*300 with an nvidia 8500gt smoothly over the sea

what i did:

change my desktop resolution to 400*300

run the game

change the game resolution to 400*300 full screen and exit

put desktop resolution back normal

now the game will always start at 400*300

i think even a good laptop can run this game :)

TeeJay82 04-16-2011 11:47 AM

Sure your not talking about the aspect?

fruitbat 04-16-2011 11:49 AM

aahhh, crap, he's found 1c.

raaaid 04-16-2011 12:39 PM

myself i would rather buy collectors edition also to change my card

hell i paid for it 100 euro 3 years ago why im the only one seeing crazy doing an upgrade already

so far i know this game can be run at any resolution with tricks

now is a matter of researching how to turn all candy off with the conf

any suggestions on how to turn candy off with the conf?

if they manage to support 256 megas cards they would extend the customers

Sauf 04-16-2011 12:44 PM

Troll much mate?

Derinahon 04-16-2011 12:49 PM

I think he's serious

Sauf 04-16-2011 12:51 PM

I Think he's Raaaid. If he wants to run CloD like this, what's the problem?

raaaid 04-16-2011 12:56 PM

i dont care about eye candy

i just love to put engines to the limit an blow some of them

i really dont give a dam about how it looks but the physical models

edit:

what would you prefer fly a remote controlled real fighter at 200*100 reslotuion or fly fotorealistic cfs2 with sucking physical models?

edit:

also theres a fact: id like a 500 euro graphic card but cant afford it, so before criticise me think i either run the game at 400*300 or dont run it, and there has to be many people with laptops in this situtaion, with this trick i propose you can run a game that otherwise just wouldnt run

edit:

and i really wonder if theres an agreement between the games companies and the hardware companies

guess what new software should adapt to old hardware

if i wanted to run my game at 3000*1500 with my old card i would be stupid

but saint oleg give me the chance with this game to run it at any resoltion with which i can run the game with old hardware, thanks

now all i want is to turn ALL candy off so i can fly on land as well and jump multiplayer

plz help on this

i think many people has fallen in the trap to pay in order to pay

you pay for software and then force to pay for hardware, and every year like that

man you should watch that program where they take an old car and make it awesome, i dont get things to throw them to the garbage next year, for me even things are to be loved, i love my pc and my gpu, countless hours of fun :)

raaaid 04-16-2011 03:34 PM

here over sea at over constant 80 fps:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUIuI...ature=youtu.be

but plz help to turn ALL buildings off so i can fly as well over land at 80 fps :(

why can't you just turn everything to minimum in the GUI, I'm not sure anybody has even tried to find a way to turn buildings off........probably because nobody else is trying to do something as strange as you are.

Fusek 04-16-2011 03:59 PM

There is no harm telling people how he got the game running on a low spec computer, is there?

but he isn't, he's asking how to turn buildings 'off'.

robert1947 04-16-2011 05:01 PM

I also have 8500gt graphics. Cannot get game to run please advise

raaaid 04-16-2011 05:09 PM

i think even a good laptop can run this game

now we only have to figure out how to turn buildings completely off and well be able to fight online at 70 fps shooting down thousand quit rigs :)

Hi, Raaaaid. This is the first I've seen you post over here.
How could you post 34 times here without me noticing.
I need new glasses.

AndyJWest 04-17-2011 12:35 AM

If Raaaaid is playing at 400 * 300, he'll probably need new glasses too.

They said it couldn't be done. Raaaaid proved them wrong (though maybe it shouldn't be done   ).

I suggested that he try 560 * 420 resolution - twice the pixels, twice the fun! I've not seen anything since, so either he's still airborne, or he's blown up his GPU...

machoo 04-17-2011 12:45 AM

Why run at 400x300? do you play with a magnifying glass? I have an 8800GT and run it all full with no slowdown at all over water.

Raaaid is using an 8500 GT - a much lower spec.

raaaid 04-17-2011 01:06 AM

i play it at 400*300 FULL SCREEN :)

AndyJWest 04-17-2011 01:24 AM

Did you try 560 * 420, Raaaid? Might be easier on the eyes...

Presumably you're not running the new Beta patch - that might help a little too.

