Lookin fantastic!!!! Thanks for the update!
|
wow, it's looking stunning. You can really see the progress. Colours n contrast make image much more pleasing.
|
Love the lighting. Nice corn too. Thanks for the update.
|
S-e-e-e-e-exy.
|
Manned vehicles! Thank you sir!:)
|
fantastic stuff!
|
WOAW, colors are getting better and better! the overall look of the imagen its fantastic!!
|
nice ground targets
|
tnanks!
|
Nice pictures.
|
Thank you Oleg & team!!
|
Wow best screenshots we have seen yet! Looks like there is some AA/AF used on them as well, they look less jaggy. And there are people in those vehicles! Yes!
The lighting on those planes looks great as well. |
Way to go people, lovely lighting.
Kudos to the team. Hunger |
Fantastic screenshots Oleg,Thank you,One question though is the release still set for 25 of march?
|
Very nice, lovely to see the night and day scheme on the spitfires: I was thinking you had missed this out.
Out of interest, will it be possible for the 'pop' feature of objects to be sorted out? if we look at shot 4, one can clearly see trees which look quite crisp against terrain which is blurred. The transition doesn't look seamless, but I'm sure this can be fixed. (I bet you knew that already, didn't you?! :D) Also, in one of those shots, are the spits flaps partially down? I though they only had two positions....? |
Best screens so far imo!
|
Thanks Oleg, are you planning to do any promotion visits to airshows? Flying Ledgends at Duxford would be great for selling tons of the game.
|
Nice! Thanks for the screens, much appreciated!
|
Nice
|
Absolutely beautiful... I'm afraid to know what kind of computer these pics were taken on (must be high end)
muzzle flashes are looking great too! |
Nice update, thanks.
|
Tks for the pic, i m wonder if the game is delayed ? ? Its for the weather, hope so
|
Thanks Oleg, i hope we can see one airwar video next week.
|
:) Excellent progress, stunning screen shots- good update. Thank you Oleg and team!
|
Flaps on a slider....Where's RayBan Jockey when you neem him? Looking at the 4th picture I said, Frag me! New desktop. It's comining together nicely and I think that the uber computer I have in the pipeline is going to be usefull afterall.
|
Thank you!!! Naaaaaissss photos!!
|
Slightly OT: Have read elsewhere game release has been delayed until April...true??
|
Great pictures.Thanks!!!!!
|
ground attack screenshot is AWESOME
|
The sensation of altitude from these pics is dizzying. I feel like I'm going to fall off my chair!
Bravo! |
You, sirs, are artists.
Best screens yet for colour and lighting. For a tiny, tiny critique I prefer the darker RoF style trees at a distance but everything else is just perfect. The gaggle of 109s shot is just awesome. Thankyou! |
I think i'm going to be seasick!
|
The last screenshot in Oleg's first post, was it taken on a new random map? The forrest doesn't allign with ground textures at all and there are a number of village textures with no houses. Looks pretty odd to me.
|
Are you thinking of something possibly procedurally generated, Zorin?
|
Just a bit of a question: how visible will straight-balls be when live in the air (as in "not paused")? I'm just curious, can you see much at all or the speed will keep you from seeing them?
|
Hah, when this game hits shelves that date is gonna be the most epic date since the invention of PC. For me. And many of you, I know.
|
Very nice. :)
|
The last two pictures are just gorgeous. And the sense of scale is dizzying in the fourth shot. Number 7, with only the Bf-109 - I could really see all the hard work the team has put into materials. There's a slight glossiness, but it's uneven, giving it a very realistic look.
|
Look at the vehicles
I see there are guys in the vehicles now, too. It's all looking excellent. Looking good Mr. M. Can't wait till my box arrives.
Could you have a word to Ubi about distributing hard copies to the southern hemisphere and South America, by the way? Lots of guys want to buy that rather than the digital download (about which there is also not much info). |
nice!
waiting for a entire gameplay video |
Amazing screenies, but one thing that stood out:
The guys in the vehicle being attacked look rather stiff and unconcerned. It would be really cool if they were to cower in fear. Yes, a very minor point, but for movie makers it would make a really big difference. :-) But beautiful work Oleg. COD will be a big time winner. |
People in the trucks, manning the guns, etc.
It just makes more sense than robotic trucks driving themselves down the road. I guess they will just drop over dead when the trucks and guns are hit, but that is still better than robotic vehicles and guns. The pics look great Thanks |

