Plane Unlocks
 

Does anyone actually know all of the requirements for unlocking planes? Even on this forum there are irregularities.
The BF109 G-10 for example is supposedly 8 TB or D but I unlocked it in a Strike game.
And no-one seems to know how to get the 1000lb bombs in the P-51 (D-5 I think).
Can anyone help?
[and as a side-note can anyone confirm the the Heinkel He111 H-3 is 5 wins on Srike with the BF109 E-3?]

there will be a list of whats need to unlock all the stuff, and its pretty comprihensive i cant remember how i got my G10 but the P51-D is the hardest iirc you need to use it in strike but it reqiuers some "suicide" tactics use rockets and crash ect ect ..... the aces will put me right if im wrong

and im also pretty sure that thats the case to get the He 111 H3 ....... ive not got that one yet either lol

Yeah to unlock the bombs for the P51D (2 x 250lb bombs, there are no 1000lb bombs for the P51D) you need to destroy 50 ground targets on strike (reduced to 10 or so on PS3 with patch). As Scotty said most people crash into a bunker 5 or 6 times to destroy it. This takes forever on xbox though so I had some kind people prebomb each bunker with 2 x 2000lb bombs using B17s then some rockets or just one crash will destory it.

It makes me laugh how much the requirements went down with the patch. The Bf109G-10 is 40 TB/DM wins on xbox. Someone else said they unlocked it after a strike match so maybe it is all type of match included, but I would stick to doing DM/TB to be sure.

I've seen people with 1000lb bombs on the P-51 but with hindsight that could just be the P-47 but I'm sure it was the 51.
Anyway one win off the H-3 thanks to many people's generosity and a bit of skill. Then I will have all the planes! But 1 strike win in the 109 is still a looong way. :(

No worrie mate. It's only about 3 min. away.
There are plenty of guys out there that will help you win a strike in a 109. If you see me online just give me a nudge and I'll set up a 3. min. game and bring the B-17. (I bomb like shit, but I guess it will be just fine).

The list is right there man. 1000lb bombs are only useable by the B-17 and P-47D.

Sadly Pope you're wrong. Bezhumniy is 100% correct, the 51D does have 2x1000lbs- certainly on the PS3 anyway.

Pray tell in what way is that cutting? I just pointed out to Pope that Bez was correct in that certainly with regard to the 51D on PS3 it has the option (once unlocked) to equip it with 2x1000lbs bombs. Just as you can also equip it with rockets. As for using it, do as you please. As bombs are really only useful in strike to do damage it would seem sensible to use it but if carrying around 2000lbs in a dogfight is your bag them knock yourself out. Better to equip it with rockets when idiots use B17s in DFs, TBs and CTAs though as it's a great BnZ especially against such a big target.

I've also got 2 x 1000lb bombs as a weapons choice for my P51-D5 on the PS3. They're pretty awesome for CTA games but to be honest I normally use the little 153 for fun.

Sadly Pope you're wrong. was a little blunt and I viewed it as quite upfront and abrupt so to me it seemed a little harsh.

This is crazy. Ive been here since the demo launch and NOBODY has ever said anything about these 1000lb bombs for the P-51D. I have 1000/1000 on xbox and don't have them. How did you unlock them? 2x250lb bombs on the xbox is 50 targets destroyed. Sorry if I am wrong but this is totaly out of the blue. They were never on any unlock list here. Were they added with the PS3 patch? and why?

YES the p51 HAS 1000lbs bombs you have to destroy targets in strike to get them witch is a pain in the a**

i was playing on xbox with an trusted nubie who had 500 LBers for the "B" so the D ought to have at least that.

I did have the game pre-patch but never unlocked them until after so I couldn't say for definate that they were there prior. Maybe McQ could answer that as he was further on that me at that point. Certainly afterwards it was a case of 5 ground targets being kamikaze'd to unlock them.

Edit: Having just checked the lists here it does state 250lbs as loadout but they're definitely 1000lbs in the game!

Ok so on the patched PS3 game there are no 250lb bombs for the p51d? I'm thinking it must have been changed in the PS3 patch then. In fact I always did think those 250lb bombs looked too large on the D version. They are larger than the 500s on the fake P-51B. Can some one on xbox with the P-47 tell me if the 1000lb bombs on that look the same as the 250lbs bombs on the P-51D? Now i'm wondering whether the 250s are in fact 1000s and are just incorrectly named, I might have to do some testing.

My records tells me that I got the 1000lb for the D5 after killing 50 groundtargets in strike with the same plane. I don't think I ever did that, but the night the patch was released was like pre-christmas-eve. I'm almost sure it was that night I got the bombs for the D. It is as one of you guys have pointed out, in the "official" papares it says 2x250lb's, but I have corrected that in my own copies with ink. The D5 has a bombload of 2x1000lb in the game. (PS3). I think it is a little f-up from the devs side. It would have been a mission (allmost) impossible to kill 50 groundtargets in the D5 with the HVAR- rockets only. To get the rockets you had to kill 50 planes in online CTA games in the same bird...

The51B is another bag. To get 2x100lb load-out you had to win 10 online games in the 51B. To get the 2x500lb you had to win 15 online strike or cta in the 51B. (My rec's says I won 6, so I think I got that load-out too with the release of the patch).

Hope this made a few things a bit clearer.

I have completed my bomb tests on xbox. I will now share the results.
Match 1.
B-17 with 1000lb bombs. Destroyed 3 friendly bunkers. Each bunker took ten 1000lb bombs to destory.

Match 2.
P-51D with 250lb bombs. Destroyed 3 friendly bunkers. Each bunker took ten 250lb bombs to destroy.

Conclusion. The bombs on the P-51D are 1000lb bombs on xbox as well as PS3. Only the text saying 250lbs is wrong.

My apologies to Spitfire and bezshumniy, and thank you for helping me find out something new about the game. :)

Great to see that nearly a year and half down the line the game still throws up randomness!!! I'm guessing therefore that the PS patch sorted text rather than actual bombload.
As you put McQ the day the patch came out was like Christmas! I think we played one game and then in the next lobby discussed the avalanch of loadouts we had been given!! Pity one of them wasn't the bombs for the 190F!!! That only took about another 8 months!! (still owe you for that one Kav!).
I wonder if there are flight characteristic differences then between the PS and xBox 51's when loaded with the 250/1000lbs then?(appreciate that the patch 'fixed' some of the 51 flight issues on the PS)

All the effort to unlock the bombs for some aircraft never bothered me. I don't bomb but was happy to unlock the bomb for my mk ix. It make a nice ornament during strike games and I can pretend I am taking tickets by dropping it on the odd ship or bunker

lol I know what you mean. I didn't mention in my previous post that I did a third test strike match bombing my bunkers with a spitfire XVI with real 250lb bombs. I'd dropped 24 bombs on target when the guy on the other side in an Arado ruined the test with one bomb and destroyed the target for me lol. The guys that I played those 3 matches with must have been wondering what the hell I was doing, the guy who dared go up against my B-17 in a 109E must have been happy I helped him unlocking the He111-H3. :grin:

Does anyone know the unlocks (50 and 100kg bombs) for the LA-7's unlock criteria? The list at the start of the thread seems a bit old!? Surely it cant be that many post patch?

That's music to my ears! I would have settled for half of the originals! This will be done today then! Next I need to win X matches in CTA Dogfight(hardest?) and TEam battle! That would be the Plat for this game!!
