Help with graphics
Well,as DT said to not use the bug thread,I opened this one.
I was looking at those superb screenhots from 4.10 updates,but here at my new PC my graphics looks like s...! The water is awful (and the SS looked almost like the SoW one),and light effects look very cheap.What is the best configuration for graphics in IL2?Does this haves a relation to my computer resolution x max game resolution? BTW,I am running the game in 16 bit. |

Set all details to Excellent and enable Perfect mode. You MUST be running in 32bit to do that.
A 9600 GT (there is no 9600 GTX) will do alright in perfect mode. I had a 8600 GT at one point and it was decent enough to get the job done. Resolution will make it look nicer as well but these days my suggestion would be to set your resolution at whatever your LCDs native resolution is. For me that is 1280x1024 which requires a quick config.ini tweak. Using Effects=2 can cause undesireable effects like flickering smoke and shadows, huge FPS hit etc. With Effects=1 you are more than content. Sure if TD could take a look in the Effects=2 in the future ;) |
actually I wrote "fps killer" behind those settings.
I edited and marked them red for you. :) |
water=4 is only a fps killer if you override the Aniostropic filtering through your Gfx card.
if you leave it running through the game settings, ie TexMipFilter=3, and in Nvidia settings application controlled its fine. |
Tried to change Conf.ini,but appears that the game reset what I just changed.
Also,IDK why,when I use 32 bit in any resolution,the game goes to a "zoomed mode" in the left upper corner and the mouse gets totally wild! |

Right, if you work with the conf.ini - never touch ingame video options or the setup again, as this would reset the changes.

After some time ignoring IL2,I decided to try again to make it run in 32 colors without bugging out.
And after some "hack" (for a computer noob like me,its almost a hack) I finally tamed it. On the program compatibility options,I checked the Disable desktop composition and,OMG,it works! Now,I´m still trying to define the graphics at maximum settings. |
Sorry for digging in the thread,but,my game doesn´t look like IceFire SSs at all.
I thought that was achievable only with ---s (that banned word)... Now I have 32 bits colors enabled,still,trying to make the game to look SoW like of IceFire screenshots. |

i am using NVIDIA GeForce 210. I set 3D Ddisplay settings to "Quality" in video cards menu. But i still have some problems with quality.
