Two Weeks

Can't believe nobody thought to post 'Two Weeks' when it finally (probably) is actually 'Two Weeks.' Must be all this breast beating about DRMs and Steam and being able to boil a kettle on the cpu if you fly over Kent.

Two Weeks.

Hecke 03-11-2011 11:49 AM

Either gold status info by Oleg today or the game is delayed.

TheGrunch 03-11-2011 11:49 AM

Be sure!

Cowboy10uk 03-11-2011 12:03 PM

Noone Posted two weeks, because, to be honest, The Chances of it coming out in two weeks, are very very slim indeed. Still no news on Gold, Dates being pushed back on games sites e.g. Just flight , GoGamer etc. Oleg and Team have already stated they dont know themselves where the sim will be available. Ok Granted Ubisoft have finally admitted the the Uk Collectors edition is a Ubi Exclusive, and unavailable in the US, Which is a great way to kick Oleg and his team in the Teeth for all the hard work they have done.

If i'm proved wrong then great i'll be very happy for that, However I think ive got more look winning the lottery than having this to fly in the 2 weeks stated.

Not trying to be Negitive just realistic.

in fact most probably it will be 3 weeks....most web shops pushed release date to 31 st of March...so legendary 2 weeks joke never dies

zauii 03-11-2011 12:22 PM

All the posts of random websites and their dates are useless, just wait of official word.

May I ask something that sounds a bit silly? Sometimes I read about games "Going Gold". What exactly does it mean when a game "goes gold"?

The application is 100% "bugs free" and is ready to be published.

CharveL 03-11-2011 12:37 PM

Actuall it refers to the pressing of a gold plated master from back in the days of those non-digital frisbees we called "LPs" or "Records". this gold master would be the template for all the reproduction vinyl records.

It carried over from the music industry to the software industry and indicates that no more revisions are being made before all the retail release DVDs are burned.

LOL

If that was true, no software would ever go gold.

The term "Gold" is from the Master-Media that is used for mass-production. When this master is ready the CD/DVDs are being mass produced.

The term is largely outdated in the days of downloadable content and beyond that, the production-cylcle of 2-3 weeks was also minimized due to better manufacturing methods, less production-failures and faster transportation.

T}{OR 03-11-2011 01:06 PM

Everything except official statements about the delay is pure speculation.

Hopefully we will know more in todays update, provided there is one.

Two weeks, be sure!

TheGrunch 03-11-2011 01:06 PM

I think that's why "bug free" was in quotes. ;)

I think we can forget the official release date.

Oleg logs to this forum, posts a video and some screens and leaves just as there was nothing going on at the moment...

Er, I know what you mean. Doesn't really feel like he's 14 or so days from having something central to his working life hitting the shelves. Still, in the absence of firm info either way I'll stick to believing in a March release, say in about two weeks?

I think we're in a "treat 'em mean. Keep 'em keen" scenerio!

Blackdog_kt 03-11-2011 05:38 PM

My take on things is that they are probably busy sorting out their first post-release steps and possibly the first patch.

They have two publishers (or maybe even three if it will eventually be sold on Steam as well, alongside 1c and Ubi) whose job is to do the promotion and sell the game, it's not their job to do the promotion if they don't self-publish it. Their job is to code stuff and by what i've seen during the closing months it's obvious that small, often difficult to spot yet important details are being revealed in each update.

I'd say i'm happier having them optimizing stuff until the last possible moment. Don't get me wrong, i still like the updates and expect them every week, but if the difference between a 1 minute video with a few screenshots and a full-blown 10 minute promo done to marketing standards is even a day's worth of optimizations and bug fixes getting lost, i prefer to have the optimizations take priority. Your mileage may vary of course.

All games are not announced "gold". Few actually are.

Anyway, it's 3 weeks :-P

Can I just ask what exactly it was that you expected him to do......seeing as that is what he does every Friday?

So he does the same as he does every week and suddenly that is suspicious?

What exactly would have reassured you that everything was still on track? Should he add at the bottom of every post he makes from now on in: 'Don't worry everyone - it will STILL be out on the 25th' ?

I'm really not trying to be stupid or say that you're not entitled to your opinion, but it seems that if nothing more has been said it is probably because nothing has changed.

