Frame-rate Issues
Hello,
I own Rig'n'Roll since serveral days and it is a really realistic simulation. But when I'm driving in career- or single order mode with maxed out settings, I'm just getting around 16 fps. Are there any suggestions to fix this problem? (System: Q8200, 2GB RAM, ATI 4850) Thanks! |
Framerate Issues
What's the framerate that 1C Company expect with this config :
System Requirements In order to play the game, your PC should meet the following requirements. Minimum: OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz RAM: 1 GB Graphics card: DirectX 9.0-compatible, nVidia GeForce 5700 or ATI RADEON X800, 128MB of video RAM Sound card: DirectX 9.0-compatible Hard drive: 10GB of free space DirectX 9.0с DVD drive Keyboard, mouse |
Well, I guess about 30 FPS, because that's the normal standard framerate at which you can play the games really smoothly.
|
I play at 18 FPS and my config is above the minimum one

Athlon 64 3500+ Geforce 6800 GT 256 Mb Ram 2 Go SB Live! Ok I got 27 fps But here is all what I did to have 27 fps. 1) Installed Omega Forceware modified driver. 2) Installed DXTweaker to force Triple Buffering & V-Sync 3) Installed AMD Fusion Kit to shutdown all background services of Windows & give more power to AMD. ==> Now I can do some more like overclocking my system. At least I will now make a new game trying the bugs I found on the road Lebec - Los Angeles. To see if there is any change. Ok I still have the graphics bugs on the road Lebec - Los-Angeles. ==> only solution when I see 3D world missing : PAUSE Key |
Could you please tell me if installing all those programs really makes a big difference tot hte frame rates

I have: Intel 2, 4 Core at 2.83GHz CPU 8GB of Ram GeForce 9500 GT 1GB Adapter My frame rate is between 30-45 depending on where I am, and how much traffic there is. I have yet to see a glitch, freeze, or game crash. The game specs listed earlier in this thread are just the minimal, not peak performance. |
AMD Fusion helps to reduce CPU & memory usage before starting the game by stopping backgrounds services. But the gain can only be seen on low configs when on a high config the gain would be near 0.
|
That might help me then but always turn other programs off in task manager
Just noticed its doesnt work on intel |
FPS dropping in San Francisco on US 101
Anyone else get this? This is on US 101, between the outskirts of San Francisco to the Golden Gate Bridge exit.
Around where the SF Intl Airport is and all of that, I can feel my FPS dropping. But usually it's still playable. However, it was ALOT worse yesterday when I was streaming to a friend, and it was raining. Now I got a pretty decent computer, but I was getting as low as 2-4 FPS in that area. Nearly unplayable. I just want to know why it's so bad. I mean, you got cities like LA and Reno, and it never studders there. Your PC is a 2.2 maybe the game just makes bad use of your cores. There are many games where a good dual core will play a game better than a low quad core

If you are on the russian version, this is an known problem. The english version does not do this as its a newer version with optimization fixes.

Same thing here, as soon as you are nearing the bridgeheads from the south you start to experience a FPS drop...
I think it has to do something with the models, too many building models loading unproperly or the bridges are too heavy together and make a FPS drop... I had the same thing when I played ETS on my own map and when I placed too many buildings on 1 place without giving them a loading boundary... |
The Bay bridge area I notice the most fps drops so I just stay away from them most of the time. I think it's to do with all the road bridges. Lolsmurf do you prefer this to ETS yet?

Same here.. :(

Funny how that is the recommended specs for the game. They should be working on more optimization for the next patch

If your question is whether I like this game more than ETS the answer is yes. This game doesnt get boring after playing it several hours and making choises affect the story so everybody plays the game on his/her own way |
Here too..
First, sorry, i have no nice english.
Here too, cant join on san francisco "missions", the screen starts freeze, impossible play. I can save game with freezes? Yes, but, close and open new game the freez continue. Is 2.8GHz I solved question... Just open game folder and give a admin (win) permission to: rungame.exe diretory /bin: rnr.exe minidumper.exe note: No need use compatibility mode, just admin permission. Now, go to Advanced system config on win7 64, and add rungame.exe, rnr.exe and minidumper.exe in DEP config. It procedure just solve a critical freezes problems. I dont know my fps now, but, no more 2 to 4 fps O.o ... finally, i can play, no more freeze. Have nice day. |
"Mediocre" performance in general
Does anyone else seem to struggle to get into the 30s for FPS in this game? I seem to stick around the 20s on average, with traffic minimal (I hate to be alone ha ha). It seems that changing the graphics doesn't make a difference. I set the game at minimum, restart the game even, and still get FPS in the 20s. I go max, restart, same thing. Everything in between doesn't seem to make a difference either. I get 10 FPS around the San Francisco bay area as many have pointed out have the same issue.
I have the English version of the game, with hotfix too. And I thought my pc was in pretty decent spec  Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM (6GB spec) Hard Drive: 483 GB (500GB spec) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ OC 512MB GDDR3 Monitor: Dell Widescreen 19" 16:10 ratio 1440x900 (Digital) Sound Card: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) Speakers/Headphones: Stereo Standard Dell Speakers + Subwoofer Keyboard: USB Root Hub Mouse: USB Root Hub Mouse Surface: Pittsburgh Steelers baby!!! I noticed MASSIVE memory leaks and huge fps drop after 1-2 hour of playing, when traffic is set to any value than 0%. So it looks like it is traffic related bug that is causing it.
|
This game has overall a pretty bad performance, it seems that it wasn´t optimised at all.
I have serious framerate drops when haven a few cars on screen, changing the graphics option doesn´t do much and I play on 1024*768. System: Amd Dualcore 64X2 5000+ 4GB Ram ATI 4670 512MB Win7 32bit German Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator run at much higher framerate with a higher resolution and look better overall. But I do like Rig´n Roll for its arcade approach to the genre, having all those mission per CB and all, I just hope the game gets optimised more with further updates. |

