Hired Drivers/Management, New Trucks, Income, Offices, & Related Questions.

where do you buy different trucks in the game?

chosenvessel33 03-15-2010 08:57 PM

You have to go to your office. It should show up on your map as a green computer. Its also where you start off your Campaign Mode. Once there you can scroll through the tabs to buy a truck. It should be the 2nd tab on the left hand side on the top of the screen. Good luck!

Company Turnover?

How do I increase the company turnover to get more warehouses?

GinXeng 04-21-2010 01:50 PM

You need more drivers, the more drivers you have, the more turnover your company covers.

How do you mean "fine tune"?

Are you talking about controlling the truck (using a controller of some sort)?

Or

Are you talking about buying upgrades from the "Repair Shop"?

spidierox 05-02-2010 06:51 PM

hahaha someone didn't read the manual....

It is about the jobs your driver takes: manual says instead of auto (so your AI driver selct the jobs himself) you can "fine-tune" it (as in get a better performance which I translate in more ROI)

So any tips on how to "fine-tune" the job selection criterias for your AI drivers ?

No, I read the manual completely. I just didn't know what you were referring to. Now I get the picture. The thing is you can't configure the job itself. But you can change the category configuration display. Such as Destinations, Type of Jobs, etc. Just click the top of each category you wish to explore in the warehouse.

spidierox 05-03-2010 09:08 AM

Ok, that part I already understood. Basic RTM.
Lets keep it simple :any tips on how to fine-tune ?

How can I tell my drivers are more happy when moving sliders left or right ?
Sometimes the salary changes when moving sliders. Salary change going upward is that good ? ..or is that a bug.
(you can do this by adding fe. 1 to salary and then change another criteria slider)

Hired drivers/management, new trucks, income, new offices, & related questions.

I was just wondering. I have 4 drivers who work for me, but i cant extend my coverage because it says that "your turnover (daily income) allows you to contract only 17 warehouses". My drivers rating average is about 700+ and average about $3700 - $4500 a day ROI(Return Income). I usually just buy my new drivers base trucks with no upgrades. If i give them better trucks (or upgrade my trucks), will they rack in more money for me?

GinXeng 05-05-2010 12:12 AM

Nope, I got the same problem, what I do is buy my self a truck. Do all the upgrades drive it for a while then pass it up to one of my drivers. Then I buy another I like and do the upgrades all over again. In the end I up having a fleet of maxed out trucks but it makes no difference to my drivers.

They do take jobs automatically, but you can change the settings in "Manage Drivers" at Nick Office. You can change type of load, distance, etc.

You need more trucks & drivers for them. This gains you more of a "Rate of Turnover". It takes some time. Rome wasn't built in a day. Don't be so impatient. Some assistance is given on page 30 & 31 of the manual. It's not crap, or wtf. Think about it.... Could you open more branches with just one, or two drivers in real life? ;)

Melkor 06-11-2010 10:44 PM

Just a small question

How do you buy more branches because when i try it says something like your are limited to only 17 warehouses and i only have 15 so i can't find any branch that has two warehouses, is it possible to unlock something so you can buy more?.....
USA_Trucker i know you will have the answer to this :) because you've helped me with my problems/questions in the past

USA Trucker 06-11-2010 11:39 PM

Make some money, buy a truck & hire a driver. Let the driver, and yourself make some more money. When you're ready, go to Nicks' office, and purchase another branch. Each driver you hire needs a truck to drive to earn more money. The more drivers you have making money the more branch's you can purchase. I have found that one driver = one branch.

There are a few ways you can do this. You can do the following:

Go to Nicks' Office, and click 'Manage Drivers'. From there use the slider bars.

1) Long distance has more money, but at a slower rate.

2) Fragility gives you more money in long/short distances depending on your drivers rating. A low rating may need more repairs, tickets, or other penalties.

3) Racing can have a lot of money in the short term depending on your drivers rating. A low rating may need more repairs, tickets, or other penalties. Also, your truck should be a fast one.