Hmm. Interesting.
|
Thanks Oleg and team. No complaints here.
|
The last two pictures are a real gift for me ! thanks a lot
great shot |
Oleg or Luthier,
Can you please tell us something about gauge output? Questions: So now that we are close to release. Official announcement is behind us etc. Can you please spill the beans on gauge output? How wil it work in Cliffs of dover? Official drag and drop style like flight sim x or menu option to have instruments/gauges displayed on your 2nd monitor? Or will it be do it yourself style again like IL2? And if its do it yourself style, will online use be supported? |
I like the fact that there are now realistically thin streams. The clusters of random farmhouses are new (I believe), also nice to see.
I get an itchy trigger finger when I look at the Spit bracketing the 'schmitt. It just keeps getting better and better... |
Is it true that i still see repetitive tiles?
No way around it then? |

|
simply amazing stuff!!
|
If you flip real quick through those massive ten screenshots it's almost like a movie.
|
The new screenshots are breathtaking, BUT!
1: Oleg, you're using the post 1941 font for the RAF planes' IDs! The font that was used in the BoB was a lot more square! It's available on simmerspaintshop. 2: 92 sqn did NOT have black and white undersides during the BoB only from December 1940, but those were Spit MKIIs with white spinners and white tailband. Please do your homework better, the importance of historical accuracy is paramount! :( |
I agree - although it is important to remember other developers would probably give the Spits Hispanos for "game balance". I believe Bird's or Prey made this decision...
|
Glad to see the game is finaly getting there.. Thanks for the update.
It's going to be a long month! :) |
When might this go gold? (Want to mark it into my calendar so I can look forward to being drowned.)
|
Thank you for the update, the game really looks stunning. And if it 'flies' as good as it looks... :)
|
Best shots so far Oleg!
Looking like intense fighting. Are they from MP sessions? 5th shot of the first series, the second Spid deploys full flaps! ... the first on the 1O9 dont. :) |
Quote:
Fortunately, unlike Il2, the repetition is very hard to see, even more so with the trees and rivers overlaid on the tiles. I had to visually search for distinctive landmarks (lighter colored fields) before the repetition became apparent, and even then I can't see where one tile ends and the next begins. |
Update
Thank you, thank you ..............THANK YOUUUUUUU ,SIR.
For this great nice Friday Update. And TEAM too. Very good pictures........ I´m so rrrrrrrrooooaaarrrrrrrr...:) on this Simulator. Every Friday is how christmas....:) sorry for my English.......but a nice weekend for everybody Towarisch |
Excellent update as always
|
@ Towarisch:
don't worry for your english, you are very clear, "be sure"! I only have to add: +1 :) |
Thank you for another great update.
What will the soldiers in the vehicles do when under attack? Will they do more than run a few feet and drop to the ground or will they try and fight? |
great shots,thank you!!!
|
Let's hope Google Language Tools got this one right!
Очень впечатляющие фотографии Олег! Поздравляем Вас и Вашу команду! |
Not bad, not bad, but again, why to use wide angle for general views like here...
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/attachm...4&d=1298045372 ... that deforms the perspectives and transforms aircrafts like flying bananas. When I was working as a editor, if I get such a deformed pic, the pic would go immediately to the dustbin. PLEASE, for the standard external view, which will be available in the game, choose a standard focale (43mm if possible), or let it be choosable by the user in the game settings or in the conf.ini. |
Chris, you are right, but do you believe this is a good idea to give Oleg some lessons of photography??
|
Colors are getting better and better, IMO they look perfect now. But as a former IL2 skinner, I'm really missing some weathering. There will be more, right? Especially that 109 looks way too polished. Or is there going to be a dynamic aircraft weathering system?
|
Quote:
The devs like new, shiny AC. |
Quote:
no weathering in the skin required anymore! |
"IMO they look perfect now."
They're better, but still not like that (1) ... http://i55.tinypic.com/1z5jg4p.jpg ... but really better, yes. (1) perhaps the typical English green will be seen under a grey sky ? |
"Especially that 109 looks way too polished."
Many of these aircrafts were almost factory new or rather well maintained. |
Drivers in vehicles....hip hip..hooray and Fandabbydozy !!
You old devil Oleg...keeping us guessing about people in vehicles ! As already mentioned...can you....
Cheers and have a good weekend all of you. Simon |