Yeah, I did notice that traffic made a difference. I'll try running for a while with absolutely no traffic to see if it helps, but that takes away some realism IMO (although they only travel 35 mph on a straightaway, even on the interstates).
|
I hate to say this but the game has huge memory leaks still even after the hotfix for the en/us version AND even after playing with traffic set to 0 if you get caught by the police you can say bye bye to 30+ fps also i noticed the more loads you del;iver succesfully/complete the less fps you get after 2-3 hours and it doesnt matter where you are on map or your video settings min/.max or resolution very sad.
:arrow:temporary solution i noticed recently thta running the game in windowed mode buys me 30-40 min of gametime @58-78fps on top of those 2-3 hours wher the game preforms @ 58-78 fps drop from the usual 70-80 i get after loading my savegame ( wich lasts 30-35 minutes doesnt matter where located on map ) it drops to 57-80 and it doenst increase no matter what i do it only decreases to 25- the more i play furthere on i noticed ALSO that after the fps drops to 30 or so whatever video settings i change ( from the ingame menu , not going to main menu ) my game instantly CTD's with no error messages thats a clear sign the game still has serious memory leaks and i cant comprehend as to why after all this time they didnt release an urgent/emergency patch to adress taht issue only...it eludes me |
2.6 Ghz
The strange thing is that RnR seems to run better with max resolution. The game seemed to run choppier in 1024*768 than in much higher resolutions. Very strange. But it´s really unacceptable that a game like this needs such demanding hardware specs. It´s not Crysis... I just hope that the patch comes soon, where they said to have optimised the game a bit. |
Jesus, you are complaining about those fps? I have trouble running the game at a solid 30 fps most of the time.
It slows down to a crawl now and then, when there is more traffic than usual. Changing the graphic settings doesn´t matter, also not changing the resolution, it even runs better with higher resolution than lower, which is very strange. |

|
Yeah I would be happy if the game would run at a steady 30fps, which it doesn´t.
L4D2 runs very smooth on my pc also, as well as other Truck sims, which outshine RnR in fps in every aspect. But somehow I am coming back to RnR always, there is something to like about this game. |
No im not complaining about 50+ fps im complaining about the fact that it doesnt stay above 30-40 after 4 or more hours...the game still has memory leaks or whatever its causing the massive fps drop in the course of 2-3 hrs from the steady 50-78fps @ gameload to 26-30 when it shutters/lag so bad i have to reload, basicly i ran numerous testing sessions and aparently it goes from 78-80 after gameload to 67-72 after 1-1.2 hrs of game time then 50-62 after 2 hours and then 22-28 ( not stable it would be awsome if it would be stable @ 28 but its not) at the point i have to reload my save becuse it just unplayable
sorry for my bad/wierd way of putting it but english isnt my native lang and im tryign to explain my issue (on both of my pc's) wich im sure everyone is having wich is a shame as its the games only real major gamebreaking issue:evil: talking about memory leaks i remember disciples III having similar issues the game was ctd and had major slowdowns , i remember buying mine digital copy of d3 only to become fustrated by the ctd's and missing textures/crashes wich were adressed and fixed by now ( the us version of d3 doesnt have em.) but it was patched somewhat quick after the issues were addresed and reported i wonder why isnt rnr , i bet it sold a ****load more copies than d3 III russian and int/eng version alltogether... |
It's interesting that you're experiencing such a drop, for me I go from high 20s to low 20s in a course of 3-4 hours. But it seems that I don't drop FPS that much (and good thing I don't, otherwise I'd be playing with FPS in the single digits...).
|
I don't know if this was said before.
If the fps drops below playable levels, save the game, and quit completely, not just to the main manu, to the desktop. Run the game again, and load the save, then the fps should be back to normal. This worked for me. Its not a solution just a workaround. |
I too noticed alot of shuttering and lag when i play the game and drive on the bay bridge. My specs:

