Touching scene's you've seen with aircraft
Was a bit bored earlier today and decieed to look up a few clips on youtube of whatever took my fancy and came across one i've seen many times before, it got me thinking.... We all enjoy air displays now days and the purr of the engines, they are their to get our imagination going etc. But has any particular display or flight actually touched you and made you think about things etc?
This one gets me - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXDtE_lVAkk&feature=fvsr To go up and do that after seeing a pilot lose his life when his Hurricane crashed is a brave thing to do and shows alot of respect. Emotions and feelings must of been all over the place. Quite moving i find. What about you guys? Would love to see how we all differ/agree/share the same views on this type of thing. |
didnt care too much for the movie but flying in this scene i love! some of the best buzz jobs caught on film .. this and the one in tora, tora, tora .. oh, and the little kid is christian bale.

A touching moment would have to be when the rookies B-17 is taken out in Mephis Belle.
@FOZ, I dont want to worry you but they dont look like Hurricanes to me? |

Also in mephis belle, i know the scene. Mother and country gets taken out when a 109 cuts right through the fuselage after getting shot down by the co piloy who was in the rear turret and you hear them screaming over the radio. Good choices guys, keep them coming. |

Aye, that be the one.

Quite taken by the fact that Bale played exactly that scene as a child actor (which I didn't know he was). Thanks for putting that up. Great great actor. MAC |
that is actually kind of funny that he made that reference in another movie. when i reviewed that clip i knew the kid's face looked familar but couldnt place it. so i looked it up and was surprised it was bale. i thought he emerged like way later...guess not.

My best friend was killed while flying Apaches in Iraq. As Taps were being played at the funeral service, his squadron flew a missing man formation over the cemetary. That's one airshow I will never forget.

sorry to hear that flynlion,
this one is a bit obvious ,allways got me,the music, the mayhem and 'come in blue 2' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43zVR...eature=related |
Now if they could only make a proper movie about Malta, like they did with The Battle of Britain, they'd be set with some of the best air combat campaigns made into movies. They'd probably CGI the hell out of it, but if they did it right, it might work?

Pretty much this whole film

For me it has to be this. Malcolm Mcdowell at the end all alone back at base always gets me

Missing man formation
My most unforgettable flying formation was the missing man formation flown for my son with F-15 Eagles in the spring of 04.He was killed outside Bazrha in Iraq. The formation flew as we proceeded to the cemetery.

I don't think I'll look at an f-15 in the same way.. Sorry to hear that though.

I am so sorry for your loss Ratman. God bless him and all the boys from any nation that put themselves in harms way that we may be safe and free.

Sorry for your loss Ratman. Far too many Americans believe that war is something that only happens to other people thousands of miles away, but we know different. My buddy Pat died in a helicopter crash near Mosul, also in 2004. I would dearly love to fly with him again. 2004 was a bad year.
