|
Hurrah
Well done Gentlemen ,I am sure there will be many smiling faces now we have a release date.Bird S!
|
So the March release date is true :) :)
|
What no German Campaign? That is not going to go well on the German market, but lets wait and see.
|
Top marks
|
25th according to the Ubisoft site: http://www.ubi.com/UK/Games/Info.aspx?pId=9329
|
Better two months than two weeks!
Looking forward. |
Awesome but I hope it won't use Ubisoft's annoying DRM. I don't want to be on the internet everytime while playing the game. I know it is early to speak but can you give us an official response for it will use Ubisoft DRM or not? Thanks.
|
Nothing new... Only that we now know for a fact that there will be no German or Italian campaign, German trainer or German collector's box edition.
Somehow I do believe that that is a stupid decision. The guy in the store won't know that there is eventually a German campaign when it is not written on the box. Let alone that I am sure that you would sell more if you offered a German collector's box. A good number of people are drawn to the "evil" side of WWII. Oh well... It is Ubisoft through and through... |
So the rumors were true - no Luftwaffe campaign eh?
Still, I can't wait! :D EDIT: Since creating a Luftwaffe campaign would most definitely involve creating a bomber campaign as well (most likely a formation training missions too), I would rather have a solid RAF campaign alone than rushed & unfinished game. If this was the decision Oleg, made I think it is a good one. Much better to include a proper campaign later on via patch or possibly add-on. If on the other hand we get to pay for LW campaign - this presents a slightly different approach than the RoF, but on the other hand a very similar one. ;) |

Omfg, this is so awesome.
Praise the lord wtf is going on this year, we're getting IL2, Duke Nukem Forever and Red Orchestra 2 !, I think hell just frose over and pigs started to fly! |
 Good news, but sad there isn't a German campaign. Can Oleg confirm that? It's sounds strange to me that there isn't a German campaign... And don't forget the Italians!

Campaigns
Im absolutely delighted to hear this. Can't wait, even if my PC can't run it I'll buy it.
EDITED: It's actually coming out! |
edit: nevermind.

Ilya, could you please hurt the PR guys? They seem to be begging for some decent hiding. |
Asked before I'm sure, sorry -
do we have any choice whom we buy the game from - 1C or Ubisoft? And if it's released on steam and we buy it there, who gets the money? |

I think its weak to see so many people whining about insignificant things, now when we're finally getting the game after years and years of waiting people find new things to complain about..
I can't wait be it without a German campaign at launch or not , i couldnt care less. About the name of the game itself and the tagline, its really irrelevant.. we all know its a simulator of the highest degree and a PC exclusive, just drop it already and enjoy the news will ya? |
zauii ... Everybody has different ideas how he wants to spend his time with the Sim. If there we´re no german campaign my main reason for playing flightsims would be gone so why should I bother with such a game? Just having it for the sake of having it would not give me a decent reason to actually play it ...
|
You'll never please everybody, if I was Oleg I'd make sure everybody has to tie their forum account to their activation and then force anybody who complained to fly around in Hello Kitty skins for a month or two ;)
|
Well Done Luthier (and Oleg)!
Luthier,
Many thanks for your huge contribution! We all appreciate your work. Cheers, Insuber |

It's entirely my fault. |
 Thanks for the answer about the campaign.
That trailer makes me smile:cool: |
Fantastic news guys, you've made my year.
Please do give the marketing guys a kick though. Forgetting the German campaign and suggesting the AI has flaws isn't great for sales. LOL |
Well, I have not the greatest trust in the innate intelligence of PR people. Kinda burnt by past experiences.
|
haven't I seen this trailer weeks ago already?
|
Quote:
Seriously, though, this is great. I am excited. I just hope that getting into another flight sim doesn't jeopardize my marriage. |
Please please please tell me that the sounds in the trailer are from in game? :)

Luthier, now it's official,
can you tell us which system the trailer was made on? |
At Last!!!! I would have waited two weeks before though!! ;)
WELL DONE OLEG AND TEAM!!!! SJ |
Yeeees ! Soon, you'll fear the 110 that you had not noticed in your 6 !

That's the very first official trailer I've seen on earth which was not made on a high end system to show the people the full glory of the upcoming product. |

Thanks Nike-it and luthier, great news...go get Oleg to join in on these festivities with us.
|
Not having a bunch of campaigns included is no problem it has a mission builder, and Wutz I bet you can count on one hand all the uberscmitts (originals not buchon) left in the world, how many dweebfires do you think there are hmm...?
|
Good.. now we wait for the activation surprise - the maker or breaker of the game :!:
|
Quote:
Not.. how can anyone be so lame to consider the DRM a gamebreaker.. |
Quote:
|
seeing that the Ju88 has both bombbaydoors open (to improve range, the forward one was most times used to carry an additional fueltank), i conat wait to see the armament option screen of CoD................
i hope that there will be a "maximum startweight" and that you have to balance the fuel (=range) with your bombload :) |
Luthier, Oleg wrote that you've got an ati crossfire, it works well in Cliffs of Dover??
|
Quote:
I thought that when the release date was announced we would also get some basic system specs. |
Congratulations to all members of the dev team, counting the days now! :)

