New firmware for G940

Here's the update:

http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupp...ate_FW0142.zip

* This release specifically targets and improves the accuracy of the X/Y on the joystick
* The firmware updater may hang. Don't panic. Simply close and reopen the updater. The G940's firmware wont be fully written until all blocks of data are transmitted and verified.

(I have yet to brick a G940 using this even when I tried to break it :smileywink: )

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update - I installed it and got the hang myself, a bit scary but no problems - it worked the second time... It seems like the dead center has become even smaller in this one too, and the precision feels better (it's easy to imagine things like that though if being a glass half full person)

I really like when companies/groups give us Christmas presents like that - nudge nudge ;)

Im not a developer so dont say me "Thanks " :P

Has anyone actually tested the new firmware? Does it completely solve the reversal bug?
Thanks!

Have tested it: It does remove the reversal bug on Stick x and y axes (aileron and elevator). It does *not* remove it on any other axis.

Yes: It's a known issue with the cable with the right throttle. Me (and others) have send the G940 back to Logitech and got a new one which showed the same problem later, too.

I (and others, too) have finally taken the problem in my own hands and opened it. Here's an example (albeit in German, from somebody else) on how to fix it.

Be aware: you loose any warranty by taking this path...

uhm, thanks oj.

Then send it in to Logitech immediately - it only gets worse - and hope for the best...

Hi everyone.

I was wondering for those who have this G 940 setup, how do you like it? I was never a fan of Force Feed Back but I'm hearing good things about this system.

Caveat Emptor, Richie... Caveat Emptor

If you're reading good things about the G940, you're not researching enough

I was thinking of getting a CH fighter stick and throttle so it's good to know.

I think that FFB is needed for feel how your plane reacts for all things. I wouldnt change it for nothing

My 940 Trottle has several short ciruits as well.
When I move the left throttle all hell breaks loose (several other axis and even the throttle coolie hat start jumping around).

It gets my nomination for the worst product of 2010.

Definitely a shortcircuit in the said cable. We all have it or had it :-( Return it to Logitech or follow the path shown here. I did. I am happy.

The reversal bug on all the other axes has not been fixed yet (never will?), so I disconnected some of them (Throttle, rudder, brakes) internally and feed them via a BU0836...

Nevertheless: After Logitech fixed the reversal bug on the x and y axis, the *feeling* of flying with forcefeedback is quite immersive. I am quite happy (and learned a lot about electronics and soldering).

Thank you for the linky, oj123. The fault lies with Logitech and the fault is pretty noobish if I may say so myself. The cable is too short and I cannot possibly imagine they tested and examined how the lever-movements impacts on that cable, before releasing the product to the market. When they have that flaw in every throttle quadrant out there, little does it help to just send another one back to their customers. I too shall open up my throttle quadrant in the near future.
