Thanks.Should make some folks happy, at least until they start complaining about another subject.

Bump! Spread the word!:)

Royraiden 03-23-2011 01:27 PM

Would that mean we could buy from another region and be able to play the single player without problems??

IMHO yes, because no Steam, no restriction in any way

My question; will there be an in-game server browser or not ? A Steam lobby is IMO a nice to have, but if there is an in-game server browser, why should I connect via Steam on my own dedicated server ?

Makes no sense at all....

I imagine steam is used for the in game server browser but if has been said that hyperlobby and other third party brewers (damn iphone SERVERS not BREWERS) can be used.

Don't forget the SolidShield online activation ... that could be region limited ...

Something else on your mind, Krupi? ;)

No Steam for SP eh?
I think I'll wait till that's been verified though as before the official word was that you did have to use Steam even for SP.

LOL if you have been noticing a lot of bad spelling odd words in my posts its because I have been using an Iphone and its sodding system changes words without telling me :D

It can be quite funny at times, the one below is a classic.

I was joking around with a mate and sent a text saying that I was going to "Kick the s@it out of him"... it decided to change one of the words to lick, no prizes for guessing which word. :(

The brewers would probably do a better job than steam.

Thats more like it, I seriously doubt Steam has anything to do with any of the problems we are observing at present.

Another subject like the retail version not being linked to Steam :-P

Lol, true

In all honesty though, i think this is a very good compromise. If i want Steam integration, i buy from Steam and get what i want. If i don't want to use Steam, i buy a boxed edition from a retailer and i'm good to go.

Options are there, people can choose, everyone is happy. I just wish we knew that from the get go, it would have saved me a lot of smashing against brick walls arguing with people who though lack of options and forcing everyone to the same platform was going to be good for the game :-P

Except for Gimpymoo. :)

I would be tempted to have one of my mates across the pond get a boxed version for me so I could have it a bit early, but besides the uncertainty of the whole region locking thing, there's the whole "England pays half again what everyone else does" problem. Makes me laugh that we're going apoplectic over gas approaching $4 a Gallon here.

Fearfactor 03-24-2011 01:27 AM

I'll have to wait for others get the DVD version and verify whether this is true or not. It makes sense that if they have online activation through solidshield that they wouldn't need a second activation via steam too. So this hopefully turns out to be true.
