Video of CoD on lowest settings

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEZSe9Dv6ig

if this vid is real surley the lowest system requirements should of been a 32mb graphics card and windows 3.1

Nike-it 03-25-2011 09:21 AM

On lowest setting the external view of the plane is surely very bad, but if you use cockpit view it turns to be ok, as opponent planes are shown with all necessary details. If this person showed some dogfight or simply other planes and not just single plane you won't write such things. It seems that the idea of the video and many others of that guy was to show that CoD is very bad, and the same thing can be done with almost every game in the world (as ther are no perfect ones yet). And I guess no one will fly in that way (alone).

tintifaxl 03-25-2011 09:25 AM

Looks like another video by Vaal and to me it looks like his intention for posting them is solely to diss CoD. :(

Kankkis 03-25-2011 09:32 AM

I think it's look good in cockpit in lowest possible settings.

Cannot wait until next week when my Steam starts downloading the game

Again? This video has been posted yesterday.

Instead of attack Vaal, would be nice to know if this video was or not from the final release.

If what we have seen in this video is correct, in the next days we'll have something more to talk about than Vaal "trolling".

Please stop to talk about what is happened yesterday, and please provide us some more official video and info.

I've already preordered the game and i confirm this, but we are still waiting for a good video with the Dalmier Benz and Merlin Engines sound.

To be a fanboy doesn't help as for trolling.

Kankkis 03-25-2011 09:37 AM

Nike can you post us something better video than those 30sek clips.

After just reading through the various posts I tend to Agree.
As to Nike-it's comment, to quote from the actual game manual posted earlier.

"Turning Model Detail
all the way down will make Cliffs of Dover look like a flight sim out of the
early 1990s!
We therefore do not recommend reducing Model Detail more than a notch or
two for anything but the lowest-end machines."

Seems some are trying to push our buttons and succeeding.

Sorry if it came across that I was putting the game down with the specs comment. To be honest this is strangely enough the most encouraging video I have seen of CoD as I am now more confident that my laptop will run the game to a reasonable level. I don't mind about the level of the ground detail but will have to crank up the detail of my spitty.

JG53Frankyboy 03-25-2011 09:42 AM

you ever set the details very low in IL2 ?
than you also see lower LOD model as externals... nothing new actually.

As I said in the other thread, I'll be able to do it a bit later, my working PC is too weak for COD and I do not want to show the video form it, as it absolutely doesn't represent the real performance on recommended configurations.

Kankkis 03-25-2011 09:45 AM

Thanks Nike, i'll be waiting:wink:

I find that video rather encouraging. The scaleability of the video settings look like at the very least, even my ageing setup will be able to handle things in such a way that they look no less good than Il-2 does for me now. Valuable information.

Awww just tell them at work that you are not feeling to well and are going home!!!!! Whats more important? career, money or US?????

Kankkis 03-25-2011 10:32 AM

Yep, it allways take a time when sim is out to config all settings to final stage, when you are happy with them, testing different graphics options, what eats frames but you don't even maybe see differences and so on....

Kankkis

Nike-it 03-25-2011 12:18 PM

Please see the screen on the lowest setting but with another plane.
Feel the difference?

choctaw111 03-25-2011 12:28 PM

I saw this video last night and then saw how people complained of how badly it looked.
My first thought was that Oleg and team have done a good job making the sim playable for lower end systems, which is exactly what so many people were crying for. Then they cry that the graphics for the lower end systems doesn't look as good as it does for faster PCs.

Bowtome 03-25-2011 01:02 PM

for a low end system like that, and its single core? then its not bad FPS at all. I remember when IL2:FB came out, with all the new water effects etc.. i struggled hitting 30 fps, many did, but we didnt care.

Low settings 2 gigs of ram. over the channel in dogfight

+1
Exactly! Well said Choctaw.

recoilfx 03-25-2011 01:23 PM

After looking at all these videos, I am increasingly convinced that the horrible stutters are caused by texture loads.

I wonder how the game would fare if it's running on a fast SSD, or entirely on a ram drive - along with a 2gb gfx card.

150GCT_Veltro 03-25-2011 01:23 PM

No trolling here. This mate has posted some wonderfull pics about CoD, but look at his statement:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...reenshots.html

"At the moment, this game is unplayable without a patch. It doesn't matter if you have super-computer because it will lag even on lowest settings. The game runs in 32 bit mode only, runs only on single core CPU and uses about 1gig of ram in quick mission over sea with one other plane. I don't know what anti-epilepsy they are speaking because I'm about to have one with additional rage from being so frustrated. There are bugs - easily visible that should not have been at this stage of a game. Frame rate oddly enough shows 30-40 fps using in game counter. But my eyes sees 10 fps, if that. Patch is needed. And fast.".

Some of my team pilots has already upgrade their PC for CoD.

So a reality question in a reality day.

Is it true?

Movie posted above is nice, but is taken from a 1 vs 1 dogfight over the sea.

Well, enough of that " lowest minimum not bad " settings...;)
The real test is with top end machines like I72600K and GTX580...That would tell us how COD really performs...
Otherwise, we assume that the poor performance is allways PC's fault...
IS it reasonnable to think that there are NO top end machines at 1C ?
That they did not test it at full throttle with top gear ?...Naaaaaaa...

I am still waiting

Salute !

ice_crusher 03-25-2011 01:40 PM

i have an i7 2600k oc and a gtx570 with 16gb of ram, but i don't have the game yet, sadly i'm not russian and i don't have a russian friend. So you have to wait till i get it on the 30. that i can tell you how it is.

Maybe those are fps before they go through the filter.
I wonder what other fps counter show.

C_G 03-25-2011 02:15 PM

Veltro,
what are your system specs? And those of your teammates?
This is a bone fide question, not one to start an argument.
The reason I ask is because the vids from IgroMir only exhibited serious problems when low over the ground, and we know what specs those computers had...
Cheers,
C_G

Yeah...But, at Igromir, was this "filter" thing already in the code ?
Not sure....
I think that Luthier or Oleg has to come forward and give us an up to date information regarding the actual status of the game...
No one knows for sure what to do or think about COD...Not good...

Salute !

C_G 03-25-2011 02:54 PM

Thanks for your reply Veltro, the fact that you're having such issues with a rig that powerful is, obviously, a cause for concern. Clearly your rig is better than the standard IgroMir machines.
Perhaps there is a setting, or combination of settings, that's causing the problem?
Anyway, thanks for letting us know- This won't stop me, personally, from picking up ClOD since I'm sure Oleg+1C will address the issues in the near future.
C_G

Edit: just got caught up on the whole "epilepsy filter" issue... if accurate (translated Luthier post is not entirely clear to me) this is terrible news... Hopefully it will be addressed one way or another to make it user-optional... what a nightmare :(

C_G 03-25-2011 02:59 PM

We should be getting more user reports in the coming days... of course, most of them (all? - not sure how Veltro got a copy, I'm going to assume he's Italian) will be in Russian on Sukhoi.ru...

Sorry mate but i've quote a post from SimHQ. I was not myself.

However i doubt my friend could run the game much better than me.
