Hey!
I wounder if i can run the game on my pc.
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS m4a78-em
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 64bit.
PROCESSOR: AMD phenom ii x4 965 black edition. 3.40Ghz.
RAM: 2GB Twister ddr2
VIDEO CARD: MSI geforce n250 gts Twinfrozr 1gb

Do i get the minimum requirements or medium ?
Will it run Il 2 sturmovik Cliffs of dover on OK settnings ?
I guess i need to upgrade the ram up to 4GB and a better video card, right ?

You need to at least double the amount of ram you are running.

When I upgraded to Win7-64 I upped my ram to 6 Gigs.

Hveding 03-23-2011 10:56 PM

Aha. Then i will upgrade it to 4 GB.
But is my Video card good for this game ?

Until we start to see use of DX11 that card should be fine.

Okey, thanks man :)
Looking forward to this game! Love the first one in the series, and i have big ekspectations to the game.

Is it my age? I don't understand why deliberately misspelling words is fashionable. Is it some post-ironic statement about institutions? I really don't understand why people go out of their way to do it.

I think it will run it without problems.

That videocard will put down in the minimum spec area. I have a GTX 260 and have a hard time getting good frames on "medium" settings with some of the new games coming out. On top of that your DDR2 RAM is going to need some upgrading soon. Only bad part about that is you have to upgrade the motherboard to support DDR3 RAM. But some good DDR2 1066 with 5-5-5-15 timings should be alright. Go with a 2 x 2gb configuration instead of 4 x 1GB for best results. But your CPU will be great, keep it.

Imo DDR2 to DDR3, even a triple channel DDR3 setup, is mariginal compared to the GPU/CPU. Just aslong as you have enough of it for the game to fit in. Changin a motherboard just to replace the ram would be a waste. If you do it you better swap the rest of the gear also for better.

Best bet would be to upgrade to that ddr2 to 4gb and then think about a new GPU after the release, when we know more about CoD performance.

+1
Up the ram to 2 X 2 GB and see how it runs with your card.

Nike-it 03-24-2011 07:18 AM

You definitely should add RAM to run COD, especially for flying near towns and cities. The graphic card should be ok for normal settings.

Hveding 03-24-2011 11:48 AM

Thanks guys for excellent advice!
I know a little about computers, so i have always wanna go for 2 x 2gb :p
And then i can upgrade to 2 x 2 gb again, so then i have 8GB. But will see how it works with 4 gb first, then upgrade the video card...

Sorry about my english... It's a little bad.

Hveding 03-24-2011 11:50 AM

But would it not be best to upgrade to 8 GB ? Because many planes up in the air, and flak guns fire on you... That would give a hard job to the cpu and ram.. ?

unless the progi can adress 8GB(which it afaik can't): No.

It can, if you take the 64 bit exe.

But you're right, it won't make use of the extra ram anyway.

Hveding 03-24-2011 12:01 PM

So my motherboard can only take use of 4 GB ?

According to Google:

max. RAM: 16GB (if you take 4x 4GB)

Hveding 03-24-2011 12:24 PM

On my motherboard it says... Can take use of 4 ram bricks, but will lower the frequency to 800. But you can set it up to 1066 or whatever the ram bricks frequency is..

LOL! and +1. Not EVERYONE in this forum are native English speakers so try to show some tolerance and be patient.

As for the system specs, don't worry about DDR3 RAM just buy a 2GB stick or more if you can afford it, CPU is good and the graphics card will probably not do highest settings but medium-high depending on your monitor resolution. We don't know how it will run yet but this is my educated guess.:)

I smelly a hypocrite.

Hveding 03-24-2011 12:54 PM

Thanks everyone :)
Will probably buy a 4GB memory.

It's a page from Norway, but you'll see what it is :)
Think im going for two of those.
54.48 dollar per bricks :p

addman 03-24-2011 01:02 PM

I think Novotny was referring to the annoyingly named MSI videocard "TwinFrozr". (it actually is spelt like that ) and not having a dig at anyone's post.

Eklund89 03-24-2011 04:47 PM

Lustigt att det är så många svensktalande på forumet. Bättre RAM är win. Jag har 6GB DD3 med rätt så hög PC. Jag hoppas att det räcker. i7@2.66 och HD5870 känns som att jag borde komma en liten bit på det iaf.

in english: get more RAM.

As i said, some more DDR2 should be fine. I ran DDR2 1066 just until about a year ago, I know that it's fine. What matters the most is how much of it you have. The difference between 2gb and 4gb is quite noticeable when your system is under strain. And another thing to think about are the CAS timings. Lower the better. Some slower, super low latency RAM will benefit your system better than fast RAM with high timings, especially when combined with a good CPU. But honestly I love my fast DDR3 1600, and comparatively I noticed a nice boost in framerate. But then again I'm running 7-7-7-21 timings at 1.6v... so the best of both worlds.

addman 03-24-2011 05:46 PM

The difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is negligible, more is better.

Hveding 03-24-2011 05:47 PM

Hveding 03-24-2011 06:57 PM

Hehe :p Svenska och bor i Finland ^^
Looking forward to IL 2 STURMOVIK CLIFFS OF DOVER?! :D
jag gör det! Looking good.

machoo 03-25-2011 07:55 AM

They say ypou need 12GB of RAM to play , that is just because the game is optimised horrible - 12gb is massive overkill. The plus is atleast 12GB isnt much more then buying the game itself.
