Bored with Sim combat......
....and the 300ft altitude turning furballs and high score kills? Then get your room to try sessions in cockpit view (no lame excuses here that you only fly German fighters - pick another (plenty to choose from and no cheating either)!
Its an experience worth trying.......give it a go! |
No cheating?!
I guess that rules myself and Mirgervin out then! http://img7.uploadhouse.com/fileuplo...5e23762fc0.jpg |
yeah....it's harder....but we (including Robotic Pope, SSL Squirrel and a few others) have enjoyed it even when others in the room have opted to fly in virtual....and we didn't cheat as there would be no point in trying it.....worth doing but over several sessions as you need to adapt to flying and searching inverted or continually banking for a second or so....one things for sure .....you won't fly as low or get as many kills....which is kind of refreshing in its own way!

I look forward to try a cockpit-only game as soon as I'm back online
|
cockpit view is my favorite way to fly. Its a blast.
I've always wished there was a cockpit view for the BF-109 also |
Yeah, that Yak-1M (the Yak-3, but really it's a Yak-1M codenamed "Yak-3") sure does give you a run for your money doesn't it. Sure it may seem like cheating, but it's not. It's just that good of a plane. :D

The problem with cockpit-only mode is the radar is still there. It can get comical with 2 players circling around looking for each other, except one is at 3000m and the other at ground level.
For a more realistic simulation, try cockpit only and no map! Make sure there's plenty of time though. I've never tried no-map but I've stopped using the map in training. Much better for spotting bogeys. |
cockpit view, no map/hud ( except at the very beginning like the tower giving you initial contact info ), limited fuel, and ammo.....

too bad there isnt ( well maybe there is...i have yet to play online ) for people to act in the role of ground support. they are non combatants and as such ( and only they ) can see the altitude and course of inbound boogies. they call it out to their forces in the air to get them into the battle ( Greenhouse flight we have unknown number of incoming boogies in your sector @ 3000ft bearing course 270 ). the forces in the air could get to the general area but then would have to rely on visually picking the boogies first and maybe getting the jump on them. you would have to keep your head on a swivel and likewise might be able jump someone with complete suprise. dont know if this is feasable or not....or something people would be interested in. might give a new flavor to the game....

i fly in cockpit view all the time and think there should not be the option of virtual cockpit in sim mode

If we disabled virtual cockpit nobody could fly german planes. Well a couple of moths ago when I still could play online there weren't many people using them, so maybe it's not a big deal, but still. |
hey there!!!!
i only use cockpit view as i such prefer it, cause its more realistic.the only time i fly with virtual cockpit view is, if i have to play with planes which sadly have no cockpits, like the bfs. i would avoid to fly them, but i still have planes and weapons to unlock.once i unlocked everything, im going to fly only spitfires. |
