Every forum needs one, and since SF is down under, I can't look at all them pretties anymore. ToneOne should join these darn forums.
To kick off, I've plundered my old Imageshack account. Here's a series from an old game. How to get everyone on top of a roof: Pepper it with a few grenades.. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/68374689.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/24212704.jpg Ah, we have a victim! http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/78588930.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/74876055.jpg Make sure people are watching your back http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/91280295.jpg Done! http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/46886388.jpg |
In the "defend CdO" mission, I decided to solo a big part of it. Everything went quite smoothly, until I cleared em all out. I forgot that a second wave spawns.. and there I was, completely surrounded, outnumbered and outgunned.
The poor bastards. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...8-34-05-54.png Normally my loadout looks like this: http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...8-36-47-44.png It ended up looking like this: http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...8-34-25-70.png |
A neat series of screenshots that does a great job of illustrating how you address tactical concerns.
Your before/after pics of your loadout is funny. Now that's a sign of a desperate fight! |
Yeah, at one point I was sort of stuck. I always keep a flash + smoke with me for such a situation. Dropped the smoke, let it spread and ran across to some other buildings and flanked those four at the wall, and quickly took them out with the KS-23 and a grenade.
Initially I was very reluctant to use a shotgun like the KS-23, but it's one of two 2x3 slot shotguns. I gave it a go anyway. Turns out, the thing is an absolute killer. A buckshot from about 15 meters is pretty much a guaranteed kill. Where most flechette/buckshot hits do a lot of "slightly hit" damage, this one does a lot of normal "hit". It is nasty. Offset by the pump-action and 3 round capacity, but it's well worth it. Yesterday one of my mercs got hit in the head by one of those stupid Delta Force guys, and was knocked out. Quickly dropped a smoke, injected with some morphine and managed to crawl her out before the smoke dissipated. Surprisingly, 7.62 is one of the few games where smoke grenades actually work properly. PS: Need more screens/AARs. |
Pics from my last battle while escorting Sebastian to the baron..
When you have this pointed at you.. well, there isn't a whole lot you can do. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...2-49-53-43.png A typical KS-23 buckshot. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...58-29-58-1.png 'Ey Pedro! What did the boss say when a grenade lands next to us? http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...2-52-46-09.png You party and dance like a cossack! http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...2-52-57-52.png I'm sorry, I see you dropped your gun. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...2-58-38-61.png Here, you can have it back. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...2-58-47-80.png This enemy here got stuck in the BTR's model for some silly reason. I gave him a hand getting out of there. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...3-02-16-91.png |
The mission where Im assigned to take out the general's staff, or something.
My fps was terrible when I entered the sector, which can only mean that there are a lot of bad dudes. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...8-49-00-90.png Pretty much.. not done yet, either. |
Yeah, that mission is hard, or fun if you choose to look at it that way;) I think there's 2 or 3 waves of enemies also, and you need to finish them all for the trigger for Tanya to work. The main building, the one with all the officials, has a very nice roof that offers a lot of options when dealing with them. I have very fond memories of that battle:)
|
Im on the gov side.. but seriously? 2 or 3 MORE waves?
This is beginning to sound like left for dead, not a tactical squad based shooter :/ Im not really enjoying these stupid amounts of enemies. |
What helmets are you using in your screen shots, Ice?
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7...1128090917.jpg Where did that come from!? http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7...1128090928.jpg Oh... http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5...1128090957.jpg The Knight's Armament Company SR-25 is my favourite firearm and to find it upon capturing the base was one of the happiest gaming moments ever. Equiped with the suppressor and night vision optics it almost feels like cheating... |

@fallschirmjager
That`s vanilla isn`t it? I was happy too when I found that weapon and camo suit but then I realized it f@*!ed up the balance big time imao. Blue Sun however eliminated this balance issue removing this rifle and the early free AK as well. |

I do remember when I first got 7.62 I recall people talking about a stash of some description accessible from the beginning of the game. |

