Absolutly fantastic!! Can`t wait to fly this game by my self. Have preordered it and I hope it`s "playable" :-P

Tempest123 02-24-2011 02:14 PM

Ok, those where the screen shots I was waiting for, looks very very good, love canopy opening on the 109, stuka shot is fantastic and the defiant is great. The loadout options for the spitfire are staggering, I think this is the first time since SoW/Codo announcement that the product exceeds my expectations with respect to detail, so a definite buy for me.

HFC_Dolphin 02-24-2011 02:46 PM

Fantastic!

JG52Uther 02-24-2011 02:52 PM

What cockpit is this,it ain't a Blenheim!

Fiat Br.20

Royraiden 02-24-2011 03:03 PM

Thanks for posting all the pics in one thread. Some of them where hidden or something.

JG52Uther 02-24-2011 03:18 PM

Yes great pics! Just a bit weird that people have to hunt all over the net for CoD info, rather than getting it here or at the publishers site, but thats part of the fun I guess...

Il2Pongo 02-24-2011 03:21 PM

cant wait to see to what effect they have weathered the 109, screen shots of them all ways seem pristine, like a Libyan Mirage F1

kestrel79 02-24-2011 03:49 PM

Wow great shots!

What plane is the british twin engine 3rd last screenshot? It has a really tall glass canopy...I don't know if we have seen screenshots of that before? Or is it a Blenheim mk1?

IFnXI 02-24-2011 03:54 PM

Avro Anson trainer/communication.

Fritz X 02-24-2011 04:12 PM

That's some awesome screenshots indeed.

Just wondering myself what they're going to do with the Bf-109, right now it looks like it's made of plastic...

JG52Krupi 02-24-2011 04:38 PM

What the hell is that item in the bottom left hand corner of the screens?

Some sort of scrolling/setting bar... wonder what it does!

EDIT:

Its the engine power i think, there are two on the two engine aircraft shots!!

Actually not on all the shots

Well then, suggest something and they might do it just before release.
I don't see it though, it's just a shiny polished 109.

Looks like plastic, too! ;)

it´s the light and the paint. I think Oleg nailed it!

Tempest123 02-24-2011 06:01 PM

I got to see up that very 109 up close when it was getting a new radiator installed that was shipped from duxford, gorgeous plane, much smaller in person than I imagined it. it was next to spit and was slightly smaller, very agressive aircraft. I'd have to say Oleg did a fine job of getting realistic lighting instead of a "computer game" sepia tone or something ala birds of prey.

ckolonko 02-24-2011 06:12 PM

Looks great and I cant wait! I'll be spending most of my time loading ammo into the guns of my Hurricane!!!!!

Letum 02-24-2011 06:13 PM

Any changes made there will change *all* the colours and you don't want to do that because the aircraft, sky and other colours are fine.

Boandlgramer 02-24-2011 06:32 PM

The second shot is too dark IMO
Oleg got it right.

JG53Frankyboy 02-24-2011 06:43 PM

the second shot is more early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is staying low.
at a bright sommer day, at 12°° , the first shot is not too bad i think...

anyway, if the landscpape would have the same resolution as the planes...i dont think our PC would give much FPS, if at all.

Wow.

I didn't know there's so little sun in England.
Even without clouds and close to noon (look at the short shadows) you only have the lighting from a dull overcast. That's sad.

Why should you not be able to? If all fails, tune down your monitor. Done.

So why all the fuss? If you still think BoP has realistic lighting, desaturate your monitor and graphics settings and have fun. Problem solved.

No, the second screenshot not from game. It is bad color correction in Photoshop from one of visitors of a forum

Нет, второй скриншот не из игры. Это плохая цветокоррекция в Фотошопе от одного из посетителей форума.

JG53Frankyboy 02-24-2011 07:19 PM

i know the second was "photoshoped", my writing is not clear in that , true! Sorry :)

Hecke 02-24-2011 07:20 PM

BlackSix, you made the review, right?

In one of the screens one could see that you had Land detail on High. Is there something above high? I just wonder if we can get rid of the blurry ground textures by setting something higher?

furbs 02-24-2011 07:22 PM

the second shot is "more" England than the first...none are perfect though....because none can be.

nah it isn't, that's full sun at midday in summer. first shot is more accurate for those conditions, although yes, the 2nd shot is more typical. just not for the conditions apparent in shot.

All screenshots are made here on these options (except installation anti-aliasing=2). To improve parameter "Land Detail" it is impossible more

On my computer - yes. Probably, in the final version and on the maximum options it will be better.