When it's overcast and/or the sun is setting, the textures, etc will all look more and more "real" as the color fades - and... much easier for the computer to make it look "real". Take note that thebest screenshots in any sim are typically dawn or dusk. Development shots look great. What a great platform to build on... |
For instance...
http://i56.tinypic.com/2eyi98x.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/119cbbk.jpg ... but on the other hand, even the taxi of the boss can be quite dirty ! http://i53.tinypic.com/15flkz4.jpg |
"Clouds make a tremendous difference in color perception."
Yes, you're right, and this is precisely why I really would like to have in the game a high overcast (1) like this : http://i53.tinypic.com/fawwg6.jpg (1) no need, at once, for it to be dynamic. |
"The developers are showing us the most difficult sections of the day to model color-wise... bright sunlight."
And that's why photographers avoid like the plague to take pictures at 1200, what is for some strange reason the favorite hour for screen-shooters  |
Quote:
|
"I'm not quire sure what you mean - are you saying that the green in the image you posted is perfect, and that's what the colour in CoD should look like?"
It's hard to describe, after all a perception is by essence personal, but I would say, remembering to good old time of slides, a little bit less Velvia and a little more Sensia. |
Weatherring isnt an issue, since we have a slider in game for that.
If anything, judging from the shots, the cooler under the wing (109) seem too thick. But Im not sure here. |

Can't take it anymore, need this game NOW!
I'm gonna lock myself up in my room, once i have it and lose 30% of my body weight because i didn't have time to eat while i was playing this game... Perhaps im exaggerating a bit, just a bit though. Oleg, Luthier and team, you guys are the very best! |
"I think if you have to start saying 'a little bit less Velvia', perhaps you're being too picky."
Perhaps. A gamma slider within the game setup would definetely end this debate. I remember having this option in Quake back in 1999. |
Looking good! Thanks!
|
Oleg or Luthier
Best dogfight screenshot so far! Different gaming sites have changed their release dates for IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. Instead of March 22 or 25 it's now spring, one person said his prepaid receipt said available in August. Has the release date change? |
Quote:
Indeed; it's an interesting point. Sometimes you want a WWII experience to look like a *film* of the 1940s and not *the* 1940s. After all, none us were actually flying Spitfires back then so the slightly undersaturated film stock of "The Battle of Britain" is visually the most familiar era reference a lot of us have :) But I'm happy with "reality" too! Cheers, Spinner |
AUGUST!!!!! just release the game and patch it later or is it Ubi$oft dropping the ball on its one? Well guess i'll keep playing DCS: A-10c beta!
Edit:NIK14 LOL the balls are not historical accurate!!lol |
Everyone ask if the release date has changed and maybe we'll find out what's up ;)
|
Quote:
Gamma slider seems like an obvious thing... Hope COD has one in time... |
Quote:
And that you must set the date in the QMB and have different fonts dynamically available based on those dates? Do you think about what you say? |

|
Quote:
The system the team is using to apply decals is more efficient performance wise anyway. ;) |
Quote:
Great pictures again by the way. Can't wait! |
Good point Kraken! :D
|
I like the pictures, they are inspiring.
Bravo Luthier and Oleg. |
Very nice stuff. I really think that 109 should be behind those Spits though and not the other way around ;)
|
Quote:
1: REPLACE the RAF font by a correct one. 2: Get rid of the black and white underside 92 sqn skin (NOT BoB era stuff) and replace it with a correct one. Is that too much to ask? Seriously I've been playing BoB2 for ages and it had all the skins accurately modeled. We're talking about a 10 year old game there, or even more. Oleg has put so much time into this sim, why ruin it with something that would be so easy to fix? |
