First impressions (russian forum thread)
Some of the first lucky owners in russia already installed the game, and they are telling about it in this forum thread (russian), something to follow up as it will get supplied with more posts:

Looks like a buggy release as expected :-\
|
Oh dear. Well, they should have any teething issues sorted by next week and our North American friends should have a polished product that'll run on a Blackberry by the 19th.
|
hah first guy has ancient PC and complaining performance is weak...guy with I5 2500 and GTX460 averages 45-50 over cities (external) and 35-45 in cockpit. External sounds are ala IL2 which is.....lame....damn.
He said cockpit detail is fantastic. Also water is very good (but we know that from earlier vids). |
Take a chill pill Wanderfalke.. And stop spamming every post with the freakin engine sound.. Jess..
|
why you created duplicated threads?

The developer diary someone posted on that forum is pretty awesome aswell, those ground vehicles: holy babalony

Ok, I'm confused!
Read about videos posted earlier - some debate over the motives of the Russian guy who posted them (see Jason 777's thread) AND over whether they were beta or not?! I've seen 2 short vids of glitches on the Sukhoi site. Nothing much else? Has any video been posted with authentic final sound? Anything with crew chatter? Ground control voices, etc that could verify authentic release status? Or do I just have to be patient? ---Got beer now. All is well |

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=19425Jason from 777 Studios clarifies the information about the guy posting the videos earlier this day.
OP why did you start 2 identical threads? |
I mostly hope to see if the cockpits are actually clickable like in MSFS

We have to expect bugs ,no software is released perfect! Shogun 2 Total war is bug city I hear, will take some time to fix .. if SEGA is willing? COD shouldn't be as bad.
He 111. |
It's been awfully quiet. it's about 3 am (the 25th) there as far as I can tell, and other than what seems to have been a troll earlier we haven't really heard much. I figure everyone's either enthralled with it, or we aren't going to hear anything useful for about another 8 or so hours. I'm hoping for the former.

Then again who knows? Maybe Ubi made them disable it to save us from carpal tunnel syndrome due to using our mouse too much, just like they made them introduce an anti-epilepsy filter that lowers frame rates  Oh well, i trust the dev team to patch it up to a standard that corrects what's been forced on them by outside factors and idiots in management during the coming weeks. Let's hope they can do it easily (having problems imposed on you by others can be demoralizing sometimes), the game manages to overcome its initial hiccups and sell well and we get to fly it the way it was meant to be flown ;) I'm irritated at the way the publishers handled this but i'm still optimistic. Rome wasn't built in one day and most of the times the Romans didn't have someone like Ubi demanding silly things like "make the Colosseum float in mid-air please" :-P |
I agree, most of the posts are from people with mid range to poor hw specs complaining about FPS.
ANy news regarding the head bobbing etc? |

Just so you know, every game publishing company makes demands like this. Nintendo, EA, Sony, Ubisoft, whatever. EVERY GAME ends up with the "epilepsy filtering whatever that is" (meaning just changing light intensity differences) and further must have health disclaimers. It's a common thing, it's there for legal reasons. I think that even animation movies watch out for "dangerous flickers". So I don't see why people want to burn down ubisoft because of this. |

Your so full of it, you have no facts and you keep on saying people with 570/580 are having problems i still cant see them.. again your full of it, troll somewhere else. |

Head bobbing is mentioned in the manual and it's also visible in the realism options screen if you watch the developer diary video that's been posted in another thread. ;) Quote:
Truth be told, they could have communicated a lot of stuff in a better manner, this being one of them. A temporary FPS glitch on such a complex product that will receive loads of patching in the coming weeks is not the end of the world, i agree. It's just that people could compromise easier if they had been given some time to digest this information, that's all really ;) |
Unless I didn't understand Luthier correctly, what he said was they implemented a last minute solution to fix the epileptic issue using shaders.
Of course, last minute implementations is not optimized, FPS will suffer - that doesn't explain the horrible stutters, random crashes, interfaces bugs and misspelling reported at sukhoi.ru. It's a rushed game, and Ubisoft made the wise choice on delaying the US launch. They would been lynched if the standard is set this low. I will buy a copy day one to show my support, but good luck to Team Maddox. I hope their work will shine through by subsequent patches. God speed. |

It is not rushed, they had what 5 years? I don't think ubisoft delayed for debugging reasons. You can't really fix much in a month and they made themselves far worse (SH5). You can't expect a perfect game from the start especially when your game life is expected to be 10 years. IL2 Sturmovik has still issues but I can live with them, I mean the game has such a wide scope. If you remember 10 years ago IL2 came out, as CoD it had its issues, such as stuttering, linear campaign, weird physics bugs, it wasn't better for its time. Still even with the first playable of the game I was amazed at how it felt flying the 109. I think we can expect the same of this one. It'll get better after some years, in 10 years it'll look outdated but will be wider and more bugfree and if Maddox Games is still around we'll get something new and again some people won't be happy. As for patches, IL2 was 50% free patches. If we can expect the same I'm happy. |
When I said 'rushed', I didn't mean the development time. All signs pointed to Maddox games running out of money - they had to have a publisher and get the game out.
This is game is rushed because they didn't have the time to polish - very crucial these days. I didn't expect a perfect game. Maddox Games is very much a small team, a productive one at that - especially for the magnitude of what they are trying to achieve. Unfortunately, it seems this is more than they can chew. One of the goals of Cliffs of Dover is supposed bring in new blood, however, the general public will not be as understanding as us fans. As such, I hope Maddox Games can deliver, just as 777 studio. |
