Storm of War, or Cliffs of Dover
Well, since i am at the official site of the people who are working on this, maybe i can get an answer..
People in the flight sim community think have uncovered the following as proof of a possible release date for the game. http://www.data4u.ch/packshot/PC/UBD...7764503-gr.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/daniel....1541291588.jpg Link Here for "Pre-Order" Are you able to confirm or deny these findings as being legitimate? |
Tree, when you take a new name, is it smart to right away continue on your old release date quest?
|
Tree?? lol What does a tree have to do with this?? ROFL
My name is Ryan Kirk, and i run the website Leading Edge 3d.. Here-->Leading Edge 3d Website I just wanted to make sure that what i was about to report was either TRUE or FALSE.. |
This isn't the "UBISOFT Cliffs of Dover" forum, so you're not likely to get any authoritative answer here.
|
See if Oleg will fess up on Friday when he answers questions on the weekly update.
|
I really don't want to bug, but it wouldn't hurt to ask .. lol
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: |

This looks credible, but we should no more on the IC Friday update, if not then, the SimHQ interview that should be up soon, should have more info. |
I hope that "internet connection required to activate game" doesn't mean it's required every time I play.
I don't have a reliable enough connection for that. |

It won't be a INTERNET connection only play game that's for sure. Look at the success UBI had with Silent Hunter 5 or 777's Rise of Flight. All of which now contain offline modes. Don't worry about it mate, you're fine. |
The box with 'internet connection needed...' text looks much too big.
It looks like the health warning on a pack of cigarettes. |

I don't see a problem with online (internet connection) activation as well as online (internet connection) uninstall for offline play and verification check each and every time for online play.
|
well. If its one time activation online im ok with it. If it is check everytime you launch, well then im over from "this one i need to have" to hmmm maby i get this one.....
I like playing games, sometimes with my work (when traveling) there is no internet to use, and this is where SH 5 died for me.....I be realy sad if the same thing happens with SOW.... One time activation....nooo prob..... Online for game launch......hmmmm might be a prob.... My 1½ cent.... LTbear |
People are taking computers everywhere with them these days. It's not certain they will have internet everywhere though.
|
IL-2 has nothing to do with SOW:BOB, except as an historical predecessor. It would be a big mistake to have IL-2 even mentioned on the Box, let alone prominently, as it will look on the shelf like just another Rip Off limited campaign for...IL-2! [Although I agree that the SOW part has always been a poor choice in name; most of us can't always immediately recall what the SOW stands for (Storm of War); so I wouldn't be surprised if a name change is in the works before release.]
My opinion is that this is a quality Prank. |
Unlikely, I'd say. Maybe I'm nitpicking too much, but that RAF roundel on the cover doesn't match the period. I remember seeing it as "Il-2: Battle for Britain" (Bitva za Britanyu) or something like that in the pictures taken during IgroMir, though.
And also, to be fairly honest, to my eyes the in-game Bf-109s and Spitfires, from the screenshoots, look better than those (by the way, isn't that Spit's spinner a bit too flat?). |

White Cliffs of Dover.
Hi all. I may appear new to this forum but I've been an avid IL-2 user since the very beginning, over 3 different systems and a multitude of GPUs and controllers.
It's really interesting to see Oleg and his team's work nearly ready for release. Having just purchased two GTX580s primarily for the DIRECTX-11 needed to properly run the sim (in theory) I have a significant investment already! It looks superb based on all the previously released images, information and video clips but I do find the probable name disappointing. 'Cliffs of Dover' sounds very wrong to an English person because any connection with that geographical feature and WWII is always 'WHITE' cliffs of Dover because of the most famous popular song of the war sung by Vera Lynn. The phrase 'White Cliffs of Dover' is iconic but 'Cliffs of Dover' sounds like a hardware store ... A minor problem though and I'll be first in the queue to order two collectors editions (presuming they actually will exist), one to use and one to archive. |
LOL
I thought the same with the other name Mr Bob Cod >>> http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18092 also now Mr Cliff of Dover Who cares lets get this thing on the hard drive :) |
