Key map?
So no key map for the sim?
Be nice to have one for those of us using a hotas like the ch. Bit of a pain to weed through that ini file or alt tab out of the game and scribble stuff down on a note pad. |

Anthropomorphic Control. This option limits the amount of things you can do at one time to realistic proportions, usually to no more than two things at once. As a pilot has only two hands, and as most Battle of Britain era planes did not have HOTAS-style controls with important buttons always a flick away, moving the throttle and stick will usually mean having no hands to move a flap lever or vice versa. Another important constraint enabled by this option is what was in previous titles called a Separate Engine Start option. This option is independent of the Complex Engine Management settings. Pilots in real multi-engine aircraft had to start up each engine separately. With Anthropomorphic Control option disabled you will be able to start up all aircraft engines with a single key. Otherwise you will need to individually select and start up each engine in turn. |
That Anthropomorphic option is a very interesting realism option but it doesn't answer his question about a key mapping list.
Is there a key mapping list anywhere that we can use to map the game in our HOTAS software? |
in the controls menu? as far as I can see every single control is listed......not sure what you are after? do you want a printed key map?
|
Doesn't have to be printed, just PDF or something. Although printing would be good for the guys without a second monitor.
Need something to enter all the keys into joystick software. |
in that case no.....not as far as I know, but I haven't looked in all the game folders, it probably isn't much point to have one as is because not all controls have a default assignment if you know what I mean, there are probably more functions than physical keys possibly, I can't remember the last sim I had with a full list of keys in a printable format.

I have a rise of flight keyboard layout on my desk, lots of sims have them. Flaming cliffs 2 has a different PDF for every plane in the game folder! |

If half the keys aren't even mapped then I'm pretty much screwed in terms of mapping in joystick software anyway. |

It can be done, but it's labour intensive on top of doing the TARGET map. It's labour intensive because there's so many keys and potential conflicts that have to be resolved. The other problem is it has to be redone upon re-install (or if a patch overwrites them) that's why a default mapping is best.
But yeah I'll have to figure out a key mapping plan for myself, which means the 2 hours I have free each evening I have to spend on mapping and configuring TARGET. Maybe after a week of that I'll finally have something good setup. |
Excel spreadsheet command listing/template?
I would like to have an Excel spreadsheet listing the different commands in one column, and you could enter your own corresponding key mapping in the cell/column next to it.
You could the hide all those non-mapped commands that you're not using, and thus you would have a printable one or two sheet table as your very own custom made command key reference map. What is needed for this would be a raw command listing in Excel format, which everybody could then customize for his/her own needs. Is there an Excel command template/listing in existence anywhere? In your "Documents" folder where Cliffs of Dover is, there is a file named "ConfUser.ini". Open it with Notepad and browse the section [HOTKEY BoB], and you'll find your keyboard assigned keys.
Copy those lines and paste them in a Excel Spreadsheet. If you know how to use Excel functions you can easyly split every line in two: the name of the command (leftmost part of the "=" symbol) and the asigned key (rightmost part after "=") and put each in 2 different columns. So you have a list of your assigned keys. Unfortunatley, only assigned keys are included in ConfUser file, those commands with no assigned keys aren't. In the STEAM folder of your X:\PROGRAM FILESfolder where the core of the Sim is stored there is another copy of the ConfUser.ini file. I think this is kept as the original copy, in case of needing to replace the other version. Let me know if I am right. We are all learning again all in this Sim. PD: It is funny that the "BoB" acronyme appears many times in the config files of the Sim :) , and not the ClOD or SOW :) . Even if after BoB theatre we'll probably move to warmer skies and countries. :) |
If you backup your ConfUser.ini you do not have to reassign keys after reinstall. You can also have steam cloud on to save settings there I think.
To map keys to joystick I run the game in window mode and have joystick software open next to game window. |
Keymapping
First off I have to say I'm a total neophyte when it comes to this game (I guess it is really a sim not a game). I just downloaded it today. I have a x52 pro with pedals which I got to play this sim. I've studied the saitek software and it seems it would be easiest to program with a profile using that. I've done as much reading as I can but being such a new sim there isn't much info out there.
What I don't know if what keys should I map in COD first to then map in the x52 profile? Does it make sense to make different profiles for different planes? Can you make one profile that covers most of the fighters and another for the bombers? I would like to use Complex engine management from the start, which some might say is a little unrealistic but what the heck. Oh by the way. I have a phenom II x2 550 with an ati 6950 1 gig and it runs "ok" at 1600 by 900 on my 32 inch 1080p tv. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. gordo62 (your easiest kill for sometime to come I'm sure) |
Key Map Template Found
Hi Guys,
Found this a few days ago and it may help. Its a key map for il2 Sturmovik written in 2006, but its possible to update it to Cliffs of Dover using Excel. I am currently editing it for my own setup. Can't remember who posted it so all credit to the original creator. http://www.triad773.com/video/UPDATE...uAerokraft.xls Cheers Pete. |
I've been looking for something similar, but would actually like something aircraft specific (since all planes are unique, and don't use keys others might)
Try this, it's a grid document that you can download and print. Fill in the boxes to what you have the key bound to http://www.hotas.gr/component/option...id,28/lang,en/ |
There's a pretty good base key setup at http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showt...f-Dover-FSPTPP
The keys are set up and in a file you can import in the key setting menu. Don't need to have the CH controllers to make use of that. |

I have one hat switch dedicated to engine selection like so, Up = select all engines, Down = deselect engines, Left = select left side engines, Right = select right side engines. So the engine start procedure for a 110 for example goes something like this: Fuel cocks open both(I do this by mouse)... Up, throttle 15%, down, left, engine start, down, right, engine start, up, open water radiators, open oil radiators 50%. And I'm ready for takeoff :) |
Sure.... I only fly the 109 but... am I the only guy in the world who can map all the necessary keys, joystick, throttle etc in less than 10 minutes? lol
All this talk of hours of work confuses me no end. lol And yep! I only fly with full realism. :D |
Hi Folks!

I still am in loss of trying to map all relevant function into my controllers. I would dearly need a consultation how to map things.
I do have MS Sidewinder 2 FFB stick, Saitek Throttle Quadrant, Saitek X52 throttle and CH Pro Pedals - the rest should be mapped to keyboard obviously. How the heck I should map all of these functions on this setup? The help would be most appreciated please. The most awesome end result would be a printable chart of keymapping on each controller... |
