New UBI UK website is here (almost)

http://il2sturmovik.ubi.com/cliffs-o...ome/index.aspx

Looking promising

Looks good, lets hope they keep the really naff and tacky "glamour" pics off it. I'm sure they will, people in the the UK are well past '70s style promotions thankfully.

Jaws2002 03-23-2011 02:00 PM

Pathetic.

The game is out tomorow in Russia and UBI doesn't even have a website.
Oleg should sue this lazy thieves for not honoring part of the contract: advertising.

HFC_Dolphin 03-23-2011 02:03 PM

Not having a dedicated website for a new game in 2011 is just...I can't express it :)

In any case, since the game is that good, who cares for a website?
Community has everything needed, from lobby to websites that can accommodate thousands of downloads, so let Ubi or Steam or whoever else is involved continue their sleep.

Ehh? This site has been up for ages...

Aha, look again my friend. They have made some subtle changes. There are new sections across the top, e.g. see http://il2sturmovik.ubi.com/cliffs-o.../key-features/
;)

The 'old' site which was http://il2sturmovik.ubi.com/cliffs-of-dover/en-GB/home/coming-soon.aspx is now broken. If you tried typing in the url without the coming-soon.aspx at the end, you used to see a mess of work in progress, then latterly it was 'access forbidden', but now it is the website 'proper'.

Just checked the link and IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover - Collector's Edition
for Ireland :)

Dedicated Fan Site.....

The original blue-byte website for Il-2 was - er...filled with content months before release.

I can't imagine it would take that long to collect Oleg's dev updates into a blog (at the very least). I've been suspicious of UBI (eg. on DRM decisions - for obvious reasons after SH-V), but I'm now willing to agree and say that this is pathetic on the whole.

CoD is supposed to kick off three additional sims in the next two years... it should be being "built" as a genre. But we're not really seeing much effort or intent from the bureaucracy.

JG52Uther 03-23-2011 04:59 PM

One week before release in the UK,they finally think about making a website...
ubi FTW...

highness 03-23-2011 05:02 PM

that website is a joke ...

NNFFL=Clovis= 03-23-2011 05:02 PM

The new features of the website are not clearly appearing when google Chrome is used as a browser...

But for heavens sake, that page has been there for many weeks...

EDIT: and yes, they have added stuff to it today, first it did not work in chrome for me either - but now it does...

And yes, I am sick and tired of this damn "community" whining and bashing everything.

Qpassa 03-23-2011 05:40 PM

err... 34.99€
incl. VAT?

Yes, but being a development manager myself I can REALLY understand that Oleg and Ilya has stopped coming here. The general tone here and at SimHQ and the Ubisoft forums makes me loose hope completely for the further development of any serious sims...

Change the language to Spanish. The price there is 59.95€ for the standard edition and 69.95€ for the CE. The german price is 49.90€ for the SE and 69.90€ for the CE.

How does that make sense?

Ever heard of the Big Mac index?

I'm wondering why the difference between the german SE and CE is 20€ and the spanish is 10€.

OK, I get your point. That's a bit weird.

furbs 03-23-2011 06:39 PM

They should really think about removing the bit about DX11 before somebody sues them ;)

Thee_oddball 03-23-2011 09:30 PM

You think Oleg is a genius autist?

ytareh 03-24-2011 12:24 AM

My ecstacy at finding (eventually) somewhere to order an english language Collectors Edition was short lived when I discovered there was a glitch in their ordering page and I STILL cant order.I guess I will have to settle for the german language version I have ordered from amazon.de Ubi really are a joke.

And what about THIS nonsense!

"We'd like to keep you informed via email about product updates, upgrades, special offers and pricing. If you do not wish to be contacted via email, please ensure that the box is not checked. "

A blatant attempt to mislead people into recieving spam emails...