I think its in Sagrada or Campecino bottom left corner house full of crates. Thats where you pick up the Scorpion too.. |

Is the Scorpian and suppressor still present with BSM out of interest? And I see I've got "Militia" at the base, but only four lightly armed blokes. Anyway to expand their numbers so I can use them to hold a town or something? I thought this was a good shot. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9...1202201821.jpg Bullet time... ON! |
R@S will confirm that, but your militia at the base is spawned regularily.
I mean you can't interfere with their training nor with the number of men. On the other hand you can send them wherever you want or simply keeping them defending your base in case you don't play with the "base takeover" option activated (the last one is only for BSM). Also, you can fire some of them or the whole militia. But I don't know what's that for. Nat |

Yeah the Vz is present in BSM anyway. |
*revival*
Two with one shell. This game needs achievements. :P http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...5-09-17-36.png |

Woop. Revival.
Good old ambush mission. I prepared a little surprise for the poor men defending the trucks. When we arrived on the battlefield with my rebel friends, I saw a large group of armed government soldiers, closely packed together. It was just beautiful. 5 seconds later, I launched a RPO right in the middle of them. The glorious, glorious destruction http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsys...emot-swoon.gif http://i.imgur.com/Kvr2L.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wFVPW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/N7fbi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zOVza.jpg http://i.imgur.com/daMo6.jpg etc... With that single strike, they were stunned, injured and broken. It didn't last for more than 50 seconds. http://i.imgur.com/jNZdB.jpg |
** WARNING **
Scrolling down might blow up your screen, so proceed at your own risk. Just a little more :) Vanilla Weapons: http://i.imgur.com/zPi5o.jpg Blue Sun Mod Weapons: http://i.imgur.com/dLpdE.jpg |
It's GREAT to see that you're still working on BSM, R@S!
 I was getting a little bit worried, as I see how active you've been working on the Blue Dawn Mod for Back In Action. That enormous screenshot is super impressive to see. Can't wait! Thanks for sharing. :) |
Just did the Bushwhacked Bullwhackers on my own. I was a bit surprised to see myself start so close to all those jingos. I tossed some grenades and quickly sprinted to the big hill in the south. They were in pursuit.
What followed was a big mess of shotgun blasts, knocking weapons out of each others hands and ammo scarcity. Running back and forth, morphine and water flasks. http://i.imgur.com/7p1pk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qaoIt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sWnzW.jpg At one point it was so dramatic, I lost my shotgun, had spent all my sidearm ammo and I had to pick up a pistol off the ground. I managed that before more jingos came around, and managed to shoot two down. That magazine didn't last too long and I had to pick up another weapon. As I pulled back, I had more pursuers and shot them with a crappy MAC-11 .. Got some more distance, killed another one, and it came down to one jingo and me. I shot his weapon out of his hand, I ran out of ammo for my MAC-11. He proceeded to throw a knife at me (somehow still suspended in air), and I threw my weapon at him. http://i.imgur.com/UwC6B.jpg It was all very silly. |
Not without my car!

Just because I climbed a ladder down in an underground bunker doesn't mean my car has to stay behind. Next time I bring my BTR!

@ Iceshade
It was all EPIC! These are the kind of situations that made fall in love with this game. thanks for sharing! |
I just probably screenshot entire battles instead of just one or two.
Ambush by some slavers, and it's probably one of the worst locations to spawn in. Close call! http://i.imgur.com/tkwau.jpg Many grenades, snapshot bursts and sprinting a couple of meters here and there.. But we fought them off! When the going gets tough, someone hold my rodent! http://i.imgur.com/2rTQf.jpg |
Good ol' Minsk!
This spawn location is another good example for carrying some smoke grenades into the battle. You can create at least some sight blocking cover and spray and 'nade out of the smoke. |
Yeah, every merc has one smoke. But I only use em in emergencies. And this wasn't an emergency, just a bit of trouble. :P
|
I'd like to think this captures 7.62 quite well.
