Results of my poll will result in a deathmatch!!!
This thread explains the Deathmatch rules. Read through it and feel free to join in the fun!!!!! The more pilots the better.
|
This is what I envision. Maximum of 7 plane dogfights with me as host and monitor in an plane with no gunner (I'll have to think about that) except my heat. Eight planes is all I feel comfortable with to avoid the lagging problem. I don't need any more anyway. I will have heats involving 1 each of the top fighter aircraft in the game. I want at least 5 pilots for each plane type. More is no problem! The pilots in the heat are not in competition with one another. They are in competition with the pilots of their planes in the other heats. Say I have five or six heats (which WILL happen). The top three pilots by score of the six heats of their respective aircraft move to semifinals. The top pilot of the three heats will fly the plane in the deathmatch. Pilots choose their plane and only fly that plane.
Example" Heat 1 Heat2 Heat3 Heat 4 Heat5 Heat6 Spit pilot 26 45 51 32 66 12 The Spit pilots of heats 2, 3, and 5 will move on. so forth with all the other types. I am thinking of replacing the LA7 with the YAK3 or just adding the Yak3, depending on pilot input. If there are more than six pilots, and there is definately going to be in Spits, I will have heats of just that aircraft and the top six in score will pilot that aircraft in the competition. Rules: One 20 minute dogfight in prelims to find pilots. The opening six heats are also one 20 min round. This is a deathmatch. Bring your best game or die. Losers are DEAD and cannot continue. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! A tie will broken by deaths. Least deaths wins. If deaths are identical, we will go to a landing competition on a 20 min CTA match. I will monitor landings in a PO2. The final deathmatch will be a 30 min frenzy. Pilots not showing up forfeit. That's it. If you crash you crash. There is absolutely no way to determine an intentional crash. Besides, until the deathmatch final, deaths may just count against you. An opponent crashing and the attacker not getting credit happens all the time to all of us. It is part of the game and is fair play. Collisions? Oh well. I don't see how this tactic can win anyway. Everbody I fly against NEVER collides intentially. Basically boys, get in their and maximize the points any way the game allows. If you think rockets and bombs can win it for you, bring 'em along! No whining will be listened to, only ignored. I get my ass kicked regularly and don't whine about it. No shame in losing to better pilots. The thing for me is THE FUN OF IT and keeping it simple and not taking weeks. A couple of 3 hour events should do it. Maybe less depending on number of pilots. We all have bad games and good games. Just hope some luck comes your way and a pilot in another heat has a worse game. Luck is part of it, just as in real life combat. The goal is to crown which plane is the best fighter in BOP in sim mode (excluding I153/16). This will be determined by the best pilots flying that plane against the others. If you don't like the rules, please don't join and make the rest of us miserable. This setup is quick, down and dirty. It promotes ruthlessness, desperation, nerves of steel, skill, and cold blooded murder. Maximizing points is the only way to play. |
Getting the most kills is gonna pretty much rule out victory for the la5, la7 and hurricane. It'll be between the 109g6's, 109k4's and spitfires.
I don't really like free-for-all mode much but what the hell, I'll commit a few murders with a g6. Especially if it makes people show up to this forum which will help in forming teams for the ladder. |
Thanks Kozzm0. Your backing is really appreciated! If I can't get the best boys, it ain't worth it. I have most of my guys on nights here in USA in as well.
We play all night as it is and Europe comes on anywhere past 2am central here, so we may as well have some fun. Pass the word around and see what we can get. 36 pilots, 6 in each aircraft, would be perfect. Are you sure the 109's will win? There are only two against four. I've seen some guys in the LA'a and Spits just make us look dumb! I wouldn't bet on it. Besides, getting killed 15 to 20 times is gonna dent your score, and you know its gonna happen. The 109 pilot will have to dogfight. running and gunning will not work very well. I'll keep pounding the pavement and see what happens. |
Need pilots fellas. Help me out. Spread the word. 36 would be awesome, but it will work out with 30. I will put a list of the pilots here soon. Just reply here and pick your plane. It will work well on a weekend. About 2 three to four hour sessions will do it. You won't have to be online till your heat, which I will schedule in advance. I have pilots from UK, USA, Canada, Germany, and one from Hawaii so far. Spread the word to your flying buddies please. I can't contact them all myself. I don't know them all. USA afternoon, EU evening times. No problem at all everybody being able to make it. I'll schedule it after I get the pilots.
Send me a msg on the PS3 to: "lost_cause64" along with you country and plane type you wish to fly. LA5, LA7, Spit IX, Yak3, 109k4, 109g6, Hurricaine. Sim mode. |
I'm getting a little tired of Dogfight tbh. It seems that's all people want to play these days.
If you don't have to visually ID your target to prevent FF, then you don't have to be able to manoeuvre close enough to get on their six. So why fly anything but a G6 or a K4? |
Maybe, maybe not. Join up for the opportunity to prove your point. Don't forget you will have to beat out at least five other 109 pilots, two of them twice, to make it to the deathmatch.

