April 19 in the North America and March 24 in Europe ?

Why is the download version available only on April 19 in the US and Canada (UBISoft and Amazon.com) and March 24 in Europe ?

Its a little bit weird...

Chivas 03-08-2011 06:43 AM

I agree it doesn't make any sense. Its not like they will be all downloading from the same server. I would imagine Canada would download from a Canadian UBI Server...etc Even if countries were downloading from the same server it could be days apart not a month.

So even though I live in America, why can't I just download the "Euro" version?

"Is there somthun spesial about thu 'merican version?"

I mean, it is the internet, right?

I d/l the Russian version of DCS Blackshark a few months prior to it's release. The Cryllic was a bit challenging, but...

As I understand it Steam is regionally locked. So a game bought in one region will not work in another.

This is assuming Steam is a must.If it is an option then all bets are off.

Note:This is how I understand it.If this is not how it works it will not be the first time I am wrong.

You are right Troll2k but not all games on Steam are region locked, it depends on what agreement is struck with Steam and the publisher / developer.

Troll2k 03-08-2011 10:41 PM

Since I have seen on a site that is selling the dvd that it was for a certain region I assumed it was regionally locked.

Example: boostep.com hxxp://www.boostep.com/sturmovik-cliffs-dover-pcdvd-p-375890.html

Note: Change xx to tt in link.I was not sure if live links were ok.

I doubt it will be released almost a month early in Europe.

I found a boxed version for sale on gogamer.com. Hopefully it's not some sort of fantasy. And hopefully it's in the US.

derp?

Troll2k 03-09-2011 01:03 AM

The operative phrase from the Gogamer site is:"Order now and we will ship it to you as soon as it is available."

flyboy4612 03-09-2011 01:08 AM

Yeah, I took note of the "As soon as it is avaliable" as well. Who knows how long that will be but I felt like being optimistic!

Yes, I ordered from gogamer a couple of weeks ago and it gives March 25th as the release date. I had originally placed a digital order from Ubisoft and it was a March 22nd date. I canceled out when I found the boxed version at gogamer. I live in the good old USA. But I get it when I get it. Still having fun with Il-2 and ROF.

flyboy4612 03-09-2011 03:02 AM

I've been playing ROF as well. I've been doing a good deal of training for CoD with my FSX Spitfire from A2A simulations

In most computer drives, users are allowed to change the region code up to five times However, if the number of allowances reaches zero, the region last used will be permanent even if the drive is transferred to another computer

google "changing region code dvd " see what you find :)

The fixes for region changing appear to be for software that plays videos. Is it the same for regionally locked data DVDs?

Virtual DVD player Vs. Windows reading data.

Stachel 03-10-2011 01:46 AM

Gogamer.com just moved their US DVD release from 3/25 back to 4/19

This may be an option for a 3/24 download for those of us in the west
