New patch, new sounds????

Congrats first with this new forum. I hope its gonna be a decent and fair one. :wink:
Reason for reg in here: Last days there a lot discussion going on about the new sounds circling arround.
I understand some dont like it, at first the game makers.
Question: is there anew patch coming with these new sounds??? I hope so, cus i really find these sounds an awesome upgrade for the game. Now you hear the engine like it is in real.

I hope not offending anyone here .

I'll be suprised if 1C can include the sounds from the sound-hack, because no-one knows where those sounds have come from, and they could be from a copyright source like someone else's sim or a commercial DVD. It's a lot of work to record a complete set of aircraft sounds and whoever did it would probably be upset with 1C taking their work without permission and putting it in a patch. Bad enough that the hacker's done it but the hacker's already breaking the rules.

The existing sounds are OK I think, once you set attenuation=0 in the conf.ini.

quick question, what does setting attenuation=0 in conf. ini do?

btw, they can't use the sounds from that hack. Those were apparently from CFS3!

Attenuation can be set between 0 and 7 I think. The lower the settings, the less you'll hear sounds from outside your own aircraft. Set it to 7, and you'll hear people starting their engines on an airfield while you're halfway to the target, and when someone's sneaking up behind you you'll hear their engine. Set it to 0 and you'll only hear things which are really close. I think it's more realistic - it's certainly more immersive than using your ears to detect enemy aircraft!

In wich section one have to write this attenuation=0 line?

I'm not sure how this attenuation works. I believe the default setting is "7" and I've never heard another aircraft sneaking up on me, and I've been flying IL-2 since the beta test days. The only way I used to get kills was sneaking up on them on their low six, now they break just before I get the shot. It aggrivates me to no end when I hear people on comms talking about hearing other aircraft around them. I hope it something that can be corrected for the SOW series.

Well it was only introduced relatively recently - v4.00 perhaps. I've been around for... what year is it now? about six years and I've known about attenuation, but not which way to adjust it to make it work properly...

I suppose that's why it's an adjustable setting, not something 1C permanently changed somewhere internal.

Dozer, and others, the combat flight model is also hacked. And this before the sound, lol. Its not funny to say, but it is hacked by a few russians. Dont shoot me :shock:

I miss Rab and Crk islands there ;)

Dont even mention Krk, Foobar....spent a week there two months ago with friends and gf. Still trying to find a way to live there couple months without paying for house renting. (no, tent is not a solution :) )

In august I was on Rab island, for the 5th time now. I love to go there for holidays. Next time we try to meet each other :)

I'm so glad you liked vacation in Cro :D ... vord of advice: northern Adriatic is ok ,but if you really want to taste mediteran try Dalmatia (middle Adriatic) next year specially islands. Smell of pine trees alone will ... well, come and see for yourselves :D Vis island is special story ... i was on sailing trip (my first) there and wooow.

Fly_zo: Ive been many places in Croatia (speaking of the costline) Started when I was a kid, and it was Yugoslavia, I saw the famous Mostar bridge before it went down, Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Porec, Pula, Rijeka, Krk, Zadar or Zára as we called it :), Trogir, Split and my all-time fav,Omis. A nice country you have there. Need to explore more islands for sure.

So you asked me to include Omis into template? Well, now i feel stupid ( smile: hammering on the head from Zoo)... sorry m8

If they are copyrighted, which they might be, I am working on a completely new set, starting with the Spit and Tempest to include new gun sounds as well. They sound VERY good. It does take a lot of work, but it is worth it.

it would be nice if that copuld be set as a server side adjustment.. like the icons.

Hi fly_zo: when I was in Croatia for the first time in 1988 I was very impressed. Water quality, clima and all other was perfect - besides the political circumstances those days ;)
The reason why we (my family and me) don't want to try out a different place is simple: there's no need to do, simply because the place there where we go to regularly gives us all we're expecting.

@Jutocsa: wich corner of Germany?

I think it has a setting 0-10, 7 being the default. I have mine set at 3. It means I don't hear field guns firing from 2 miles away or the sound of the engine from the aircraft that bounces me :shock:
But I like it that way, feels more real