A clue as to why Raaaid is struggling:

NVidia 8500 GT 43 GFLOPs
NVidia 8800 GT 504 GFLOPs
NVidia 570 GTX 1405.4 GFLOPs

Figures from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...ocessing_Units. There are other factors affecting performance too, of course...

raaaid 04-17-2011 01:59 AM

i tried 560*420 but for some reason my gpu cant render that while it can 400*300

also im running beta patch

if i manage to reduce distance at which buildings pop up i could fully run this game online with this rig

justme262 04-17-2011 02:18 AM

maybe you could squint while you fly over land?
or blink constantly so you can't tell if it's the frame rate or the blinking?
or maybe they could put an option to turn off buildings, trees and your sense of the ridiculous ?
 hey if you shoot me down online while playing like that your a better virtual pilot than I am !

Now, that would be ironic. The rest of us are selling (or renting) body parts to upgrade our PCs, and to have Raaaid on our six in his badly-rendered G50 (or whatever), shooting square bullets and stuttering along at 5 fps would be most embarrassing.

This thread is the most entertaining one on the forum, by far.

raaaid 04-17-2011 03:00 AM

well just found out i can run the game as well at 250*150 and still read the gauges on ww view

feels like a quarter machine which still is fun after decades

i even flew over london with quite few stutter this way :)

now im ready to jump online, if only i knew how

ROFL!

Just a thought. Have you tried it in windowed mode? This might just pay off in low resolutions, though you may need to sit rather close to the screen (and at 250 * 150 you'll probably have your nose against the monitor  )

raaaid 04-17-2011 03:22 AM

nono i do a trick so is full screen

if you set 400*300 in the conf.ini you need to have a custom desktop resolution of 400*300 as well

on this way you can have any resolution you want at full screen :)

Interesting. Which OS are you using? I can't select a resolution that low in XP (not that I'd want to...)

have you tried say 640 * 480 or 800 * 600? These are much more likely to be supported as standard resolutions. You could try 16-bit colour too. I'm sure this will never work properly, but we may as well see how far you can push it.

MadBlaster 04-17-2011 04:38 AM

try LandGeom=0? Or ;LandGeom=whatever. maybe that works, maybe not.

raaaid 04-17-2011 05:40 AM

landgeom doesnt seem to work :(

im running vista

the game still playable for me at 800*600 on sea, 25 fps, if only i found the way to eliminate stuuter over land

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGmA4wBfeaA

blitze 04-17-2011 06:09 AM

Bloody champ there mate. The thing is you are playing and having fun regardless rather than whine and b*ch like others.

Nice to see for a change. Hope you get online sorted and have fun up there. I haven't for myself but that is just me not spending enough time on it.

Oh, too bad. Sorry I don't have the game yet, so i can only guess. I read over at SimQ somewhere that dynamical lights=0 helps a lot with fps. But that's not buildings. Maybe some of the other "land" settings you could try. Minimize sound settings should help, but it looks like you did that already.

You could also overclock your vid card a bit. Get rivatuner (freeware). Very easy to do. Just some sliders you move. Try something mild, like 5 percent increase and see if it makes a difference. Keep all the numbers (core/shader/memory in proportion to your stock settings and you should be okay. You should probably monitor your gpu temp just in case, but i doubt it will do much heat difference with just 5 percent. I'm sure there's guys out there that overclock that card. You could try their settings.

AndyJWest 04-17-2011 12:40 PM

800 * 600 doesn't look too bad. As for overclocking, I doubt that you'll be able to do this enough to make a noticeable difference, though it might be worth a try. Watch the temperatures though, and don't push your luck, otherwise you'll be getting a new graphics card whether you like it or not.

Have you tried the alternate fictional maps - they were designed for online, so they probably have less detail, and they are much smaller.

raaaid 04-17-2011 02:24 PM

its optional put a lot of buildings or few, why none?

i jumped online but is not playable by now due to stuttering

but i have hope ill be able to run this game smoothly overland at 800*600 soon:

i noticed while i play the game it uses 50% of the cpu and 30% of gpu memory

so its just a matter of time the teams optimizes the game :)

when the pc screams when playing the game they go it right, nows too silent

they probably didn't anticipate you, or anyone having a last century graphics card below minimum spec to try and run it.

I appreciate you are having fun too, but I'm not sure you can expect too much help on your setup because practically nobody will be trying to do the same.

TeeJay82 04-17-2011 03:04 PM

Raaaid

in your conf.ini i noticed

;ProcessAffinityMask=2

you need to remove the ; so it looks like this

I will - The reports about performance problems have convinced me to wait until next year to upgrade. So, I'll be down there (I'd like to get 640x480 at least).
