Patch news
They've discovered the source of the closing to bombers FPS drop: their exhaust pipes effects.
They've also did some optimization for the buildings' shadows, and the result was a increase from 10 FPS to 20 FPS over London. The patch should be released late this afternoon. |
S!
Thanks for the heads up, Adonys :) Any info if it is on Steam then too? |
I think the patches will be released only on Steam, actually.
|
Thanks for the info
|
This is my first time using steam, does it patch automatically if i leave it running in background overnight? Or will it show up in the "libary" window?
Thx |
It will auto patch if you leave it running overnight

you can even shut down the computer when patch is not fully applied yet, next time it will continue from same spot, working somehow like torrent.
Nice news, why devs doesen't give us nothing info where we are going with the patch? Kankkis |
Patch will be for RU only or International version also ?

Great news after all :D
|
There is no worry people, buy an 512 core processor @ 89ghz you should be fine! :)
:( |
Great news. The bomber slow downs is the only slowdown i experienced so far.

That's good news, especially since we'll be able to also disable the filter.
I hope that they continue to exhibit the same care to providing us with options, so that after a few months when the game is running well and making good sales and good reviews and things have quieted down a bit, they would take the time to issue a patch that allows those of us who want so to opt out of Steam completely. It's the only thing that's constantly nagging me in the back of my mind, i support the title and the developers in their efforts and that's why i didn't cancel my pre-order, but that thing needs to be an option just like the epilepsy filter. |

Steam won't be made optional, no, not ever, you might be able to crack it, but you would sacrifice multiplayer, anti-cheat, cloud backups, automatic updates and may or may not be legal in your country.
There are perfectly good reasons to dislike Steam, but "misinformed person said something that one time" is not one of them. The majority of the PC gamer base uses Steam, and of all publishers Ubisoft is the least likely to listen to a wingey minority. |

Great news and kudos to the team for turning this around so fast!!!!!

The only advantage this would give me is that i can possibly have my relative in the UK e-mail me the activation keys when he receives my collector's edition, so i can download it from Steam instead of waiting two days for it to arrive in the mailbox. Quote:
See what i did there? The shoe is on the other foot. ;) All those things you think i "sacrifice" are things that i won't use anyway. The only thing i'm interested in is multiplayer which is not exclusive to Steam anyway (the manual says so). So, i actually sacrifice nothing if i bypass Steam, as long as i can get updates in the form of stand-alone, self-extracting executables. And the best thing is, 1C doesn't even have to host those and pay for the bandwidth, there's a lot of fan-sites all over the place hosting patches for IL2 already, same thing would happen with CoD. Long story short, the "steam is the only way" rhetoric is something i don't buy. Steam is just something extra for people that like certain features, it's far from a necessity. And that's why if i can bypass it on my collector's edition i will. It will make my installation leaner and with less dependencies on other software, which is something i try to do with every game i buy ;) To tell you the truth, if the publishers don't solve this the community will on its own. It's not hard to bypass Steam, neither is it hard to issue non-Steam versions of Steam patches wrapped in a custom installer. All high profile games get cracked but the versions pirates actually prefer are the Steam versions, because they are the easiest ones to crack and the easiest ones to use patches with even when they are cracked. Steam bypass will happen anyway, all i'm saying is that it's better if the publishers realize this and give us an official option. If not, there's unofficial ones and it's not illegal in my country to do what i want with the software i buy, as long as it's done for personal use. I just want some tech-support or feature (call it what you want) from the publishers, instead of having to rely on pirates to provide it. I mean, i'm a legitimate customer, it's highly ironic if pirates are better qualified to help me than the guys who get most of the money i pay for the collector's edition, don't you think? :-P |
Unfortunately you can't bypass it. It will force itself onto the HDD even if you don't like it
and I know I don't but I've come to terms with that in order to play this game (if it will be playable) I must put this Steam worries behind me and just turn off all and everything I don't want from it :) |
does this patch also fixes this problem with the launcher?
|
We don't know yet.
I think patch is out in couple of hours, if luthier means moscow evening |
wooho.. great news, GTX580 here i come :P
|
Excellent news just before the release, one after another!
Few things I wonder though and maybe there are perfectly good explanations for thme: 1) Why do we have to learn so much through rumours, some random russion forum links instead of having a 'Developer news' or whatever locked sticky here or some other 'official place' they decide? 2) Did they not notice the stutters approaching the bombers in their testing sessions? If they did why wasn't there release notes that would have listed 'known issues' and a reassuring comment that they will be addressed soon? I'm not trying break the euphoria here as we have finally have a good vibe going amongst the forums (haven't dared to read SimHQ however). But I've never seen such panic and so many slit wrists in a community than what I saw after the russian release. With active communication I guess that could have been mitigated to some extent atleast. |
I get sick of the steam whining. I dont see any problems with steam. And it seems nobody can give me a good reason why this game shouldn't be on steam. Does it take your propeler away? Lol
|
Ill give you one , every time I turn my pc on I get a message from steam saying it dosnt recognise my pc and I need to enter a code they sent to my email, ive had to do it about 25 times now and ive only had steam since I bought the Ru COD.

