Tomorrows Update

What are the chances of getting a detailed video of a spit or 109 landing/taking off in tomorrows update?

Please

P.S. Almost forgot to ask for beta access as well  ;)

Hecke 02-24-2011 08:10 AM

I more hope we finally get the dev vids made weeks ago.

JG52Uther 02-24-2011 08:19 AM

Well for the first time I have my pessimist hat on. last weeks update consisted of some screenshots and nothing else.
Since the leak, everything has gone very quiet...

Tree_UK 02-24-2011 08:50 AM

No video update until after they have gone gold is what they said.

JG52Krupi 02-24-2011 09:41 AM

Damit where is the "throwing your toys out the pram" smiley

Why do they capture videos before they go gold then?

A guy in SimHQ forum found this :

Going gold does not mean release date, you will be able to video before the game is released.

BigPickle 02-24-2011 03:42 PM

what is going gold exactly?
I wonder if those will be our screens this week?

Novotny 02-24-2011 03:47 PM

Going gold means having finalised the release version.

BigPickle 02-24-2011 03:51 PM

Which might well be the day before release (?).

Not really game gold go a 2/3 weeks before they hit retail.

Going Gold means production has started.

going gold means the final "master' version of the to be released product has been compiled, and has been sent to the manufacturing plant that will press the cd/dvd's. the term is used to differentiate in time the point up to which further fixes and changes are possible, and when the product has been finalized (but not manufactured or shipped yet)

Quote:

"Gone gold" means that the gold "master" CD has been delivered to manufacturing (the CD may or may not actually be gold. The term derived from the fact that CD-R media used to be gold colored. "Gone green", "Gone blue", or "Gone silver" just doesn't have the same feel as "Gone gold"). This is the CD from which all shipping CDs are pressed (shipping CDs are pressed, not burned like the master CD). Depending on the manufacturing run, a game that has "gone gold" may ship to stores in as little as a few days or as late as a few months.

You may also see "RTM", an acronym for "Released To Manufacturing". It means the same thing as "gone gold". "Gone gold" is usually used for games, while "RTM" is usually used for applications. For web sites, you may see "RTW", an acronym for "Released To the Web", as a similar statement to "RTM" or "Gone Gold"

And if Im not mistaken the master disks at one point were "gold" in color

Actually I think that's a myth. Not 100% on that ... at one point I was pretty close with some game devs and I asked jokingly about the gold discs. I was told that they were very unremarkable CD's (at the time) with the game title written on in black pen just like the rest of us normally do. It gets sent to Q&A and then off to the production house where they churn them out by the thousands with all of the fancy stickers and logos and such :)

No, thats Platinum and is a sales number although I dont think its used much anymore.
Like said going gold is when they finalize the release version of the game which is then sent to be written on the disks for mass distribution. Often the gold version of the game is finalised a mon th or so before official release in order for them to write, box and ships all the copies to retailers. Now though often though there are 0 day patches and access to betas so its become more or less irrelevant.

Why we havent seen more game content/videos is absurd.

Well, great marketing strategie and for sure the best way to launch a product. No demo, no videos, only some boring "once a week screenshots" and UBISOFT as publisher.

Very confidence inspiring when you are sick as pigshit !

easy tiger.

im quite certain its all downhill from here.

after such a wait, whats even a few more months?

remember, its just a game / sim, we're not playing for sheepstations here.

There is consumer life after the "pre-order" you threatening not to buy it or creating a "not to buy list" isn't going to get you what you want. There will be PLENTY of time to "see the pig" as you put it...after release. I would advise against pre-ordering any software personally, but I took the plunge for this because I wanted the collectors edition. IL-2 series has been on my HD since release and I still enjoy it...that's confidence building right there.

If you are unsatisfied with the photo's...that's your problem, and as far as a demo....when was the last time a playable demo was released for a high fidelity combat sim?
