Huns! mission
 
Here's a single free hunt mission over the channel.

The takeoff runaways were chosen as far from towns as possible. ALL (and I really mean ALL the airfields from the 1940 english channel map, mission designers will definitely need this) german/british airfields are marked with a barrage balloon floating over it. 3 british and 2 german radars are positioned (as they appear in various original MG misssions), 3 flak guns for each radar (excepting the most western of them, which are guarded by 25 flak guns) and also 2 british airfields (layered down on map in an original 1C mission).

2x2 german fighter groups (4 BF-109 E3s)
5x1 british fighters (3 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes)
1x3 british bombers (3 Wellingtons)

Unpack it into C:\Users\<user_name>\1C..\IL2CoD..\missions\Single folder.

I've kept the number of planes down (no historical german 4 planes/ british 3 planes fighter airgroups) in order to allow players with weaker systems (like me: an ACER Aspire 5740G with an Intel i3 2.13 GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 with 500 MB VRAM and 4 GB DDR2 RAM - at 1032x600x32 windowed resolution the FPS is around 15 in cockpit and 30 from outside). You can easily customize it though changing the number of planes to fit your needs (and your system's horsewpoer).

Mission updated to v1.1

- added escort flights for the english bombers
- added 1 more german radar
- added flak units (3 guns) to all radar locations
- added heavy (25 guns) flak units to one english and one german radar locations (both the most western of them)
- added back home and landing waypoints for all airplane groups

There a bug through, the briefing screen are loading the wrong screenshot.

To fix just open your "_001 - Huns!.briefing" file with notepad and add " LG" just like this screenshot :

corrected in version 1.11. I've just forgot to change the Slide's picture's name from the briefing file to the larger file, thank you.

I'm considering adding some channel traffic and german bombers attacking it.

In a few days I'll be back home in Bucharest, so I'll have access to my computer and stop tormenting myself with playing IL2 CoD on this laptop :)

Tried the mission but as soon as i take off leader returns to base. Happens with both German squads.

Hmm, I don't know about that, I've just re-tried the mission, and everything is fine.

As you are talking about your flight leader, I guess you are using it customized, because at default, you'll be the flight leader of the JG51 group.

Yet, maybe your flight leader had some engine/aircraft problems and had to return home, it happened to me once, the wingman announcing me over comm he have to return home almost as soon as we took off. Have you watched the comm for anything like this?

Just re-download the mission, and try it again.

Here you go, my settings modified settings are bolded (all the manual config.ini ones I've done have the original line commented above with a ;; , as they can't be modified from within the game, at least atm). Also please note that I've disabled the clouds rendering from realism settings (as they are too much of a FPS hit for my poor laptop).

yes, they announce that they return. Just found it weird that it happens every time heh :)

Try flying as a leader, maybe it's a game bug.

Hello,

I tried your mission, and it is very good! Little quick but not too much so.
The only thing I could make better is to add 5000 meters to the altitudes.
Most of air battles in WWII are at 6000 or 7000 meters.
Otherwise nothing to say but a very fine mission.

beefed up the your mission abit,added more planes,i think i'm up to 52,plays great so far.i'm really bad at ground objects in fmb,planes i can do,so i'm looking forward to your update,maybe i can add some stukas and ju88's and more brit fighters,cheers m8.

I'm home, but I need to build my new system first: I've just bought an Intel i7 2600K, a Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 mainboard and 2x4 GB 1866MHz DDR3 Corsair Vengeance. I'll keep my old videocard, a GTX 280 OC2 BFG, for the moment, until things gets clearer regarding how much VRAM is used by IL2 CoD.

But I need sleeping badly atm, so it will have to wait until after.

Then, I'll start do some real mission building, if I won't be too busy playing the damn thing :P
