SB-2 Cockpit Project (Check it out TD)
I`m very interested in this topic since I found it. Just check out this very good and talented modder!
It has now 13 pages of very good rendered pics, maybe this could be something for TD http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,5483.0.html http://aviarestorer.ru/forum/attachm...4&d=1285441254 http://aviarestorer.ru/forum/attachm...1&d=1289513408 http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/attachmen...0&d=1297016915 http://aviarestorer.ru/forum/attachm...0&d=1299612148 |

Cheers and thanks for all the hard work, Fafnir_6 |
Note: it was the SB, not the SB-2. ;)
|
in fact it is SB 2 m-100A)
which means SB with two engines m - 100 a |
How different would the SB 2M-103 cockpits be?
Could this pit 'double up' as it were? It'd be really cool to get an Ar-2 in game as well. Even just as AI... To round off the set. ;) |
Quote:
but the first SB with engines m - 103 looks almost identical to m 100 ... i mean external model maybe we'll think something about that but do not promise) Ar2 is not in our plans... sorry( |
Hands up. (not only thumbs)
Just need to improve the details quality. |
first post by a lurker. Followed IL2 from launch and getting as many of the AI planes flyable from early days has always impressed me. The model looks great have you any idea when your completing it such as are you aiming for 4.11 or later.

see our last renders on SAS or Sukhoi or Aviaskins.... work in progress... every detail reworking by several times .... for the example, main frame in pilots cockpit we are reworking. somthing about 6 or 8 times... and like this we do with every object in cockpit permanently improving them based on new data |
Also looking at the gunners postion did the SB have a bomb sight because I don't see one

will be) |
As a first impression of that work from DT, I can say, its in a very good state and much more improved as on the screenshots in this thread. ;-)

Very nice!

BTW,anyone working on DB-3?
|
DB-3 is just another designation of the Il-4 (basically A DB-3F with uprated engines). An early DB-3 however is pretty different (not in shape, but in internal components and structures, so making cockpits would likely require work from scratch. I don't see it happening anytime soon unfortunately.
|
No DB-3 completely different plane ...
documentation and information on it is almost no ... he is a close relative for Il4, but even from him he is very different |

something new...
|
Looks nice :) What is the red object?
|
its ammo box)... will be ammo box
|
I'm as impressed with the fact that you guys found sufficient references to model the interior of this plane, considering most of them were hacked from the sky by the Germans in 1941. :)
Was the example on display at Monino any help in modeling this? |
i'm not sure that i understand you right)
but about Monino i can say, that we a made a trip to it, something about year ago... with couple fotocameras and rulers... representatives of the museum we are warmly welcomed and allowed to touch and take pictures of our SB! That's really helped us) BIG Thanks to guys from of society Aviarestorer aviarestorer.ru --- look at they) |
Monino is awesome! Is a shrine for flyboys.Want to go there once in my life.
BTW,nobody knows the DB-3 cockpit? (not IL-4,the DB-3M) |

Just curious how you folks are doing with this. Any more tasty pictures or updates?
Not sure if this has been asked before but are there any external updates to the model planned or is the current model sufficient? |
we are working hard, but slowly)
new delicious pictures appear every week ( or almost every week) in this topic http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthrea...e=12&p=1665145 will update here more often simply did not think that there is too much interested in the Soviet "High-Speed" bomber) to rework of the external model we didnt have the skills ... but would love to make some changes ... such as new external bomb racks or other models of propellers may by somebody will help to us... |

I have to admit that although I am a fan of Oleg's work since Il-2 Sturmovik's first demo, I didn't know much about World War II aviation before. And even today if you give me a new aircraft which served historically in a certain time and area, I wouldn't know about it and couldn't set up a proper mission that is historical correct, I only would get to the part that is entertaining me. Naturally, since I haven't read much or learned nothing elsewhere before. I first encountered the SB-2 in Sturmovik in the finnish B-239 single player mission. Easy targets in the N1 mission without fighter protection. The mission shed a tiny speck of light on the war of Finland against the Soviet Union, while the flying was easy enough. The next mission was tougher and I learned more about the B-239 and the mission's background. So you can say that Il-2 Sturmovik in itself is a learning tool, if mission designers (and the rest of the accessed community) shared their wisdom and are wilfully absorbed. Having that said, I'm very interested in seeing the SB-2 added to the flying roster. And I wish for some experts (read: the SB-2 team itself or their supporters, because they know the aircraft best -) design a few missons with the release of the SB-2. That way we could start to fly like we should. I for myself would like see for example a single player mission in the Baltic theater of operations, but with with a higher guarantee of success than described above. Please? |
