SYNDICATE MP server
Hi all.
Our server is now up. This is a full realism (minus 2 handed controls) server that is set to host 128 players. The server consists of a 12 core Xeon (dual 6 core CPUs) 1gbps (1 gig per second upload/download bandwidth) and 48 gigs of DDR3. We have a public 100 person ventrilo server that everyone is free to use. You can see who's in vent by going to our homepage and clicking on our vent link will automatically connect you. I highly suggest anyone having issues to post on our forums as we don't frequent these forums that often. Direct connect IP: 216.52.143.43:27016 Cheers! But there is no dedicated s/w yet for a server, so you have to host it through the game menu. LeadFarm might be the best to ask how to set a nice one up, as he has that 24/7 one at the moment with the English Channel map. The realism settings you want for the server are set from the game menu options. It just carries over into the server. Setting a server up in-game is a doddle. Just go to mulitplayer, sever, select map, and start battle. |
Thanks.. It uses internap which is one of the main fiber trunk lines of the internet itself. It took about 5 seconds to download and install the game through steam :)

I've been investigating the FMB, MP aspect, which is actually quite straight forward for basic missions; such as on-going non-scoring battles. There are some issues, such as player's spawning on top of other player's. So that would have to be overcome; which I do feel can be solvable with a little more testing. |
Yes I know I've seen it. The problem right now, is that you'd have to use your same game key to run a dedicated server as you would be playing with. In my situation, I have no problem giving that up to start up a dedicated server.
So unless everyone that wants to run a dedicated server buys 2 copies of the game, it can't be done. I actually have 2 copies of the game anyways lol. One doesn't get out till the 19th though. |

Good idea to turn the 2 hands thing off. The problem with that is that even on quality equipement you always have some slight movement. So, if you have a throttle quadrant or whatever, there's always a small detection of movement that the computer detects and the sim sees it too which result in 2 hands already used for the sim. Middle East, so that's why we don't see you flying online anymore lately. When will you be back? ~S~ |

Hi Riksen!! It has been a heck of a long time :) How you been? We've been using this thing for ROF for a while now just waiting for the chance to fire it up for the new IL2 :D

And it seems if we had some sort of read-me the dedicated server part would work. type in "help" to get commands or the "?". It seems that "missLoad" is the command to fire up a mission. It also seems that all the missions that the dedicated software look for are in the Documents/1c SoftClub folder. If someone could figure out the commands or entries to put into the .config file or if **Hint Hint Luthier or someone from 1c could explain it to us** we should be golden, hopefully. were does the launcher look for a mission.
what is the default path>? |
no matter where i put the .mis all im getting is "no map in mission file" :(

The mission may have been running with the object errors. I don't really know. I had waited for a few minutes after the mission showed loading and saw no more information in the black box. this is not an error in the map.
I get this error even if the map is not runing. Start the launcher and do not type the missLoad. type "sc" and you ll see its;) not the map |

I set up a quick MP mission over the English Channel. I've kept it simple for now, in case there are problems and it would be easier to bug it.
I set an airfield for bombers in Ramsgate, further from the south coast in order to allow them to get a good altitude, with Manston next to it for escort/intercept. Three airfield's on the south coast for fighters. AA at each airfield, and a couple of locations for radar (unsure if they actually do anything on their own). I did the same for the Blue team. Bomber airfield located at St-Omer-Arques, escort/intercept at St-Omer-Wizernes. ----- I have noticed that sometimes aircraft spawn in a house.. with that they explode, but I'm not sure if there is a way to sort that or not. All spawn's work though, I did basic testing as I could. Feel free to use it, have it tested, and changes can be made. The mission can be expanded to include locations for the bombers, whether that's buildings or columns of tanks, boats etc. Not too sure what's possible with scripting, could be nice to have a time on the map, and perhaps some basic scoring system or objectives. ----- Seems you have some issues.. but feel free to test the mission if you like. |

Hmm, that didn't work for me. Tried putting the mission in the quick missions folder and got an error map would not load. So then I took the same mission and put it in all the folders (lol I know) loaded the same mission and now it says "mission loaded!" at the bottom.
I don't know anymore than that though :( |

Hi fellas. I think some of the guys are going to work on it tonight. It shouldn't take long to get the server up as the game is installed on the dedicated machine. We're gonna try to run the a mission kindly donated to us that includes the full BoB map.
I'll definitely let you guys know the IP when we've got the server and realism settings sorted out. (full realism minus the 2 handed controls) Hopefully we can get it going in a few hours at the latest. Thanks |

Would be an idea to advertize this in the MP section of the forum, as this thread will probably drop down to another page quickly. I'll look to start adding bomb objectives for the bomber's and give information of map reference in the mission briefings. If spawn area's need adjusting, problems, etc, just let me know and I can make revisions. If you used that specific one that is, lol. |

The server is up and running with a basic mission.... I even had my first (inconclusive) dogfight!

The issue is time does what it does, and the server is 24/7.. Will have to look at ways to circumvent that.

We had this night time issue when we first ran our RoF server. At the moment the MP side of things is pretty basic and we only have one or two missions!
We will see if we can get static time set on the mission to maintain daylight for now. |
When I first joined the server, it was pitch black :grin: . Couldn´t even see where the runway is :grin::grin: .

I just had my first online session, was amazing FPS were better than I was expecting.
Took off and flew over the channel but didn't keep an eye on my RPM and sure enough my engine started to cough and splutter and shake violently, reduced prop pitch and tried to continue but it was too late the damage had been done could not stop the shaking and the speed dropped RTB. Second Attempt, got across the channel spotted some targets and closed in. Above an airfield with a spit gradually gaining altitude a few shots into the cockpit, dead pilot and a fire sprang from the engine it listed left and lazily turned into the ground (turned out to be AI, im still a bad shot ). Next spit closed in and a few shots and the right wheel deployed slightly, came around for another attempt as it was going for a crash landing, this time no fire and it tumbled into the ground (Damn AI again). Started to look for another target and sure enough a third spit flew across my view this time I had to chase it, but closed in way too fast and crashed into it . Fanatics experience I recorded the third but less fortunate flight, if you wish i could make a vid. So to sum up Online is sweet, for the first time I felt giddy, it was like I was flying il2:1946 again... when i got the first kill my heart was pounding but when all i came across was damned AI I started to get annoyed. There were 5 reds online but i have no idea where they were . |
I'll be off for about seven days at the end of next week. Can't wait to get online with Cliffs of Dover.

Anyone work out how to drop bombs from bf109e3-b on full real? toggled arm and dropped but they dont seem to explode, cant work out what im doing wrong :(

Beautiful server, thank you! Chased a 109 yesterday over Dover, all the way down from 14 angels, until my engine gave up at sea level ... I guess that the mixture was a little lean ... Question: tracers didn't seem to show up in game for the Spit IIa, despite their addition to the belting. Bug or server choice?

It looks that you have figured out the command to disable the Anthropomorphic Control on a dedicated server. The "difficulty AntropomorphicControl 0" does not seem to work. I tried a few variation to no avail. Any ideas? |
