Hurricanes

Hi Guys
Just started to do some 'Hurries' used Checkmysix template as a guide and have decided to do some Soviet aircraft as we don't have any Russian aircraft in CLOD. I know Russia's not the flavour of the month at the moment but anyway let's hope things change as history has a habit of repeating. Lets move on. Hurricane MkII 767 IAP Maj LP Yuriev crashed Pod Uzhemye 7th Apr 1942 saw this and thought it would match up with some of the EF Ju-88's. Anyway guys have fun. Matthew :-P |

Here's his Mate8!
Must of had a great artist with them. Hurricane MkII 767 IAP Since the photo's are from the same unit they show the artwork on possibly both side's! I have added the artwork on both tail fin's. I haven't added the star on the top wing as both photo's don't seem to show it. It would of looked better from a modelling perspective! Anyway if someone knows better and can prove that they indeed did have the star on the upper wing I'll be delighted to add it. But at this point I'll try to keep it as historically as possible. Added the strip as the artwork has depicted it. There maybe a tiny star on the front of the nose. It is impossible to add this on the current 3D template so I did a 1 pixel line to represent it on the nose. Matthew |
Hi Matt
NICE Hurricanes. You made the right choice. I like to see more Hurricanes and hopefully Ju 87B Stukas too. Fantastic work;) |

Thanks for the comments I'll work on some Stuka's next. I have added too many skins to upload here so please go to http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Hurricane/USSR.html and I did a lot of research on RAF 151 Wing 81Sqn and 134 Sqn and have done 22 skins using the correct codes etc. http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Hurricane...F-151Wing.html Hope you like them. Will add more over the next few days. Matthew :) |

HI Guys
I was asked the other day to do a graphic image of this aircraft's Joker emblem. I believe the color's are possibly more accurate and so have done a skin for the game with the 1941 color scheme at that time. |
Quote:
I did a version of this skin a long while ago, for TF3 I think. The colours on my skin look all wrong in the present modded game, so I might update it soon, as I'm re-doing a few Hurricanes anyway. Here it is with photos and a colour profile from an Osprey book, I believe. Link:http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=36576 Cheers, Setback. |

Hi Mate8
Yeep I've been studying 3D max, still a long way to go, but I haven't done too many skins as I've also been recovering from an operation. I'll still be slow in skinning as I really want to get into the game modelling side to help develop new aircraft it's so hard to do though. I did study the Joker photo a lot and decided that they where the best color interpolation I could come up with. Unless someone can do a colorized photo I'm sticking with the blue because he played in the sky not yellow. Matthew |
Hawker Hurricane MkIIb SAAF 40Sqn

Hi Guys
Here is Hawker Hurricane MkIIb SAAF 40Sqn flown by Jack Orpen HL734 with Gremlin Bobby Burst North Africa 1942-43 From the photo's it's hard to work out the underside camouflage so I settled on Sky blue and the background color of the gremlin I have done in red and blue again can't be 100% from the photos. Any additional information would be great. Some fantastic photo's from the pilots who flew these aircraft here: http://saafww2pilots.yolasite.com/jack-orpen.php Seem to be having problems uploading more than 3 files must be something wrong with there server! |

Hi Guys
Another: Hawker Hurricane MkI Trop SAAF 3Sqn B East Africa 1941 When you look at this rather dark photo you can see a No 5 on the tail. Most of the aircraft where 277-289 I don't know for sure what the code is but I believe it to be 275 as the 5 is on the tail could be 285 but the photo looks like a 7. Hate to make a guess like this since they are a historical representation. If anyone knows more please email me via my site!