The last two can be adjusted for short, or long distances. Make a note of each of your drivers performance before you assign them a task.

Lolsmurf 06-22-2010 06:04 PM

And do they get more experienced after a while or are you forced to fire them and hire more professional ones ?

That's a very good point. I never thought to look at that. So, if I were you I would note your drivers experience, and let two weeks to a month of game-time to pass, and check the driver again. Let us know.

M76 06-24-2010 08:18 AM

A month of game time? How long would that take in real time? fifty-sixty hours?

That also gives me an idea, what if I hire 2 drivers at the start of the game, and just leave the game running unattended for a week, would the genereate a million dollars with no effort at all? Or there is a time limit in the game that would prevent this?

USA Trucker 06-24-2010 11:15 AM

1 minute of real-time equals 24 minutes of game-time. Do the math from there.

Drivers need trucks, and in the early part of the game you don't have enough cash to purchase 2 decent trucks. I never hire a driver unless I max out my current truck. I then hire a driver, give him/her my truck, and I buy a new one, and repeat the process. If you give them crappy trucks, you'll get crappy results for income, and they won't stay long.

kennyb87 06-24-2010 12:20 PM

You cant hire the good drivers unless your experience/rank I'm not sure what it's called is better than theirs. I do the same as USA Trucker I drive a truck max it out then give it to a driver. You will find changing the drivers job settings is the best for results and also buy a truck with low miles or you get repair bills a lot

USA Trucker 06-26-2010 03:00 PM

If you really want drivers with excellent ratings, then I would complete the 'Story-Line' first. If you didn't have accidents, and completed loads, won races, and completed 'Side Missions' without penalties, your ranking/rating will be very high, and you'll be able to hire the best drivers available.

You can only tell them to go short, or long distances. Not specific warehouse's. I'll move this thread to a place where similar questions were asked.

In Nicks Office, go to 'Manage Fleet' (where you bought the truck). If you have several trucks just click one of them, and then click 'My Truck'. They will switch places, and you have a new truck. You have to have 1 or more extra trucks to do this.

Kimmy 07-27-2010 06:45 PM

Has anyone met any of their drivers on the road?

What I mean is; are the trucks and drivers actually there or are they ‘virtual’? I’ve been trying to met up with my other trucks, but I haven’t done it yet. They only show up on the map from the office, you don’t see them on the map you see in the cab.

Please let me know.

USA Trucker 07-27-2010 06:48 PM

They're virtual. You can't meet, or speak with them.:(

Kimmy 07-27-2010 07:48 PM

Thanks USA Trucker.

That’s really disappointing. It would have been a nice feature being able to form a convoy with your other trucks.

Cheers.

shof 08-01-2010 09:43 PM

Is it possible to buy all of the branches? Whenever i buy a new branch, it said that i can only have 14 warehouses at a time which makes no sense to me at all

USA Trucker 08-02-2010 08:58 AM

It certainly is possible. You have to have a Truck & Hired driver for each office you want to open up. IE: 3 truck & drivers will open 3 offices.

What I meant by meeting them, is in the bar/restaurant/hotel. I would also like to know how do you know this guy is your trucker. Looks to me like he could be anyone. You'll have to come up with some additional proof that he is one of yours.

One big pot of questions

Hello

I'm playing R'n'R since 2 weeks and I have several questions to ask.
I'm using the "german" version.
I will try to devide it into chapters.
And i don't use NOS. I don't like it.

1. Rigs and Driving
Okay, the best Rig in game is the truck you like most. Mine is the hercules atlas.

But i don't understand the fuel consumption of the trucks.
I was pulling a 19tons steamroller from LA to Burney. On the hole way i only needed 347gallons of diesel. I have filled my truck up in LA, drove to Burney, deliver the Steamroller and drive to the next gas station. 347 gallons.
In Burney i took 2 containers of wine back to LA, 8tons. And i got to refuel my Truck at the Truckstop near by Lebec. 356 gallons.
Both ways with ctrl+forward.
I pull a heavy cargo up the hills and need less fuel then pulling a light cargo down the hill?

