You'd like it mate. They've got an I16 and a couple of Mig9's on the stand. La5 and La7 fly past later too!
It's real tissue territory!!

Ah very nice Pic Gilly hope you have a great time .

Awesome place. When I was about 10 my Dad took my younger brother and I. While we were walking around outside without pops we came across a trainer with the canopy open, there was absolutely no one around, so we were like "oh cool, lets check it out" so I boosted my younger brother into the back and I climbed in front and we played with the stick and rudder a little. Then we went to find our Dad to show him because he was a glider pilot at the time and thought it was so cool that they had a "hands on exhibit". Well, we returned to find the trainer taxiing down the runway getting ready to takeoff and my Dad says "so where is this plane?" and as it's getting airborne I point it out and say "well, I think that's it over there". Good times, luckily neither of us touched anything that took us on an excursion into the wild blue yonder.

I WANT MONEY!!!!! Then I'll come, and steal those Yak's and I-16. I'll need some defenders while I taxi off, but once I'm in the air, I should be home free. (Yet I need a ship to box them up and bring them back over here to the US. Hmm.... I'll need some other pilots too, just so I don't have to make multiple trips and have to be hassled by your cops and stuff. ;)

It really is one he111 of a place!
We haven't even mentioned or shown the photos from the hangar exhibitions- British airspace: Concorde, Lancaster, mosquito, vulcan, victor, tsr2, harrier, tornado, jaguar, Shackleton, eurofighter.
American museum: B17, B29, B52, P51, P47, F15, F111, A10, U2, SR71.
Then there's the air/ sea museum, Battle of Britain museum, land battle museum (Inc montys staff car!), two conservation hangers (Inc Blenheim and beaufighter undergoing restoration)....
And I've missed shed loads out that I can't remember off the top of my head!!!!
I cannot tell you how good this place really is!

f1rebrand 07-13-2010 07:03 PM

Def going back in Sept. I missed most of the smaller hangars!

It was a pleasure mate. Both yourself and Kav are welcome anytime, same goes for the rest of the Duxford Wing!
Great time, non stop banter, very messy at times and we were only told off once! Pretty good all things considered! Did nearly end up fighting over the showers with my german friend but think I managed to get my message over in my usual subtle way!
Thanks to Kav for the book, I'm translating it slowly! And many thanks to your goodself McQ for the spitfire book and 617 Lancaster model. It's now got pride of place infront of the TV so I can see it whilst playing BoP.
And a special thanks to the whole wing for one awesome weekend!
