there you go Tree.... @ 6:00 hes flying over a town... seems pretty smooth to me.

Robert 03-10-2011 05:28 PM

Thanks Red Too. Watching now.

kestrel79 03-10-2011 05:37 PM

Yes it does seem very smooth over a larger city. BUT did you guys notice the building popup? Just like IL2 on highest settings.

I hope this is adjustable on CoD so we can push the popups back, I swear I have seen other video (Igomir footage) with much better building draw distance and good fps.

I'm sure you will need a hefty pc to make it happy.

We shall all be able to find out in a few weeks, let's be patient. I can't wait!!! :)

chiefrr73 03-10-2011 05:41 PM

Now let us see on what will be complained about again and again lol

jt_medina 03-10-2011 06:08 PM

at 6:18 and 6:36 seems to run very well over that big city...

The eye pupils of the pilot are not properly modeled. Definitely I won't buy it... ;)

I'm sure from past history there is a 95% chance his comment will have a negative tone. ;)

LOL nice now have you thought about what you are going to complain about next?

Im about to make a whine post about Big Ben, the time shown does not reflect the time of day :mad:

Rubberchicken 03-10-2011 07:05 PM

I got the impression the pilots head was pressed against the canopy when the plane was in a spin, simulating centrifugal forces.

Either that or he was a window licker...

Tree_UK 03-10-2011 07:19 PM

Some good footage but why is the guy talking about breakfast cereal? listen from 5.38 and he clearly mentions CoCo pops!!?

Sauf 03-10-2011 07:25 PM

maybe the guns go "snap crackle pop" Sound must be porked Tree :)

furbs 03-10-2011 07:32 PM

Some of the footage is great, the lighting and landscape low down looks very nice, but i wonder whats going on with this shot of the landscape...

That's more than likely footage taken on one of the devs computers. I saw lots of old footage yet again. But I was happy to see them getting some real pilots playing it. I really wonder what their impressions were?!

You can't really tweak the colours and then complain that it looks unrealistic. Excuse me if you haven't done so, but it looks that way.
The screeenshot I added is unchanged.

It looks fine to me. Much better than those over saturated pictures we saw a couple of months ago. The French coast looks like this I believe.

TacKY 03-10-2011 08:09 PM

Shame that only Russian sites are getting videos.

Not done any tweaking...maybe it was when i changed to JPEG from BMP...anyway i was more on about the low res detail not the colours.

OK.
Sorry if I offended you. It was not my intention. It just looked different.

notafinger! 03-10-2011 11:50 PM

What stick was he using in that video?

Waching the video i got the impression that they are fairly high up (doesnt show to good in just one screen capture imo) Maby 4500-5500m? vild guess on my part though.

Hopefully thats why the ground looks like it does, or as u say low res, hopefully.

Heliocon 03-12-2011 02:13 AM

I thought it looked great, until the buildings started growing out of the ground where previously there was only trees

Blackdog_kt 03-12-2011 05:03 AM

This is because of the simplified construction worker modeling due to the lack of adequate hardware power. When we get the next generation of CPUs i'm sure we'll be able to see some little people cutting down those trees, making planks and pillars from them and using them to build those houses as we fly over. Then they will not magically appear out of thin air anymore.

Sorry, the image just flashed through my mind and i couldn't resist :-P

In all seriousness though, there's no use debating this unless we know the specs of that PC and the settings used. It looked fine in this week's tiger moth video, also judging by a couple of frame jumps it seems it's the real deal and not a render through the ingame "export to avi with no frame loss" tool.

TheGrunch 03-12-2011 10:58 AM

I want to see the game run maxed out on Phat's rig. :D

You know I would rather have some stutters then that jarring LOD/object appearance. But that is not CPU limited, thats a GPU problem you see there. The cpu would not limit the popping, that is most likely do to as you said low graphics settings (so why are they showing it?) or really bad coding and therefore bad memory management which prevents them from loading the objects into Vram or rendering them. Again thats GPU not CPU.

Richie 03-12-2011 09:35 PM

Looks really good. Very good report. I wish they did one like that in English. I think my 12 gigs of ram will do the trick 8-)

In the future (even possible now), there will be no LOD models. Just one model... and depending on distance, the GPU will reduce it to the bare necessity of polygons. No popping any more.
