I did a clean fresh Install, deleted all files and some registry records. My System is Win7 X64. IL-2 is a clean 4.09m Install. I am at work now so I can't post my OpenGL Settings from IL-2.

Win 7 x64, Radeon HD5870, 10.5 un-clean install (over 10.4) and it works. There's one thing I've noticed - spinning propeller texture flickers from time to time, that's new, but not too distracting. Tried a couple of quick missions (45 minutes altogether) and everything is fine.

Do remember to remove the 9.10 atioglxx.dll from your game folder, it's no longer needed and will cause your 10.5s to be messed up if left in place.

A buddy of mine just went with a 5830 yesterday and we got it installed and up and running using the Cat 10.5s.
My only issue now is I can't get the SaveAspect to actually work and run the game widescreen. I can't figure this one out. Anyone have any ideas? |
Everything is now sweet, but I still have to disable vertex options as I get the Blue flash when I fire the guns.......pity, off to bug report again.

You can use both VertexArrays options if you set DynamicalLights=1 to 0. I saw no difference in lighting but the "blue hue" was gone. I asked about this vertex array thing from a friend, understood bits here and there but basically it should improve performance. |

With 9.10 OGL driver in game folder, Myself prefer to use next lines and retain Water=2 - it is shame to loose it..:( TexCompress=2 TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1 Both lines help v.card to render at more ease with unnoticeable effect for me,shame to admit that with 5870 we need it but it works:) LandShading=2 Some cloud shade lose - more realistic for me and 10% FPS up at least:) LandShading=2 Update: Also eliminates shadows from explosions dirt and smoke,I'm back to LandShading=3 gprr |

looks to me like some files from the 10.5 driver weren't deleted when you installed 9.12 ("Library=C:\Windows\system32\aticfx32.dll" tells me this), did u run the uninstaller for the 10.5 drivers before you installed 9.12? if not, you'll have to re-install the 10.5 drivers, uninstall them properly, then go back to 9.12...and if that doesn't work google an ATI driver cleaner type program (i don't remember what its called) and completely remove all files related to ur ATI drivers, and re-install 9.12

AKA_Tenn i followed your suggestions and reinstalled 10.5, everything works again, thank you very much.
I turned off Dynamicallights (set it to 0) but it did not help. What is actually flashing is trasparent textures like canopies when against transparent objects like clouds or prop disks. |

Also try disabling both VertexArray options, set them to 0 under conf.ini. |
They are already set to 0.
After further testing i found that the problem exists with some aircraft only. Some have flashing canopies, some others flashing/disappearing prop disks. No problem when you set AA to "application controlled". |

Have you checked if Catalyst AI makes any difference? Test using it on Standard and Advanced with AA on and off. Blue hue should be gone with VertexArrays if you set dynamical lighting to 0. |
Attention: New Catalyst Driver are out (Catalyst 10.6) but some people are reporting that the Problems who were resolved in the 10.5 for some ATI graphic cards owner did bring the Problem in 10.6 back and is getting worse…
