SoW at E3?

I guess most people with somewhat of an interest in video/computer games has noticed that E3 is kicking off today. Will there be any 1c Games representation there maybe?

Schallmoser 06-14-2010 05:00 PM

Yeah addman, I was thinking the same thing all day... :-P

I guess we will soon know...

I would imagine Oleg will be planning something big for E3 its a perfect oppertunity for him to show off SOW before release in 3 months time.

Zorin 06-14-2010 08:04 PM

I wouldn't bet any money on a showing of SoW at the E3.

zauii 06-14-2010 08:45 PM

He already said it won't be there as i recall.
Besides E3 is more of a casual event.

Chivas 06-14-2010 09:05 PM

I doubt very much that SOW will be at E3, especially if the terrain isn't looking up to snuff just yet. There will be plenty of time for advertising when the sim is almost complete.

nearmiss 06-14-2010 11:16 PM

E3 is in Los Angeles,CA

You can check out the exhibitors at the E3 site. It starts tomorrow.

If you know who will distribute BOB SOW in the US you might cross reference.

Otherwise, don't think BOB SOW will be represented there.

lbuchele 06-15-2010 12:23 AM

Hmmm...
I´m not too excited about three month release date.
I´m feeling like six month release date it´s probably more real because Oleg has not announced a solid beta yet or the start of the beta testing.
Of course , it´s just a feeling,I want to be wrong,really...

bf-110 06-15-2010 12:31 AM

Oleg is not showing SoW on E3?Why?
It´s a good way to make his superb work know by a larger number of people outside Europe.

nearmiss 06-15-2010 01:15 AM

The BOB SOW is an aircombat flight simulator. It is not as gamey as a game. The market for BOB SOW is very specialized.

I was talking with a friend who is a big time gamer type. He said, "It is an exceptional game that holds interest for users more than something like 8 days."

Pretty much doesn't include an IL2 user does it?

I wouldn't expect BOB SOW to be much of an excitement for the typical gamer types that attend E3. E3 is in Los Angeles this year so I'd think it would be expensive to send someone over from Moscow to demonstrate it. It would hard to demonstrate otherwise, because no one outside Moscow has a copy of it as far as I know.

Years ago, when Forgotten Battles released the guys at gamestop didn't know what it was, and EA clerks only found it because it was in their computer. Not because they had any knowledge of it. That may have all changed now, but I doubt it.

Avimimus 06-15-2010 03:41 AM

Yeah, I've not called Il-2 a game in years and I've never thought of the crowd here as gamers (despite the fact that some play consoles - the term should stay with consols).

Flightsims were extremely popular back in the days when people used command line interfaces.

Yes,IL-2 is a true game,it´s not made only of graphics and sounds.
Game producers just found out that good looking games with limited gameplay will be played for a short time and then discarded.IL-2 is from 2001 (althought being updated) and it´s still played. And thanks Daidalos Team,it will have an even longer lifespam.I hope SoW can enjoy a long lifespam too.

Another thing is that european games (specially from eastern europe) don´t seem to be very popular on the americas, japanese games are even less.
It was very hard to find IL-2 1946 here in Brazil.

Guod checked with Oleg this past Thursday on the status of Storm of War, and would we see it at this year's E3Expo? He replied back, "We had hoped to show it at E3, but we are not ready yet. SoW is going very good. Can't say superb in terms of time, but good. I'm sure it will be something very good done in comparison to all sims present on the market."

"We had hoped to show it at E3, but we are not ready yet" Ooo..k, some games shown at E3 are not even half finished yet and won't be released for years but I guess Oleg has good reasons for not being there and I guess that reason is finishing the game... ;)

addman 06-15-2010 05:16 PM

OT and BTW, Nintendo3DS looking pretty darned interesting

oh, god; they're always "we really hope... but we're not ready... ". if you don't wanna show up jus answer it directly without any additional reasons, "really... but... " makes no sense~~~~

Tree_UK 06-16-2010 06:52 AM

Frankly I am stunned that they are not going, its completey dashed any hopes of a 2010 release.

Feuerfalke 06-16-2010 07:06 AM

E3 is mostly focused on casual gamers. They don't care for realistic simulation or weapons effects, but for visual perfectionism. As Oleg posted repeatedly, finetuning optical appearance will be the last step in making SoW.

In other words: Being on the E3 or not doesn't say a thing about when it is going to be released or not. The above was no secret before, so it's nothing to bail out in panic, now E3 is here and these statements turn out to be true.

Besides that, I'd rather like to see the team working on SoW instead of losing 2 weeks for preparation and traveling around the world to LA.

Yeah thats a good point

Ctrl E 06-16-2010 08:21 AM

oleg's quotes to simhq sounds like he's suggesting there will be a large delay. 2010 unlikely i reckon.

Baron 06-16-2010 08:23 AM

From Oleg: "In my personal opinion, except meetings with some old friends this is the most incorrect place to spend money that is better to invest in development."

Nothing about delays etc, etc. Just common sence.

nearmiss 06-16-2010 02:45 PM

A lot of the games at E3 are just test market stuff. The developers show partially completed games and take notes. It is very expensive to produce a game. The developers and investors try to get enough feedback to determine whether to proceed with the project.

Oleg knows his market, and his fan base is pretty well dedicated. That should be obvious from continued interest in IL2.

I wouldn't write off the BOB SOW for 2010 as has earlier been mentioned.

For God sake. Eries, stop trolling this. If you don't like something/someone, PM them but don't bring your crap to the forum. It's piss annoying for anyone with an interest in a topic to see an update in posts, only to see it's just like spam. Everyone's entitled to their opinions so don't slate someone for it.

Maby because people tend to take WHATEVER Olegs says in the most negativ way possible thereby creating "facts" that isnt there and never have been?

Ex. According to oleg its not going perfect timewice, just good, conclusion by said people: "Release delayed til next year, again"

Its getting old.

Hey, maby Oleg was planing a July release but its not going PERFECT time wice so we will only get it by Okt. (just as true as anythingelse at this point)

philip.ed 06-16-2010 08:14 PM

Baron, I except that, and I apologised to Eries as I overreacted ;)

Oleg can release it when he wants, we'll all still enjoy it. But in the meantime, people will still make fun of the release-date subject :D

BadAim 06-16-2010 10:33 PM

LOL, I think all of this waiting (no matter what our individual views) is making a lot of us cranky. I'm of the view that SOW is nearly finished, but I'll be willing to wait all the time that is needed. I doubt any of us are happy about the wait though.