Hello guys!
I have a similar problem... Especially on US-101 between San Jose and San Francisco (The location where you can decide driving on to Oakland or to G.G. Bridge) my framerate drops. I also have a dropping of the FPS on some other places like partly on the way from Oxnard to Los Angeles. Not as extremely as on this 101-place, but you notice something like the beginning of a slideshow. On other places, especially from Atascadero to Kettleman City or Mi-Wuk Village, the FPS is high enough for a nice gaming. Everything runs fine. Also on some road-parts, for example between Santa Barbara and Atascadero. It seems that the traffic and the surroundings have a big influence. When I turn off the traffic nearly everything runs fine, even on this US-101 location the FPS does not drop so bad like when traffic is turned on. Now to my game and computer: I play the German version of Rig'n'Roll. CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 (4 x 2.40 GHz) RAM: 4 Gb Graphic: ATI Radeon HD 4890 (1024 Mb) Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) Controller: Logitech G5, G15 and G25. Background-programs while playing: Xfire, no difference when it's closed. Of course my drivers are updated. The ATI Catalyst options are set on high qualities, only AA and AAA are turned off (4xAA is turned on in-game, AAA causes graphic bugs.) 16x anisotropic filtering via ATI. In Rig'n'Roll options everything is maximized. Playing on 1280x960 and 50% traffic density. I already tried less traffic desity (10 to 20%) and reduzing car details, reflections details and anisotropic filtering. Other games work fine, even Crysis runs on high options with a good FPS. So I don't think that my computer is too bad for Rig'n'Roll. Sorry for talking so much. A lot of stuff to read, maybe someone had this time. ;) Maybe someone has an idea for optimization for me. Otherwise I hope that another patch could fix these performance problems... Greets, Christian (BleDrajor) |
Your RAM may be the issue here. I'm not sure about the German version, but I think it requires 1 - 2GB of RAM, and you only have 4MB of RAM according to your specs. This is far too low for this game.

Still playable. @EDIT 2: I passed the Golden Gate. 17-25FPS sometimes 14. Also fraps overloading system so without fraps game runs better. I don't feel bad FPS at all. I like this game :D. Golden Gate looks A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I never been here.... This is my favourite place :D Especcialy Vista Point :> |

Sorry, I totally forgot to change that, didn't think about the "," and "." thing. Fixed it now.
Okay, so what could be the problem now? More and more I begin to believe that my Quad Core CPU has problems while Dual Cores have better chances. Could that be true? If yes, what's then? I don't really want to buy a new CPU as long as other games run fine. Would it be possible for the game developers to bring out a patch that could fix this problem? |
Quote:
Your quad system is good. I have it too. Just don't make a common mistake that it increases speed 4 x 2.4GHz. This is not the case. The quad core just allocates data and/or memory better NOT faster. You would be surprised at how many people think this is faster (like 4x2.4GHz=9.6GHz). Keep in mind that this is a heavy game, and poorly optimized. 2.4GHz will cause some frame drops in highly detailed graphic areas, and traffic set high. That's just the way it is. The only thing I can recommend is a faster CPU, or just lower the settings to an acceptable/playable rate. I too hope for a patch to correct this for all concerned. |
9.6 GHz would be a really nice thing...
Thanks for your help! |
In audio settings, change Open AL for another one, i set it in Realtek High definition (my drivers), change for yours ;) that's works for me...

good evening all!! i am new around here... and i hate to introduce myself asking for solutions :(
as i can see there is no newer patch/fix for english version of rnr. i have same problems issue regarding frame rate near to greenfield and san francisco. i've tried to solve this updating vide ocard drivers... but unfortunately things went worse!! for example: the movie from beginning is playing with 60 FPS (instead of 220 - like he did before updating drivers)... and instead of 25-30 PFS (in game)... now i have 8-10 fps. i have tried to roll back video drivers... and nothing!!! i've tried 3 different plder drivers from nvidia and nothing.. the game remains unplayable :(. is there anything special to do?? my comp specs are: Core2Duo E6300 - 1.83 Ghz (overclocked at 2.8 Ghz), 5 GB of ram (3.5 usable cause i am using 32 Win7 32 bit), nvidia GTX 460 (1GB/256bit) video card. does anyone know if a new fix/patch will appear?? also: i played crysis 2 with all details maximized (without anti aliasing)... and rarely i went below 27 frames please help!! thanks in advance greets raiken |
Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Your CPU speed of 1.83. (overclocked 2.8Ghz) is still running at the minimal specs of the game requirement. This is not enough to run the game properly. As you can see from most of the problems reported, they are from people with a CPU speed of less than 3.0Ghz. As discussed in the patch thread, there in no patch forthcoming as of yet, in spite of what may be rumored. I believe any patch for the international version of this game may not be seen for quite some time. Crysis is a different species of a game than RNR, and shouldn’t be compared. They are designed quite differently from each other. |

