Steam for online? First time I have seen that!
|

Is this available to download right now ?? I pre-ordered Collectors edition @ Ubi... |
I'm glad to see its going to be on steam. Don't have to mess with updates.
|
I guess it's not mandatory to have Steam. This is probably the steam enabled version in a digital download release for people who like steam. Since we know there's another copy protection system as well, my guess is that the boxed editions will not require steam.
|
^ Pretty sure you're right with what you said.
Still asking myself if the true Steam download version will still make use of the Tages-like copy protection system. Some games sold on Steam do, even if it's kind of pointless due to the way Valve's system works. Even if EA Games isn't my favorite publisher, I still greatly appreciated it when they decided to remove all of their 5-time activation limits from their games sold on Steam. |
Is there a "hard" collectors addition available anywhere?

Dont buy it then, its your loss. I think that makes it pretty clear steam is needed. But i reckon you need to get over yourself, its not the extreme ubi or rise of flight drm. Probably the most user friendly and you can play offline. |

I am happy it's on steam, could not have asked for a better thing to happen. This will give all the computer novices out there a massive helping hand in patching (they do it automatically) plus I can download my game anywhere.
|
I like steam as well, it can check your install for faults, lets you interact with other players who play the game, gives you an ingame overlay with all kinds of functions and lots of other things.
But aside from that, the only thing I notice when playing a steam game, is the "Starting your game" message and that's it. So you're skipping CoD because you don't 'like' steam? I doubt you have interest in CoD in the first place, anyway, your loss:rolleyes: |
As long as it works i'm fine with it. Fine doesn't mean i have to like it, it just means i'm going to tolerate it, because no matter how useful it is i prefer to be able to mod my games and/or rollback a patch if it's causing me problems without having to backup the entire game folder. Generally speaking, i dislike having added layers of complexity that can interfere with my gaming. I don't say everyone should feel the same and that's where the magic word comes in: options. If things are optional and not forced across the board, a lot more people are going to be happy because the end product will work either way.
People are free to have their own opinions and calling them idiots because they dislike steam is like calling someone an idiot for not liking the colour purple: it's a friggin' matter of taste for crying out loud :-P If they don't like it they won't buy it and guess what, it's their right to do so. |
I'm not buying it as long as it has a Steam requirement! Not no way, not no how......

By it being available and playable online through steam, the exposure to potential gamers grows exponentially. This is a helpful step for the life of this franchise. |

Also brick and mortor stores are going the way of the Dodo, people need to get used to things like Steam or simply give up gaming. |
What u have against Steam???
I simply dont get it. Its the easiest way getting a game on your pc or mac.(fully working and auto patched) Naturally steam is working offline! In 10 years there will be hardly more cds/dvd..... The CD will die! |
I'm tired of listen "ohhh Ubi ohh Ubi" "oohh Steam ohh Steam" "ohh DRM". Are you listening to yourselves? Everyone is crying like childs and NO ONE has installed the game yet. You want CoD? then install the damn Steam and use the damn DRM.
and THEN, if you have problems, come here and cry. |

Here's some much worse news: Just Flight release is delayed! :(
"IL-2 Cliffs of Dover (PRE-ORDER - released 31 March)" |
Excuse the fact that I have to ask, but what is this steam thing everyone is talking about? I've been around flight sims for 15 years and I'm slightly embarassed I don't know!

Steam is a digital distribution system for games, see http://store.steampowered.com/