Is the CP600 engine a gascuzzler? I've got the feeling that the CP600 need about 15% more fuel than the DDS575.

Is their a possibility to modify the gearboxes? In several trucks, like the Argosy or the classic, the gearbox has a really long transmission. The Argosy could probably go 135mph in the 5th gear. Even without a trailer and driving dowhill with CTRL+forward and full NOS, i can't reach 130mph.
The Atlas has only 475HP but a really short gearbox and i think, its the fastest rig ingame.

2. Weather
Wuhi, the sun always shine in california. California the sunshine-state.
Where???? I'm always driving in the rain or at least on wet streets.
The weatherreport in my pda says sunshine and it is raining cats and dogs. Everwhere. Only in a small area around oxnard i have dry streets and sunshine.
And driving on wet streets is unfunny.
Is there an option i don't see to make the weather more californialike?

3. Management
I just don't understand my driver. What in hell they want?
I have a rank 907 driver that earns 2250$/d and has a loyalty of 63% and a daylie income of about 9000$.
My other two drivers are crazy. Rank 868 and 827. If i pay them in the auto-option, they will earn 2973$ and 3298$ per day. With a loyalty of 37%. And both have better trucks than the rank 907 driver. And their daylie income is 6500$ and 5700$.
If i pay them 2250$/d, they quit immediately.

Maybe you could gave me some answers. Especially on chapter 3.

Greets

Starflyer

USA Trucker 08-05-2010 06:00 PM

@Starflyer,
Since your post mainly ask trucking questions, and driver management, I relocated it here. I, or someone else will answer some, or all of your questions.

Starflyer 08-05-2010 09:03 PM

Sorry, I have read nearly the hole RnR-Question Forum, but I don't find an answer to my questions.

I know how to buy a truck or how to hire a driver.
And i know how to navigate through the map. In 2 weeks i never failed to find my way.

But why are 2 of my 3 drivers doing this crazy things? I've got 4 Trucks. All brandnew, fresh from the factory, with zero miles, and all fully loaded. A Argosy, a Classic, a Atlas and a Venture.
The Venture is my own Truck. And my best driver is driving the Argosy for 2250$/d with 63% loyalty and great income. And the Argosy is crap, like the Sterling 9500. His driveability is terrible.
And i have the good Classic and the wunderful Atlas. Both abolutly fully loaded. But the 2 drivers want 50% more loan, have both a bad income, high costs and low loyalty.
Why?

Cyrusx87 08-05-2010 10:48 PM

Hoy to buy a new branch or territory?

hello everyones, greetings from Chile, sorry for my bad english. This is my first topic.

Well, yesterday, I finished the story mode, and it was great, very fun.

Now, I have a problem, (I believe someone else have the same problem but he had a pirate copy of the game, I think), when I want to buy a new branch, the game send me this message:

"your turnover (daily income) allows you to contract only 14 warehouses" or something like that, which it`s mean than I can`t buy more than one branch...

What do I have to do to buy more new branches?? Can anyone explain to me please??

Please, try to don`t use many "difficult" words...

Thank you very much and sorry if the topic is post it again...

Bye!

USA Trucker 08-06-2010 12:37 AM

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

You have to buy a truck, and then hire a driver, let him/her drive around a couple of days to earn some money. When that's done you should be able to buy another office. Keep repeating the process to get more office's.

Thank you very much for the clarification...

How puts USA trucker, adding how is logical acquire truck and driver money goes down. I started session, acquiring 2 basic trucks and hiring 2 drivers, having down rest money.
How initally only can go to warehouse around of Nick trucking office and money received by travel is short. Then shall need long time making travels me and my drivers to recover money and acquire the third truck hiring new driver too!...
Except to make long travel out of Nick trucking influence zone, getting high money and recover money put on trucks and drivers more rapidly. Returning to influence zone with empty truck!...

If I understand this correctly, I'll take a shot.

When you travel outside your zone of influence with a load you obtained from within your zone of influence you will always come back empty. This holds true for your hired drivers. The programs warns you of this when you attempt to do it in your warehouse. Therefore if it happens to you, it will also happen to your drivers. When I start out with a small zone of influence I usually set the drivers to short/medium distance until I get more office's. I hope I got this right, and it helped you.:)

charlytos 08-06-2010 02:17 PM

can someone clarify if having the trucks you give to your hired drivers maxed out makes any difference to how much they earn or could you just give them base models, the reason why i ask this is because it takes a fair bit of cash to buy a truck and then max it out,now according to the planning screen in your office under the global stats section if you click on the little box in the bottom left hand corner it tells you about the california golden carrier thingy that basically says whoever signs upto all the warehouses ie gets 100% coverage you get the title and a big reward,so basically its going to take me forever to get loads of drivers to have enough turnover to get all the offices and all the other companies are way way in front, example;storm already have 25 drivers and 75% coverage so does it make any difference if your drivers have maxed out trucks or not, hope anybody reading this understands what i mean...

Yes, the better your truck is the better your drivers are. Less repairs, faster in racing, and if you have the double gas tank, naturally they'll spend less time in the gas station. Another thing to remember is that when you hire a driver, get the one with the most experience. They cost more, but the rate of return is better. Also for those of you that don't know.... It is best not to hire drivers until you complete the story line. The reason is that your rating will be very high, and you can hire even more experienced drivers. I like drivers with over 1500 experience. Don't settle for less then 1200. When I completed the story line I had a 2200+ rating. So I hired 2 drivers, both with over 1800 experience. I had 2 fully loaded trucks that I used in the story line in reserve. You can't hire drivers higher than your own rating. After that, whenever I could get my hands on a new truck I just kept adding them to my fleet, hired drivers, and expanded my office's.

I hope this clarified things for you, and others.

mark39 08-07-2010 08:44 AM

ok thx for that usa trucker will have to revise my hired drivers then, looks like some are about to be fired..lol

Starflyer 08-10-2010 08:14 AM

Maybe its the same problem like mine.

Look at their loyality when you hired them. If the bar for their loan is on auto, it could be, that their loyality is zero and they quit immediatly.
And to pay them the loan for their loyality, their income will be only 50% in course of their loan.

charlytos 08-10-2010 09:44 AM

USA trucker you have put a previous reply to mark39 putting detail to acquire double gas tank. Having made several travels I have not seen that double gas tank until now. Is possible how is with other trucks, which be truck used different items will be on different garages, is thing only to search it with great patience!...

Patrick 08-10-2010 05:14 PM

Chassis upgrade bug?

I tried to buy a chassis upgrade two times now. The titan chassis for a Hercules Atlas. But after the first time i bought it. And went to a repair shop. The chassis was gone And I could spent another 30-40g. But after the second time it was gone again + my money. huh?

Is there going to be released a DLC?

I'm terribly sorry, but your English, and statements baffle me. You really need a go-between to translate your questions. For me to address your questions properly this is a must. I find it difficult to understand your postings, and therefore have to guess at what you mean, and sometimes not answer them at all for the sake of confusion.

charlytos 08-11-2010 06:43 AM

Pardon USA trucker if you don't understand well my phrases, I put them with best English that can to use!...
Repeat the same details, that you have replied me marked how quote:
You put answer for mark39 with several details, between those details you put over to acquire double gas tank. Copy that part of your answer:

"and if you have the double gas tank, naturally they'll spend less time in the gas station."

My answer for you was the next:

I have made several travels and sttoping on several garages didn't find any double gas tank item. Is possible how is with other trucks, each truck has its items on different repair buildings where has them the other trucks. Or being russian version I didn't see that item on any repair buildings visited!...
Basically that was my answer over detail of double gas tank. I hope that you can understand it correctly now!...

Lolsmurf 08-11-2010 11:06 AM

"I think he is looking for the double gas tanks because he cant find them wit his truck, so he asks if every truck has hiw own shop for special parts or something like that
or is it just because he owns the russian version ? "

Anyway carlos I was in Cadiz a few weeks ago :p

too hot

charlytos 08-11-2010 01:42 PM

Lolsmurf, more or less that is the idea, but putting a few detail. When I put over other trucks have their items on different service buldings, I put that phrase how affirmative detail, proved by me, with default Agressor and other truck which has the ACC automatic speed on service building of start city!...
Over that you have was in Cadiz any time, I hope that you had good days visiting our small city!...

Starflyer 08-11-2010 06:58 PM

Maybe its easier to understand other languages translated into english, if your own language is not english to.

I found the double tank for every of my trucks yet, excluded the Sterling 9500 for which i doesn't found any upgrade except paintings.
But its pretty hard to find. You've got to drive around and stop by the garages on your way. Maybe drive from LA to Orland and back i always find nearly everything at this garages.
But i think its true, that every truck has its own list of possible upgrades and this lists are divided between the garages.

charlytos 08-12-2010 06:58 AM

Certain Starflyer over items for different trucks on different garages is so. I am searching the ACC item for default truck agressor and didn't find yet. Is possible shall be more to North of California game map.

USA Trucker 08-12-2010 11:39 AM

OK, let's get back on topic. I didn't mean to make this an English debate. If I have a problem with someones use of the English language, I'll just keep it to myself, and not respond.

Starflyer 08-13-2010 12:03 PM

No, i meaned the different between the teached oxford-english in not-english-speaking countries and the spoken english/american-english of the natives.

And the garages. Of course i have the wish, that there is one garage in the game, which provides all upgrades like in King of the Road.
And the Cruisecontrol for the argosy, i found mine in a garage between atascadero and kettleman city.
But, maybe the upgrades are random on the garages from game to game.
I found the DDS475 for my Atlas in Oxnard and in the next game, the engine was not their. And maybe there are several differences between the versions of the game.

USA Trucker 08-14-2010 10:39 AM

They are random each time you start the game.

nicu_n21 08-25-2010 06:50 PM

First I apologize for my bad English
Fine adjustments list to the drivers can be found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Application Data\RigNRoll_usa_ws\GameWorld\warnings "aiqualities.log"

ex: $AI0 Kevin Carter 0.302 0.748 0.144
Kevin Carter= name of driver
0.302=type of task (race or ordes)
0.748=type of cargo
0.144=distance of orders
the sliders is 0-1 from the left to right
I hope you understand

I answered that for you back at post #61 on this thread, when you asked a similar question. I gave you details that included rankings. Did you forget? ;)

As to how high they go... Who knows? I don't think there is a limit.

Not sure what you mean by the term "released". The money you see in your journal, or your office is the money you have from all branches in total, including the drivers working for you. Unless you mean the drivers that are heading to a warehouse, and have not delivered their loads yet.

Bikept 09-15-2010 06:51 PM

Hi guys,

Here's the situation:

My rank: 1853
My Rating: 96

Best driver I can get is Rank 907 with a salary of around $2.200/d.

Just finished the storyline, and have 2 Ventura fully loaded for 2 drivers. I've (re)read post 61 and followed all indications. Still most I can get is rank 907 drivers. I'm at easy difficulty setting. Can it be that the setting makes a difference?

After a question, a tip:

I've seen some posts of people complaining that they are spending around $4.000 in tyre repair. It happened to me also. Went to the repair shop and downgraded from Mag Wheels to Simple Old. Less than half repairs now.
It looks that the tyre repair value is calculated over a percentage of the wheel base value. The more expensive the wheels the more expensive the repairs. Makes sense.

Second Tip: When assigning new driver to one of the trucks, Titan Chassis turns into basic Chassis... no money back. Just used the save and went to sell the titan chassis and get the money back...

Hope to get some light ont the driver rankings...

Greetings from Portugal!

I think it's random, and I also believe the difficulty setting has a role in it also. Check daily in game time, and see if it changes. Also hire that guy/gal at 907 to free up a spot, and see if the next one is higher after a couple of days. Also open up a couple of new branch offices.

Good insight, and info. Also the way you drive plays a major role in this too. Your speed in general, the way you take a turn, and of course constant heavy braking at a high rate of speed will significantly increase tire/brake repairs. I try to use the engine brake to reduce these costs. Gentle taps on the brakes will slow you down fairly well when not use the engine brake (Jake Brake).

I just got this game today and two jobs that I was suppose to do I have been bounced on. Told me I couldn't do them when I got to where I was to go. The Oakland job bounced me and then the Greenfield job for the medications bounced me when I arrived at the warehouse. Now am I gonna be able to do any of these jobs or is the game just gonna screw me around and let me drive around till my time expires on these jobs. And yes I read the manual and that really didn't tell me much either.

This is what it tells me....."You need to establish a branch in this area in order to be ab le to take orders." Two jobs i get to cancel cause the game obviously doesn't tell me how to establish a branch.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

First off please do not double post (back-to-back postings). Use the "Edit" tab if you need to add comments to your post.

Now I'll get to your problem. Begining on page 30 in the manual explains how to open a new branch. I'll cut to the chase for you though.

1) On your map (tab key) you'll see little green hooks. This is your warehouse area of influence. You can load/unload your cargo there.

2) The white hooks are areas outside your warehouse area of influence. You can unload your cargo in these warehouses, but you can not load any cargo there. You need to purchase additional branch offices.

3) To purchase a branch office you need to go to a branch you currently own such as Nicks Trucking in Oxnard. When in your office click on the "Manage Branches" tab. Again you'll see a map of your area of influence. Click on one of the little monitors (on the map) and you'll see your area of influence expand. Then click on the "Establish New Branch" tab. Click the "Apply All" tab, and your area of influence has increased.

4) Should your purchase be denied it's usually because you don't have enough turn-over, and/or your warehouses exceeds whatever number is indicated.

5) Now you need to buy a truck, and hire a driver. This is on page 32 in the manual. You shouldn't have any trouble here.

If you're early in the game I wouldn't advise this. Your funds with repairs, gas, up-dating your truck, and possible fines will be very low. If you can't pay a fine then you are bankrupt, and the game is over.

What I, and many others do is max out your starting truck (whatever it may be). Then buy a new one. Don't sell the your old one. Instead give it to a new hired driver, and repeat the process. Usually with ever new driver you can open another new branch.

Another thing a lot of us like to do is sell the old truck right from the start, and use this money to buy a truck that you like, and max it out. You can now do as my previous paragraph stated.

Don't get frustrated. A lot of this game is sort of like "learn as you go". When you're stuck just come here. I usually don't leave any question un-answered, and there are a lot of people here willing to give their advice, or assistance. Everyone of us play this game differently, and there are no concrete, fool-proof ways to play this game as you'll soon find out.

If I missed anything, let me know. ;)

Some beginner's questions

Hello, I'm new here in the forum, first I should explain that I am from Brazil and my English is not good, so I'm using and I'll use Google to translate that hinder the understanding las.Se please tell me.

My questions are very basic to begin:

1 There is as light up the cab of the truck?

For me to buy more companies have to hire more drivers?

Many thanks to all now and congratulations for the excellent forum.

Thank you all.

DriverX3 10-09-2010 04:15 AM

I didn't understand the first question but if you turn the lights on the gauge lights will come on. Also to get more terminals you need more drivers to increase your turnover. I hope this helps you.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I just want to elaborate on DriverX3 post. I can only assume that you may mean the interior cabin overhead lights. There is no switch to turn those on. Maybe someone could make a Mod someday.

Make sure when you hire drivers, that you have a truck for them to drive, or he/she will drain your income with his/her salary.

bjorn324 11-04-2010 04:12 PM

Hello

I am busy with doing some research on my drivers. I noticed a lot of them are losing money based on the ROI display. Especially my highest ranked driver, rank: 858.
Also a lot of drivers have high forfeit costs. What does this mean, crappy trucks or lazy drivers.