Flyby out |
luthier,
Many thanks for clearing the campaign issue up. Amazes me that the game we are all waiting for is announced, and within minutes people are moaning about it, talk about impatiant and (possibly) ungratefull  |
Not even to mention the first complaints when they will own the game....
|
So a lot of scenes of the trailer are taken from the igromir presentation video.
|
Great News...
Did I hear some new engine sounds in the official trailer??? If so, I think they sounded pretty good.
Very Good News!!! |
Thanks 1c, OM Team, and luthier.
I hope you show us hardware requirements Thanks |
Quote:
I can relate. I'm just going to have mine done in time..... WEW! |
I wonder how much of the trailer's sound will be left in the final product ;) For the 110's sound I would sell my mother-in-law.
|
My birthday in March! FANTASTIC!!!

- This should go well with general review sites, who usually criticize most sims as too dry and not exciting enough. - A dedicated single player campaign system is there, instead of generic and repetetive furball action as an appendix to online gameplay. Thanks to Luthier for clearing up the German campaign situation; would have indeed been a major omission for obvious reasons. Congrats to the team and I'm looking forward to March! |
Nice! Finally!
From the texters point of view, some oil ready to catch flames, but I'm glad we're finally heading for an official date. Things alerting the professional texters eyes: Quote:

I'll take one of each....Standalone to play and Collectors Edition to immerse myself.
Hope they are both readily available. |

How can you promote a brand new sim with a months old video on a crappy system? Was there nobody around to make something decent on a high end system? Even IL2 Youtube clips from years ago look better than this. Amazing. |
Hi Oleg!!
And Now the questions are: 1.- System features 2.- Price Thx!!! |
Quote:
I guess and hope that we will see more videos the closer we get to the date. |
goodbye 4.10, hello cliffs of dover, last time this excited i had on a game i had just bought il2 grey box edition
|
So many years, just waiting, waiting... I still can't believe it. :)
|
Great news! I'll start saving up.. new rig and new exciting WWII sim for March! :) Now if we could just see the system specs recommendation as well. ;)
|

And besides, since when did the Sim community become graphic whores? There's just so much depth here when it comes to realism, that we dont know even where to begin.. |

nice :)
|
Thanks 1C. It's amazing that we are now so close to the release. I can only imagine the stress level there while trying to meet the final deadline.
Maybe we'll meet in the skies over London. Would be nice. It would give you a chance to flame me...... or any other of the forum posters here. Folks, this is just the beginning. I'm looking forward to where IL2:CoD takes us with developer and 3rd party updates. Congrats to everyone involved. May your work be rewarded. I also hope CoD and this new engine take you where you and the company want to go. |
Great news! I see that the first page announcement now mentions the German campaign.
This is a bit cheeky - but lets think of absent friends - Tree must be sick as a parrot today - wrong on 3 big issues: 1. DX11 - confirmed. 2. Ubisoft as publisher - confirmed. 3. Release date - March - confirmed......Spring 2012 my arse! ------ Feb 11th - decided to revisit this piece of ancient history in the interests of fair play, justice, and a nagging guilty conscience :) - or maybe it's just masochistic self-indulgence? Probably I'm just bored. No-one's probably going to read it anyway - bit like a tabloid issuing the retraction to their front-page headline on page 34 in very small print.... Anyway, hindsight (which, as we all know, is a 'wonderful thing') has revealed Tree not to have been as wrong as I made out. A re-evalution shows: 1. DX11 - Tree was right, though God knows how, when Ubi didn't even know? Lucky guess, esp?, or sleuth-like powers of deduction (or is it induction?). 2. Ubisoft as publisher - Wrong - debates about when they got involved not withstanding. 3. Release date - Wrong, though arguably only because the devs left out half the game :) [deliberate overstatement before anyone takes offense]. Arguably if DX11, dynamic weather and dynamic campaign had been included, we may not have seen the game to 2012. So there you have it. Tune in next week to see me whip myself with stinging nettles... |
Quote:
Yeah, but that was for "Storm of War".... NOT "Cliffs of Dover." :D |
Please Oleg or Luthier, could you clarify that "fight against renegade pilots" thing about the British campaign?
I´m sure it´s some kind of mistake, because doesn´t look like anything that Maddox games works before. I mean, you always look compromised with historical accuracy and the way it´s written is really strange... But what I really want to do is compliment Oleg , Luthier and all the staff for the years of hard work that finally are coming for the end. Years of good historical battles are coming for the community starting March 2011... |
WHOOOO HOOO cant wait OMG looks excellent

does sound strange, any history of such a thing in rl bob good news on release, can't wait |
