Fighters in focus - SPEED
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o.../deadhorse.gif
Measured in v4.08 on Crimea map. Results are very accurate, tolerance for error is less than 1%.......... I'll update the list and add new info as I do new tests. http://i23.tinypic.com/5akiaa.gif ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here are differences in speed.................IL-2 V4.08 vs IL-2 Compare V4.07. Differences are expressed in %.......so those having a positive % have actually greater speed than expected, and those that have -% have less speed than expected. All values are measured at SL, except those marked with *, which are obtained at max speed altitude (see some test above for more info). http://i21.tinypic.com/1z5lpq9.gif ________ update#2 |
Very nice, DKoor!
Good to see some 'sensible' stuff appearing here! I'm going to spend the next few days testing your listed speeds for accuracy, if y'all don't mind. Purely because I don't have that much else to do right now... Oh, I assume you were using full ECM settings for these tests? Cheers :D BTW, I knew there was a reason why I liked the P40 so much, and it looks pretty impressive in blue on the list! |
Thanks.
All fighters were tested at full CEM settings with all stuff.... I only enabled pit off and speedbar :) BTW top speeds at level are reached at around ~2mins after flying at top speed and with almost absolutely no deviation in course and height. I used QMB. |
:P Hope you don't mind...

GREAT! 8)
I just wanted to do that, but somehow with all those options (quote, code, list etc.) I got owned. :( Simple way is always the best 8) Thanks IMB! |
P-47Dora only looses 1kph with 2 * 500?
How queer :?: |

Me sorry.........forgot to mention that I released those bombs :P So drag caused by center rack (dunno why it is mounted there in the first place, as it is not necessary for 2x500lb loadout) costs ya 1km/h. Anyhow I don't wanna get into the discussion about un-logical racks and drags here just pure info....................FW-190A is heavily affected by unnecessary racks (when you select only inboard cannons your speed is actually lower :!: :!: :!: because game adds a nice rack to your FW-190 :?: :? :? ).........sorry couldn't resist :P So correct P-47D27 speeds are; P-47D27 547 (with 2x500lb on) P-47D27 577 (after released 2x500lb) P-47D27 578 (default armament) Thanks Megile 8) |
I did a similar list for sea level speeds some time ago. Some results are from 4.07m, others from 4.08m. What I have seen the results from DKoor and mine are withing 1%.

8) Great! Thanks for the list man :D
|
so in conclusion:the list it's accurate as it can be !
Thanks for all effort guys, it will sure help me when choosing my flight saving it for reference thanks again :D Z |
Great! So what are ya'll going to work on next? :)
|
I did the P-38s, deck and on best speed alt, with default and heaviest l0ad (10xHVAR + 2x1,000lb).
I'll do some more stuff..... 8) At deck and best speed alt. American fighters this time 8) It would be interesting to see some bomber speeds....... 8) |

thanks |
Rgr I'll do it.............probably post results here tomorrow :)
|
thanks :D

OK I did a little update.......there are some uncommon (relatively) results like those of Mosquito......dam that fighter-bomber is fast!
For instance, it's absolute top speed is faster 7km/h than those of N1K2-Ja! Take into account that we are comparing 1942 wooden fighter-bomber to the late war 1945 fighter! |
I couldn't out run a 25lbs Spit - for too long  -, and couldn't out turn it in the Mosquito. So I say it's undermodeled. :P
|
Depends what you flew in against them........................
Imagine if we get 1944 Mosquito 8) he he fast mf...... :P Spitfire is not that fast aircraft someone could expect it to be. Virtual Luftwaffe in their 109s and wurgers should be able to run away from them. |

Those are values that can be read on the "Comic Gauge", another words, TAS 8)

Nice :)

http://kurfurst.allaboutwarfare.com/...les/blatt9.jpg It seems the radiator has very little effect on drag state compared to real life.. |
I've compared another set of data..........
To some this may be actually worthwhile...... See how much actual difference is between the Gospel IL-2 Compare V4.07 and IL-2 V4.08. Some may be surprised. |
Excellent work Mr. DeKoor. A big ~S~ for your efforts.
I've always wondered what my favorite ride the Pe-2 would do at altitude... any chance of you checking her when you have the time? You do that and I'll buy you a beer sometime! 8) |

I think you outdone tagert on this one D.

Thank you Sir, I owe you one. Will copy this to my files in order to do some comparisons w/ whatever RL data I'm able to find later on...
S! and thanks again m8 8) |
Great list sir, thanks for sharing.

Great information. I fly FW190 and the speed is my virtual life! Thanks a lot.

Here's one tip guys....................................
If you carry bombs, and you have option to carry internal load - do it. See Pe-2 tests on page two for further info. That is valid as some kind of a general rule with all ac. |
