IL2 - An Obsession!
How obsessed are you?
I just upgraded my system just in time for Cliffs of Dover! I think this will run it whadya reckon?! I can't wait! i7 950 @ 4.6Ghz 6GB Ram Quad Crossfire ATI 5870 @ 1000/1300 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...930.JPG?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...639.JPG?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...627.JPG?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...651.JPG?psid=1 |
Nice, but veer iz ze joystick! ;)
|
x52 pro and saitek pro rudder pedals still in the other room.
Just finished building a new workstation and rebuilt computer to take up less space in another room. Have baby coming so I had to clean up my stuff. Here's how it used to look when I had room to spread out! http://w7st5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...ut2.jpg?psid=1 |
Jesus.. I'm glad someone has alot of money to throw around at my obsession.. (sigh).
One day, one day.. (mumble, mumble..) lol! |
I don't think it will run it TBH
|
Lucky boy! :-P
|
Fancy swapping for a crate of beer?
|
Had to laugh at a comment someone made a while back concerning a similiar thread:
''Your trying to compensate for a small penis'' Still, nice man have fun with it. |

Take no notice Phat old boy - that's a fantastic array of technology! BRAVO!!:grin: Badger |
So much $ on your pc.
I would rather build a simpit or at least replace your X52 with a full tarmac aces setup. |

What's the name of your case (with the blue fans) phat? You might not have much play time if your baby arrives  Good luck and nice setup.
|
Jesus Phat - That thing is a brute!
...I don't want to worry you, but the reason I've been inactive for the last year is 100% baby related ;) Catch you in the Skies soon :D |
That's a very nice overclock for a socket 1366 processor. And a nice build.
However I'm not sure quad-crossfire 5870s is a good idea. Crossfire scaling for the 5800s (compared to the 5700s, the 6800s or the 6900s) isn't that great as I understand it. And with crossfire/SLI in general, the more cards you add the less improvement you get. The third 5870 will not be adding "much" over the first two, and I wonder whether the fourth 5870 is helping at all. Actually, I just decided to look up some benchmarks. The quad 5870 sometimes does offer a benefit over tri 5870, and sometimes does nothing. I would be kind of interested to see whether CoD can use the 4th GPU or not. |
Quite good, but can it run Pacman or will it need an upgrade again? :-P

with the 3 screens ( ? looks like 24'ers to me @ 1920 x 1200 ?), wouldnt it have been more simple to assign one gfx card for each screen and run the multiple monitor system that way with just 3 cards ? i am currently experimenting with trying to get a 3 screen setup to work myself using 2 gfx cards (1x 1920x1200 and 2x 1280x1024, basically a widescreen monitor in the middle with two 19' in landscape mode on either side). one gfx card is assigned for the large central monitor, the 2e gfx card rns the 2 smaller monitors. |
Holy cow! That´s A rig!
As my stick is not so small , I have this more humble set: Gigabyte X58A UD3R Intel i7 950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz @ 4.20GHZ Gigabyte GTX 580 GDDR5 1560MB 384 bits OC (870/1740/2109) Single - Forceware 266.58 G.Skill RipJaws DDR3 1600 6GB 3x2GB 9-9-9-24 SSD G.Skill Phoenix Pro 60GB WDC Raptor WD360GD-00FNA0 WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A Corsair TX850W Samsung BX2250 21,5" Win 7 64 bits Ultimate and this is my pit http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/6881/pitp.jpg |
hehe, you even put the picture of the picture on your pc,
|
Veeery nice setup! Also, congratulations over your impeding fatherhood, Phat. :)

Ok let's organise official Il-2: Cliffs of Dover overnight parties at Phat's home once the game is out
|
It's a monster, I think I its very noisy
|
LOL @ uebernerd .... (ok, indeed, it's just jealousy that's speaking)...
Simple question : How much ? |
A pic of the chair pl0x! No chair no e-peen.
|
Nice setup - but question for you...How did you get IL2 to span 3 monitors? I have a very similar setup, i920 o/c'd to 3.8G or so, with 12G RAM and dual 450 in SLI mode, as well as 3 25" HD monitors that I can use. I only get IL2 to play on one monitor atm, though. I would very much like to know how you get IL2 to span across 3 monitors.
thanks! |
I'd pop round his house and nick it, only it looks like I'd require some sort of forklift truck.
I definitely think I'd sit straddling the beast though, letting all those fans work their wonders upon my nether regions. If they're intakes, as I imagine they are, then that would perhaps offset the sperm count loss derived from sitting at a desk playing video games all evening, roasting one's bollocks. MY God! I think I've just had a business idea |
hi FS phat
a question how is the watt usage compared from a more normal pc? percentage ? just to know. thanks in advance what are the 3 things with numbers in up right? temperature test? BTW i like it with the case and teh lights |
And he doesn't seem to care for the power bill anyway.
|
Did you ever think of ripping of the plastic bezels of your monitors?
You may end up like: Samsung MD230X3 For example: If you buy a 3x Asus VH242H and rip of the bezel , you will end up with 0.5 cm bezel per monitor: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...ezels#t2009745 Thats more then half the price of the samsung MD230x3 |