and now.. i can mention that 8-10 FPS and 25-30 FPS are EXACTLY in the same part of the map... even in single mission when i am entering in the warehouse! soon... in 1 month at last 2.. i will change my platform to an i5... but till than... it will be awesome if i will bring those 25-30 frames back. thank you PS: is there any way to select openGL or direct 3d?? maybe it is a file which is giving a glitch in rendering... :-? |
Good Lucky. Just remember that overclocking is not the answer for every game, and/or situation. You may do more harm than good. I have seen way too many machines overheat using this option, and die without the proper stress test being done. Therefore I never use this option. I’d rather buy a better CPU/Motherboard than have to risk that option, and wind up getting one anyway.:(
If you think Crysis looks, and feels good now, wait until you get a better system when you’re ready. There is no way to change the OpenGL, or Direct 3D settings on this game. It simply doesn’t offer it. What you see in the video options is all you get. |
already discussing this somewhere else but perhaps this is good info to other readers;
amd athlon 64 x2 4800+ 2.5ghz 2gb ram win 7 64-bit wasn't surprised about frame drops due to my lack of ram, eventhough i run other games such as dirt 3 and gta 4 just fine, but the game becomes absolutely unplayable during the night. tried just about everything, fiddled around with every setting--no luck. shame, love this game. |
The minimal game requirements is inaccurate to run this game, and play it as intended. You really need the recommended requirements. See HERE. This game causes havoc with many people running on 2GB Ram, and CPU speeds lower than 3.0GHz. Dirt 3, and GTA4 are better optimized to run on a variety of computers with these specs. You can’t compare those two games with this one. This game is a CPU hog in almost all aspects.
|
that's only due to poor optimization--something which can be fixed... a patch or hotfix would be welcome. we paid for it.
|
And as I stated in the patch threads, that the prospects of a patch for the English version appears to have been abandoned.
|
I'd just like to note that I do not believe the critically low framerate issue (~1-2FPS in certain cities / areas) is entirely due to hardware, if at all.
My hardware: AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4GHz ATI Radeon HD 5850 1GB 4GB DDR2 RAM Running on Windows 7 64bit. I've tried running the game on various graphical settings (from low, medium, high in everything to mixes of things), as well as running the .exe as an administrator, launching at lower resolutions (Monitor is 1080p native), running it with compatibility modes for older Windows versions, and a few other "fixes" that were suggested by this thread's users. Game runs at well above 60FPS at maximum settings in the starting area. The two times I have noticed it dip was when the day cycle turned to night - although that could be a coincidence. Lowering shadowing does not help. I do not believe that a lack of hardware power is the cause of the issue. At the most, the process belonging to the game was only hitting 2GB of RAM with nothing else of significance running in my background (barring Steam). The CPU usage wasn't really notable as doing anything crazy. I frankly don't really care about the lack of resolution to this game's issues. But it sure is kinda disappointing for people who actually give a crap about these kinds of games. But, for all I know, there's better sims out there. So whatever. Just thought I'd help you guys troubleshoot, as you probably don't have much of a community to gather support from. That wasn't supposed to sound as insulting as it might. |
Hello & welcome to the forum.
Your system far exceeds the game requirements, as does mine. I don’t get frame reductions as drastic as others with lessor specs. The game is poorly optimized, and the lower end computers just simply can’t handle this game well. Many have reported frame issues that make the game crawl along. One of the more notable areas was the SF Bridge, and other highly congested places. Therefore computer hardware, and the poor optimization of the game is certainly an issue. The ones that actually get the game to run well, seem to like it. I know I do. Trucking sims aren’t for everyone. There’s no need to belittle people that are interested in these types of games as your last remark seems to imply. It’s a matter of taste. ;) |
I didn't make myself clear, sorry. When the game cycles to night time, the game becomes unplayable for me. 1-2 FPS at most. The game runs absolutely perfect at any other time of day, including the fade from afternoon to night. It is the moment that the game reaches night that it becomes unplayable for me.
I have tried turning down every setting. I have gone into .ini files and attempted to remove shadowing, reflections, etc from the game. I have tested in different cities and different times of day with different graphical settings. Night time drops the performance down to nothing. Is there a way to disable night time during the story mode? Or is there a known solution to this issue? I do have alternate hardware to test on if needed, but I'd sooner ask here. |

Hello, and welcome to the forum.:)
Check this post Here. Maximum/Recommended Requirements or above is best for this game. It's poorly optimized for CPU specs that are less. |