It's a documented fact that the sun did not come out during WWII. Therefore, it is entirely unrealistic to have a shot where the conditions are bright and sunny. :-P

There's a setting for 'Land Shading' which is set on low - may help things a bit.

Yes, could be. Hopefully it is

BlackSix, could you maybe test this? Would be great. But don't do it if you have better things to try out.

Koyan 02-24-2011 07:58 PM

My 2 cents:

The second shot (photoshopped one) indeed looks like a shaded world under a clear blue sky. Wonder how that would look when cloud shadows come into play?
Everything is oke except the greens and if you ask me, it's over-saturation. When modders change the green a little it's resolved.

furbs 02-24-2011 08:00 PM

Blacksix...thanks for the preview.

Can i ask a question?

What did you think of the sound, smoke and fire affects?

And your overall rating for COD on the version you tried?

cheers.

Work on a sound isn't finished yet. Excuse, but I will not make comments.
The smoke and fire look perfectly, it is much better than in lL-2 ;)
The general estimation - the project has turned out excellent

... so I will post the 1280 sized versions of the images (where I managed to find them), plus some others from that were linked/hidden from the site as was mentioned in the first post.

Zorin 02-24-2011 10:28 PM

It is great to be able to actually read the manufacturers plate, these BF109s were build by the Erla Maschienenwerk - Leipzig, yet the trees in the river and mismatching ground texture plates and the odd coloring of the forrest ground is something I belived we had left behind after the Slovakia map set the bar for IL-2. Bit of a pitty.

Novotny 02-24-2011 10:53 PM

Those 109 shots are giving me the... ack, damnit. Sex wee all over the shop. Nurse, quick - the towels!

These high res' 'renders' were posted by Luthier at Sukoi (then simHQ). I don't know if they are from the game, it seems like it is questionable if they are (the translation of his comment can be taken two ways):

that is only because we are now in the last few weeks before release, so the various people who very recently have been given pre release access (or were promotional material) now start to publicize it, and it is popping up all over the place

but as you noticed from last weeks event, any leaked in-game video clips from the pre-gold version get jumped on pretty quick by 1C to have it removed (so people dont get bad impressions from a non finished product by mistake)

up till this last phase of production, 90% of all BoB/SoW info was provided here in the last few years :)

good find, it looks pretty much spot on !! (for the recently harvested field)

i hate to say it, but the bright greens in the foliage and trees just looks to fluro to me in some of the other screenshots posted (not the one under discussion here with the fields). lush brigh green is possible in the south of england, but not the fluro brightness we still have in some of those other ( non final ?) screenshots. the other colors look fine to me, it just the greens used for england that are to strong. then again, if the greens in some of the other screenshots taken by the same person look fine, maybe it is a lighting effect under certain angles or conditions that makes it appear to strong in some other screenshots.

note: a few months ago we already had a 20 pg thread on this issue, no need to get sidetracked again :)

t4trouble 02-25-2011 11:33 AM

The colours look fine to me,you see in top picture at the tail end of the a/c
theirs a field with a shadow of a cloud which make's the green look alot deeper. The bottom pic is way to dark, you can see this effect inside your own home even, look at your walls where sun light comes in if you have a wall in shadow
the paint on the walls will look like two different shade's.The picture does not
show overcast if it was the bottom picture would be the one i would like.
Clear skies brighter colours, overcast deeper colours

That's how I feel though many are saying Britain has tropical green terrain in broad daylight so I guess we're mistaken.

+1  If the game looks like perpetual, unnaturally bright sunrise conditions all the time I will have to get working on a colour profile in my GPU settings.

Unnecessary nitpick question #84172: Are the Defiant's guns pointing forward into the propeller arc in that second-last screen on the first page? Could they physically do that, i.e. was the interrupter due to being unable to traverse the guns into that position or was it simply a lock on the guns firing that didn't affect traversal?

Graphics look low resolution and shoddy - even the calender ones. I can cook up something that looks far far better in design garage in 15mins on my home pc...

Haha, yeah, looks like you might be right. That'll teach me to look at these little details without my glasses on.

Unfortuently most image hosting websites dont let you upload a 1920x1200 image because of the size.
Raytracing is ftw

You could downscale it though so we could look at your masterpiece. Unless of course you are talking nonsense which I suspect you are.

About the defiant interrupter gear..there is an interesting anecdote earlier in the thread if I remember correctly, and useful information on the plane:

Thanks major setback! :) There's another crap-plane I wouldn't mind flying sometime.

major_setback 03-02-2011 11:03 PM

Yes, it would be a great one to fly.

On the larger version of the screenshots (which can be found on the original site, or in the link in my signature),
you can see that the guns are pointing to the side:
