Okay, I read that with Google Translate. No new information here, but they seemed pretty positive that Crossworlds was a worthwhile expansion - it seems to me (and I could be wrong) that this will be the last King's Bounty game. Other than multiplayer, which not everyone wants, it seems like Katauri have crammed just about everything into this release. And the Orcs of the Marsh campaign is starting to sound like it will different enough from Armored Princess to be worth playing through after all.
I think that Crossworlds will be great for hardcore players because we like to try new strategies and experiment with different conditions (no losses, quickest time etc) so the short campaigns will likely aid with this without the long grind that The Legend's campaign especially was. |

Kind of sad this will be their last game. I realize that most folks think there are big $$$ in multiplayer but like you it is not what I strive for (also I wonder if that market will saturate). Oh well I know this is speculation. Still hopefully we will see new full length campaigns with the editor.

There Is Still Hope
On the review(at least google translated), it says it is the "latest add-on", so it can be easily misunderstood as the "last add-on". Other than that, I searched for more info on whether it is the last installment or not, and didn't find any indicators that say it IS, but you never know, they might just move on to another game:(. I'd personally very much love to see few more KB's by Katauri.
Anyway, can't wait for Crossworlds. |
I'm not saying that the reviews says this is the last addon, it's just my personal belief given that
a) it's the third KB game in three years b) it merges the best of TL and AP into one bigger entity (especially with spells) c) it includes the editor, leaving further work up to modders So I could be wrong, but I heard that Katauri were going to be working on a new game next. I'm hoping for Space Rangers 3, but it could be something else entirely. |
Guys, the decision about future of KB series is not made yet. There is still a possibility that something new will appear. I'll keep you informed about this question;)
|
I am very positive there will be a new KB....someday. But it needs to be completely overhauled not because it really needs but because they need to come up with something new and different. A new engine maybe etc. So it will take some time.

Maybe we need a "What would you like to see in King's Bounty after Crossworlds?" topic? :D |

Excellent, megakill. Katauri are one of my favourite developers at the moment, and I hope the great work continues whether it's King's Bounty or another title.

That made lot's of people happy. So I don't have any doubts that whatever new game they are workng now will do the same :-)) |

It's a positive review. (And hey, I didn't read it google-translated, it's actually my native language! ;)). The reviewer comments that the gameplay has at best only minimally changed and is just as great as in the two previous games. They found it to be an amazing and exciting experience.
(It's times like these when I wish I had stayed a gaming journalist, just to get to play my favourite titles a few weeks before everyone else! Ah well, those were the 90s. :)) |
KB is the most addictive game ever :) And certainly one of the best games out there hands down. I can't be more thankful for this game. It's a gem :)
|
Thanks everyone for such positive words! It's really great to see that so many people like our game, which is also loved by most people in our company.;)
I'm sure the next game from Katauri will be even better! |

KB is a better game than Space Rangers in my books. So their next game should be better than KB. And yes, I am participating as the producer, so I know what I am talking about. Announcement will be later this year :-) |
I'm not 100% sure KB is better than space ranger. I only played space ranger 2 reboot which I found to like quite a bit. I was not a big fan of the rts part in which I struggled quite a bit but the rest of the game was very enjoyable and i saw much room for additions.
I do hope this new game does not focus on MP or downgrades the SP experience. If so then hopefully it will be fun :) Quote:

I already know that crossworlds will be awesome, and its the reason I keep checking the "coming soon" tab of the steam store.
Honestly, it's probably a contender for a top 5 spot in my favorite games ever. Not a small feat either, given that I'm an extremely harsh critic with the jaded perspective of a gamer who has gamed all his life and is now a part of the game dev industry. I couldn't possibly buy this game fast enough when it becomes available. Given all of your talents, I'd love to see you guys make a true successor to X-com... Too bad someone is already busy making an FPS out of it. |

An Action RPG would be interesting, though I have to say that while simple in theory it seems that most studios that tried to make one somehow "failed". Diablo 2 set fairly high standards in terms of randomization and playability, and it sometimes wonders me that even after ten years it still hasn't been kicked off the throne. But anyway, no matter what you guys are cooking right now, chances are that I'll like it. K's track record is really very good when it comes to making games that appeal to me. :) |
Given that both Space ranger and King's bounty series are turn-base, I can't see them going real-time, even less real-time action combat!
A blend of both Open-endness of Space Ranger and turn-base combat style of King's Bounty could actually made one of the best gaeme ever. In Space Ranger, what makes it great it'S the freedom you get, the overwhelming feeling that you're not the center of the universe evoluing on your screen, but part of it. Cause, honestly, the combat are getting old pretty fast in Space Rangers, once you get decent gears. As for King's Bounty, the fun is actually in the combat as for preparing for them! The open-endness is somewhat pretty light compare to Space ranger. Anyhow, looking forward to what Katauri is cooking... |

The thing is, both game have turn-base combat! That'S why I'd love to see a blend of the 2... ;-) |

While I love everything King's Bouty related, what about the King's Bounty Online game they are doing? How exactly will it play? Open world with turn based battles? Massive 8 vs 8 players? And, are they really doing an Online game? an MMo or just "online?

oh plzplzplz dont stop with TBS.
I have been playing games my whole life and in the last years I thought that Im probably too old for this now, since no games could really keep me focused for a long time. not until the KB series hit the stores! And allthough I wouldnt finish 90% of the new games because I got bored so quickly, I have played the KBs games for countless times now. And even though I know every bit of the game I am still eager for another run. After Jagged Alliance 2 this game is my alltime favourite! So pleaaaase keep doing TBS games :) |
Hmm, several people have now mentioned Jagged Alliance. Perhaps I should give it a go sometimes.