Just ask like I did three weeks ago. He said 25th back then. Half way down the page.

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...=18803&page=26

easyhomewin 03-12-2011 11:45 AM

perhaps oleg himself does'nt know, I would imagine the last two weeks of trying to finish a game are stressful and as things stand they are still trying to work towards the 25/3/11 barring any last minute problems. In this case perhaps no news is good news.

Richie 03-12-2011 12:29 PM

That's crazy. The stores are the ones that have no idea.

Hecke 03-12-2011 12:33 PM

amazon.de still says march 24

The Kraken 03-12-2011 01:29 PM

So far all signs point to a staggered release with Europe (and probably CIS) on March 24th, and North America (possibly the rest of the world) on April 19th. No European sites have changed the release yet, while most US ones have done so over the last few weeks.

Not that this makes much sense with download versions; maybe that's the very reason though why Ubi is doing this.

Ravenous 03-13-2011 06:01 PM

well, it seems the release date is 24th/25th but i just thought i'd see if there was anything new from UBI, and i managed to find 24/03/2011 AND 31/03/2011

both of them on the norwegian site

not sure what that means, but UBI is apparently not even agreeing with themselves on the exact date :D

Matt255 03-14-2011 09:04 AM

I think we can be lucky if they release it this month.

Olegs update post ("next week probably some battle scenes") doesn't sound like the release is that close, because next week would simply be the last possibility for an update like that.

Also no news about all those feature videos (with Oleg narrating and Luthier translating), which were about to be released after going gold (also no mention about that, even though no gold-status message doesn't mean that it didn't go gold yet).

I think a release sometime mid-april is the most likely.

Just wait and see and don't trust the release date of any shop.

Jumo211 03-14-2011 09:25 AM

Where did some of you guys saw " be sure ! " phrase ?
I always saw " be shure " in Oleg's replies

Bobb4 03-14-2011 09:28 AM

Not a single preview from any site...
Honestly a March release date is not going to happen.
Look at the hype Ubisoft normally throws at titles means only one thing, this game is nowhere near finished.
There is just no way a publisher would leave themselves under a month to promo a game.
Silenthunter 5 had months of promo's. This is supposed to be the next big thing and Oleg is talking maybe some battle footage.
Yeah, the last time Ubisoft were this active about a game was when Harpoon 4 was about to be released.
What a great game that turned out to be :(

DarkAdrien 03-14-2011 11:15 AM

Guys, you are all talking about CoD as if it were one of the top sales games from Ubisoft. CoD is not (and in my opinion it is better) Assassin's Creed or H.A.W.X, it still is a niche-product which Ubisoft will not spend much $$$ on for advertising.

I do not see any reason why CoD should be released late after 25th of March, at least the download version.

Bowtome 03-14-2011 11:20 AM

No harm in releasing first so us in the Know can get it it, then advertise it.

TacKY 03-14-2011 03:19 PM

It is even on Steam yet and it set to release in under two weeks. I think unless it is on Steam by this Friday, there is no hope for a March release and all the lackluster videos with no sound for a game that is about to be released is a little disconcerting.

mr71mb0 03-14-2011 03:28 PM

I really enjoy and appreciate the weekly posts of info but in my mind and supposedly this close to release we should all be pretty familiar with the final product by now. Most games are Gold more than 2 weeks ahead of the release date. I have a nagging feeling that CoD may slip.

If that's not the case then I don't think the lack of solid release info is very good. I just know that none of this will matter once I have it installed and am taking off for the 1st time.

I have pre-orderd from Game.co.uk (digital download) which still states 23rd March. But if a steam version is available I will switch to that.

Blackdog_kt 03-14-2011 10:57 PM

Since i wanted a collector's edition, i'm going to have to get it via a relative who's studying abroad in the UK anyway.

In that sense, i will either have to wait for it to be delivered on my relative's doorstep and then mailed back to me (which could take an extra week or so), or wait until my relative flies back home around the middle of April and delivers it in person.

In any case, since i'm in for a bit of a wait whatever i decide to do and i'm opting for a CE, i'm more concerned about having the box safely arrive in my hands than the exact date it will do so.
