PS3 non-slim owners beware (as of 10:15 pst 2/28)
I doubt many people will look here before trying to log in, but on the off chance, trying to start a game right now with a non-slim ps3 will almost surely give you error a message that your trophy info couldn't sync with the network, and trying to sign in will fail with error 8001050F.
This happened just about an hour ago, and the widespread panic includes stories of people's game saves and trophy data corrupted or gone forever, and even their DL'd games missing from their hard drives. You'll also notice your ps3's clock thinks it's 1999 when you first turn it on. You may want to check playstation.com forums to see info on when the problem is fixed, and avoid starting any games or signing in to PSN before then. Also might be wise to back up all your saves. They don't know what the hell caused it, yet. Maybe it's George Hotz's fault. |
I swear man if I lose my Dragon Age: Origins trophy progress I'm gonna ****ing flip out. They better have this fixed by the time BFBC2 comes out *rage*

Can't even play Bop offline atm. |
Yeah, none of my games work. Tried out Demon's Souls, was working for a bit. Then bugged out on me, and nothing works. I lose trophy info, so I'm not even touching my Sturmovik disc until this matter is resolved.
Oh, hell. I have a 60GB PS3. If I lose my baby, I'm going to have to trade my Playstation for my Mosin-Nagant. Let's hope they come out with a fix for this. 360 users, thank you in advance for being kind, nice, and not inciting a flame war. Although, I guess this does give me a chance to go beef up my unlock arsenal on my 360 copy of Sturmovik... I can't even play my downloaded games, like Pain, Burnout, and the like. Boy this sucks. |
It's supposedly affecting offline fat PS3's too.. This is quite a big **** up I think :)

I found this post on PSN-forum:
'Everyone READ THIS PLEASE. Here's what's going on right now: something with the PS3's internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3's clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time. Does this affect me? -If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal. -If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged. What does this bug mean? -If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync. How do I fix it? -You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue. So, what do I do? -Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 8pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe. -If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now. Did I lose my data/themes/etc? Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now. If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it? It's probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine. So there ya go, my handy FAQ.' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by chubigans : Today at 03:58 AM. |

If that's the case then we're all going to have to wait for a software update. |

I didnt know this bullshit was going on so when i turned on my 69gb ps3 and then went to make a coffee when i got back the fat bastard had started system restore i tried to cancell it but it said i had to format my hard disc first so it could restart. words can not describe how ******* annoyed i am right now and how many hours of my life have just been lost in this short space of time.

yeah good idea and then dont turn it back on i only left mine for about 30 mins
|
I've just been going through some of my older games (pre trophy). They work ok.
Tiger woods 09, COD 4 both work fine. It's a trophy problem I reckon. |
Well as of 15:40 gmt there's still no update on the psn since 10:25 this morning that's states there's an issue. I've still got my older trophys too but none of my newer games incl BoP. Dam you Sony I blow my nose in your general direction...
|
I'm suddenly glad I had almost no time to turn on my ps3 recently. You have my true sympathy guys, I'm not really into trophies but I can imagine how bad it feels to lose all your hard earned achievements.
Have you guys noticed that the official playstation community is having problems too? Maybe it's just a coincidence. |
mine just blew up
on a more serious note it happend to me too it says its the 31st of the 12 1999 ps2s wernt around then even |
This really sucks. 11:11 A.M. here in the U.S. and still no fix. Battlefield coming out tomorrow.....aahh well.
|
Now it seems dev consoles are having problems as well....its the end of the ps3.....:-P

i want a free xbox now as compensation:D |
I've heard you can bypass the trophy sync by creating a new account, since it won't have any trophy info from before the timer crash. I have a European sub-account, I would try deleting the save data from it and signing in, if I didn't consider turning on my ps3 to be too perilous
Sony officially says saves and trophy data should be "fine" but apparently not for some people. |
they say it will be fixed in 24 hours
|
ive got this problem too YET all my games work fine an all trophys are visible BUT its only heavy rain that wont work an all my trophys for that have gone, ive put way too much time into that game for nothing..tried loading it on other profiles and nothing, tried gettin rid of all files to do with heavy rain and nothing,at least i can still play god of war collection
|
i cant play sturmovik the only game i can play is the cod5 demo i downloaded
|
Sony are clearly just waiting to see if this fixes itself on the date change, which I think I would prefer over a rushed patch that causes more problems. I hope someone is getting hit with a big stick over this in Japan...
|
people have been soo addicted to computers that this might happen
right then mr presedent of sony you have caused the world so many problems with the ps3 date time whatever issue that the following countries have declaired war on japan usa europe and china with more coming through |

|
LMAO!!! With my fingers crossed.
|
I was reading threw the NeoGAF thread about this issue and I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while. Some funny stuff said there, especially with Sony's "It only does....." slogan :-P
|
OMG, I hope my PS3, none slim type but late model with only 2 USB ports, is safe.
I played BoP late sunday night (GMT+1) without problems. I luckily have the network login as optional and not default, so I hope todays use of it havent caused any problems. Still, I am kinda nervous to get home to check but wont do so until I know its declared all safe from Sony............ |
my ps3 lives again
|
yep... mine too.
:) |
really
how?
|
Gordons ALIVE?! My ps3 lives!!! and my trophys... And my B17... and relax. Here's hoping everyone else is back up soon.

I read about the shift to April thing in an AP article. It said to test the ps3 "safely" turn it on, resync the time manually if the screen is green, and if there's trophies missing, resync the trophies.
Didn't work. All my BOP trophies are gone. How many hours did that take... forever, it took. I wish I had waited to resync them. Sony hasn't given the all-clear just yet, let alone say what the hell they're gonna do about all the lost data. Hate to say this but I won't be playing BOP until I figure out how I'm gonna get my trophies back. Especially since most of them are one-time only things and there's no way to repeat them. Pissed, very pissed right now. |

USA is also going to have to invade Canada because of their damn hockey team. But Japan has even less of an army than Canada, so it won't be very hard to defeat at the same time. If invasion is what it will take to get my trophies back, well, honor demands it. I'm not going all the way back to training just to get the trophies for completing training. If Mr Kutaragi can't fix my trophies there will be ww2 planes bombing Sony headquarters and shooting down all his Zeros and he will have to commit seppuku |
Its the Millennium bug!! Its finally here!
|
trophies recovered - invasion of Japan canceled.
Fortunately for Japan the advice of some random shmuck on the internet actually worked. If your trophies disappeared from trying to start a game before, now what you must do is sign in, start the game, quit and then resync. Hell, let's invade Japan anyway |
Huh. Wafflebot is alive again. This...is good news. Means I can finally drop Divinity II on my 360. Game is a real gem, it is. Big block of cubic zirconium.
