We have the answers...
Now I get it all...IMHO
1-Promo video was made with Beta cause at time of anouncement, the COD engine was in big trouble with anti -epilepspspspspsy (;)) filter. 2-Dynamic weather and new clouds were put aside for the same reasons...DX11 also... 3-Friday's updates were WIP from 3 or 4 months ago, before the filter thing...That is why it was so hard to get videos...And the one we got are from Beta... 4-The "Official" game release is in fact posponed...That is why we have later dates for Europe and North America...And that is why official UBI website is not ready yet...Time to fix the code...And have final specs... 5-The reviews would be devastating in Europe and North America for COD if critics got the game in this actual state..They would gladly compare it to WOP and other flight sims to put it down...Especially after 6 years of work... 6- Any videos from Russia yet ? Anyway, I think these issues can be fixed in time...We just need Luthier or Oleg to come forward and tell us : Buy the game ! It will be as expected within few weeks ! Salute ! |
IMHO
+1 (i hope so) |

But then, why not worldwide same-date release ? Maybe : It takes a lot of money and time to organise a "physical" release of that magnitude...You have to find a place to rent, hire people ( girls, girls girls), secutity, management, airplane tickets, hotels, catering, journalists, media, etc. So I would say you have to prepare, hum...lets say..4 months in advance ? So just before everything went wrong ? They were so sure at that moment that everything was tight and slick...What could go wrong ? So they had to keep on going...I am pretty sure that without a 'physical" release, they would have posponed for few months... So we have later dates everywhere else..But it would have been hard to justify months of delay..They pushed has long as "reasonnable"... And that is IMHO ! ;) Salute ! |
i think in real life events were a bit more simple
1) dec 2009, oleg states intended release date by BoB anniversary 2) jan 2010 to july 2010, oleg is happy and ontrack for release 3) sept 2010 ubi gives delay deadline for end 2010, and adds "o yea, btw, you have to add this anti epilepsy layer on top of the game or you cant release it 4) oct 2010 oleg goes "f*ck f*ck f*ck" 5) nov to feb 2011 oleg goes "f*ck f*ck f*ck" and "i cant get this crap running with the ubi mess on top of my sim", and ubi adds "no further delays, money stops here" 6) march 2011 oleg goes "f*ck this mess" and "look at all the useless ungrateful forum whiners who think we can fix this mess by magic if they just whine enough" and "i need another job that is more sane" i suspect that is a more accurate reflection of events :) |

And e.g. if distribution in the US is postponed, why on earth should a different company say: Oh dear, poor fellas, we'll halt our sales as well, forget about the money now, just so you feel more comfortable. |

Well, look at UBI's website, and tell me if it is ready then... The russian release wasn't posponed...And you got my opinion on why... But It is on UBI's side that we have delays, no ?...But it doen't mean that Oleg didn't go "f*ck f*ck f*ck" and "i cant get this crap running with the ubi mess on top of my sim", ;) Salute ! |

GO back few weeks ago, and the game was to be released the 24 th...Everywhere...NOw, it has been posponed except for Russia, where a " physical" Première release was already organised... And maybe UBI knows that releasing a "too much" buggy product will have more impact on revenus then just pushing ahead the distribution for few days... Salute ! |

Besides that: 1C is a Russian company releasing a game that has a large community in Russia. For UBI, it's just a game they bought several years ago and they invested more money and time in it than they wanted. It's a niche-game for Europe and US. That's why the priorities are different. That's why it's complete overkill for UBI to coordinate with 1C. And why it's utter nonsense for 1C to wait for an international release. It's not like this is the first game with a staggered release. And look, the world is still turning. Yes, shocking but true: It's just a friggin game. A game only a minority of games care for, in the western world. Live with it. |

lol! But probably so true. |
Well I guess it's up to Ilya now to pick up the pieces and make it a solid structure:(

You know (?)....I don't think that their has EVER been a simultaneous worldwide release of ANY the "IL2 Sturmovik" games. Ever...dating back to Forgotten battles.
|
I think you're right. 2001 IL-2 was like that also I think.

Since 1C is publisher only for Russia, and is in fact independant, why was the release postponed on UBI'S side for Europe and North America ? Why 1 month later in Canada? Isn't it the same game ? Steam is ready to go for a week now...Money wise, the sooner you release, the sooner you get the money... The filter issue could explain why this happened...In Russia , they CAN bypass the filter thing, but NOT where UBI is publisher...My guess is 1C got a "break' from UBI and release was pushed back a little so they could " fix" some issues.... Salute ! |

I hope they will fix the codes and ready up a patch for them, and include them in the Europe and USA release. MugiSNK |
Right now they're using the Russian market as a form of beta-testing. They probably figure the Russian players are less whiney than their western counterparts and will thus find all the mistakes for them.

And in Canada, its a month later...No explaination for that either... What UBI anounced few weeks ago WAS a worlwide release within the same week... Any last minute delay costs $$$$....So , what happened ? Salute ! |