The numbers on the displays are all fan speeds, they are linked to a temp sensor as well and automatically adjust fan speed with rise in temp. Quote:

Phat, I think it's safe to say that you are undeniably obsessed!!
BRAVO!!! A great rig and certainly an inspiration to many!! Badger |
Quick 3min video of IL2 in Eyefinity

IL2 1946 Eyefinity Battle of Britain HUGE
Ok here is a new IL2 Movie. This one filmed live with Sans IL2 FOV Changer set to 140 degrees FOV. This is how NOT to fight in IL2 in a Battle of Britain scenario! Mind you I was massively out numbered. Mission created with UberDemons UberQuick IL2 Mission Generator based on the HUGE Battle of Britain setting but turned up to insane plane numbers.. 20 x Mk.Vc4 1941 Spitfires 12 x Mk.1 1938 Hurricanes VS 28 x Bf-109 E-4 1940 18 x Bf-109 E-4/B 1940 28 x Ju-87 B-2 1941 28 x He111 H-2 1941 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTFTjRXqf8U |
The ultimate gaming rig has had another upgrade while I wait for COD to get sorted!
Installed an Aquaero 5 XT controller with 6 slave controllers and a bunch of sensors. Have to say this was the most fun I have had playing with water cooling!! I have setup "target temp" controls to adjust the various fans based on each loops water temp. Also for the internal air temp, and Fan Amp temps. Running up on the bench to work out the configuration. I have the RGB led installed replacing the Power led so I get another quick visual clue to whats going on. Green for below operating temp, blue for normal temp and red for overheating. http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...114.JPG?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...120.JPG?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...160.jpg?psid=1 Remounting the waterblock with METAL screws and insulators to tighten up the mount. The included plastic screws felt too flimsy and left the block a little floppy. http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...197.jpg?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...198.jpg?psid=1 Tidying up the cables. http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...162.jpg?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...165.jpg?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...171.jpg?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...186.jpg?psid=1 The Aquaero loop temp sensors and CPU sensor installation. http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...124.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...148.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...149.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...189.jpg?psid=1 Installed the PA2s with an old Ram fan to cool PA2 heatsinks. Works remarkably well dropping Poweramp temps by 20c! Of course controlled by a PA2, to ramp up with a target temp 70c with a virtual sensor i set up for the PA2 Fan Amp temps http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...216.jpg?psid=1 http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...214.jpg?psid=1 |
All Assembled

A couple of the fans generate a dirty RPM signal below 6v but it doesnt effect the operation as the fans are voltage controlled anyway. http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...tus.jpg?psid=1 Settings screens http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...ors.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...ler.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...ans.jpg?psid=1 Aquaero screenshots http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...508.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...531.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...548.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...630.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...618.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...647.jpg?psid=1 I did some reconfiguring today. Ive loaded the 4 D5 pumps onto the controllers and they work a treat! I have the following config now: A5 Ch1 PA2 Fans Ch2 D5-1 GPU Loop Ch3 Exhaust Fans Ch4 D5-2 GPU Loop PA2's Ch5 CPU Rad1 Fans Ch6 CPU Rad2 Fans Ch7 GPU Rad1 Fans Ch8 GPU Rad2 Fans Ch9 D5-1 CPU Loop Ch10 D5-2 CPU Loop Flowmeter 1 CPU Loop Flowmeter 8 GPU Loop Temp Sensors T15 Ambient Air Temp T13 Rad Air In Temp T7 Internal Air Temp T14 Rad Air Out Temp T1 CPU Water in T2 CPU Water out T3 CPU Water Res out T4 GPU Water in T5 GPU Water out T6 GPU Water Res out T8 CPU Temp T16 GPU Temp Here's a 15min Furmark run with 15min cooldown. What an amazing piece of technology! Reallllly quiet for normal computing and light gaming, but an absolute powerhouse when required. All seamlessly controlled. http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...st1.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...off.jpg?psid=1 http://w7sp5a.blu.livefilestore.com/...657.jpg?psid=1 |

Also I do have this same effect in COD but not 1946 not sure why though. |
FS~Phat
You must have inherited a pile of money, won the lottery or something. I never saw so many "man toys" in that small amount of space. All those fluid coolant tubes make me cringe. Electronics at the complex level of computers are so darn sensitive to miniscule amounts of conductive fluids. It is cool to see there are some "real" dedicated people like yourself to our genre of game. I suspect you are a hardware guru of sorts, putting that together and all. I don't think most of us would know where to start... much less finish with such an impressive system. Kudos... to you on such an achievement |
You need your personal nuclear plant to run this beast :D