I have 2 PCs in my house and I had to verify each one once after Steam shield was released, and none since. If not you may want to bring it to the attention of Valve, as it sounds like it may be a bug. I'll do a little looking around and see if I can find other users having similar issues. Edit a: Okay you can turn off Steam Guard in the Steam settings. Just look for the big button in settings that says Steam Guard settings. (This means Steam will not verify your account when it is logged into an unrecognized computer). Edit b: You can always try this I can't seem to find any other answers, and no other cases of people with that particular issue Fireflyerz, so hopefully one of these can help you. If not as I said try Steam support and let them know the problem you are having. |
Looks like patch is out.
My version just updated to 1.00.3820 |
i just launch steam with russian version....i have a upgrade.... i hope it is the waiting patch....

Bummer that the download will unlock tomorrow morning at 7:30am , I was thinking it'd be 5:30am just before I leave to work. I'll have to show somebody ow to start the download so it might be finished by the time I get home. Steam downloads are horrible slow with new games.

Give feedback ASAP:grin:

Thanks for the info, I'll go download mine.

I guess this is just an Anti-Ep patch ? Also no amount of voodoo will get Anti-aliasing to work through the game or card settings. Anyone lucky with this? |

Stop Steam, find a file in your Steam folder called clientregistry.blob (I kid you not!) and delete it. Restart Steam. Good luck. |
After patch every mission goes to 95% and system freezes up. Russian version.
:-( system specs: 3 GB DDR3 i7 2,93GHz 2 x Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 driver version 263.09 Win XP SP3 |
Russian version.
Patch worked for me, performance MUCH better. Still stutters over london, but at least I can approach bombers and the game doesn't become a slideshow. I would say its a MAJOR leap forward, and its good to continue from here :) P.S No menu option for epilepsy filter, perhaps its automatically now turned off? I don't know cause I had it disabled already before. |

S!
Got the Anti-Ep filter option, but no performance improvement over land. Using Medium settings, disabled shadows etc. too. Can boil down to drivers too, who knows. |
@Flanker mines the same, not that much performance boost over land, but more over air combat!

The Epi patch has hit Steam in Australia
Hi all,
I am in Melbourne Australia and Luthier Epi pen has been jabbed into my Steam account with success. I was getting 10-18fps in a single mission over the water attacking bombers. Now I am getting 25-35 fps on Medium settings 1980x1080. Sli still not working correct. When it is on I get black screens and menus do not show unless my mouse moves over the words. So for now switch SLI off. Still need to upgrade to an i7 this weekend i think. I am not sure if it is my game or not, but it seems that the graphics (even turned full on to very high) do not reflect that in the game. It is like the lods or actual high graphics settings do not take effect on screen so if I pause the game and look at a flack gun on ground the model looks like it is drawn in very low detail and not very high detail..... Maybe this is to be fixed in a patch on the 1st of April.. Anyway... I can fly on medium settings now but of course fps dip to 2fps when you shoot up a plane or 5 bombers decide to change course. Love your work at 1c. Well done Luthier and Oleg. Can't wait for this to be optimized. my pc (Maybe below par for this game????) But I can no way see how I can even get a still frame to look as good as the images on other videos or the Dev diary video. any clues?? 42' lcd at 1980x1080 native Q6600 @ 4ghz 2x evga 285gtx sli evga i780 MB 128gb ssd win 7 64bit ultimate 8gig ram all latest drivers and win7 performance is rated 7.0 |
hmm for the first time ever, tonight my Steam broke, and i had to End task in system tray.
imagine what would happen if Steam was messed up forever. like they went bankrupt or something. no company is invincible. I feel too much reliance on 1 system nowadays. We still need hard copy distribution. i feel. with no activation via steam. i know its good in many ways. but never fail to have a backup plan. the thought of steam going bust having an effect of whether i can play IL2 in the future is not good. |
no option in game to turn off epi filter and no new entry in conf file either, FPS have gone up but stuttering at tree top level is worse :( my fps stays about 35-40 on the ground but the micro stutters are about 1 a second
|
@Thee_oddball its because you are running the russian version, its automaticlaly removed. If you get the international version you will see the epilepsia filter option.
|
@Shrike_UK
I agree with you, I think the thought crosses a lot of peoples minds. Valve has said they will release a patch that will allow these games to run without the service should they ever go bankrupt or whatever. I'm not positive if they will or not, but if they didn't the community would most likely fix that pretty quick. I used to play a game called Interstate '76 back in the late 90's (great game) and Activision has long since shut down the multiplayer servers. This was over a decade ago and had nothing to do with digital distribution. There are many similar stories for other games out there as well. Luckily there are talented people out there that make other things possible. |

Even if Valve does go out of business, the steam program doesn't magically disappear from your computer. And since steam works perfectly fine without a net connection, you can still launch your games normally. |
True, but there are games that use Steam for multiplayer service. If Steam dies, so do the servers. Though there aren't many things in life that get an honest life time guarantee :). My old 3 1/4 inch floppies don't work anymore lol. Looks like I won't be loading up Wolfenstein shareware anytime soon :D.
Back on topic though, I'm really liking the new patch changes. If they smooth out the frames over land I'll have very few stutter moments left. I've got 20+ planes dogfighting over the channel which is more than enough for me right now as I get used to the new flight models. |
There is no chance of steam going broke - they are filthy rich and make more each day than most of us do in a lifetime.