ok im in
|
Yessss!! I am adding more info. From the responses I have so far, 20 pilots for sure, more on the bubble and still recruiting, it is obvious the Hurricaine and Yak3 are getting under estimated and thus are not getting fairly represented. Can't have that happen. If the situation continues, I am taking volunteers to fly these machines as a secondary plane in the competition. Good pilots please! Not in the same heat, of course!! In the unlikely event that the pilot makes it into the deathmatch final with both aircraft, he will choose which plane he will fly. The one he does not pick will go to the 2nd place finisher. Come on boys!!!! Join up!!!!

Sounds great!
Im in, and will gladly represent the Spitfire MkIX. If you want volunteers for the hurricane and Yak, i would be happy to stick my hand up for it. i wouldn't mind ;) i will need practice in them though as i haven't been on in a while but Even if i do rubbish in them, it's still fun right |
Too bad I still don't have this game.

I have 36 pilots enlisted so far. I am still recruiting and ANYONE wishing to be involved is welcome!! Sign up will end this Saturday the 13th. I will begin contacting pilots Sunday to establish their final plane selection and their availability for the deathmatch tournament which will be held NEXT weekend the 20th and 21st.
Pilot are responding from all over PS3 land. Ireland,France, Germany, Spain, Italy, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, even one from Hawaii! My hat is off to these gentlemen! Brave souls who are going to give it their all come glory or death!!! Unlike a few others who seem to be afraid to tarnish their records. You know who you are!! Shame!!! Here are the heroes so far: lost_cause64 AR_kozz Bunny287 cep34 skeii Killerhawk79 Dinho28 haitch40 marty09123 Chareltje Mirgirvin watermanr7 xXWhiteRhinoXx winny1973 olife jig7709 Spitfire23 gordonvembu firepilote varcus2 Cleaver1 reaper1526 scortgt SNOWOLF krsanac Reknad CMTE_Vinny SINNSR tagemandbagem McKinneyJD DocGonzo R3CKONING FORCE codefinder74 xXsilenceXx W_REDMAN edal86 I will update this list as more pilots enlist. I am not showing plane selection so as not to influence a pilots choice. I don't need to know till this Sunday. Remember I am looking for volunteer pilots to fly the under represented planes as a secondary mount. Spitfire 23 has volunteered. I will need some more but will not know how many for sure till this Sunday. I will open an official Deathmatch thread on Sunday. In the meantime I will keep this thread going. Keep practising!!!! |
ok then I will fly a yak-3 also.
I'd wager a few bucks tagem would also use yak-3. I figured out from him it's the plane nobody notices in a free-for-all. To bad its cannon can't hit an elephant from 20 feet. |
Hahahahaha! I've been trying to fly that damn yak all week! Me and it just don't get along. I can't shoot down a PO2 with it! Maybe someone else can. You are volunteering to fly this as your secondary plane, correct kozz?
|
Several pilots are requesting to fly other models of the 109 and Spit. If you think they are the best and you can fly it well, be my guest. Getting to the final will be tough no matter what you fly.
|
Hmm, seems I've missed the deadline by about 15 minutes :-P Mind if I play, I just got you're PM. I'll do my best to be there, but given this is my first year of university, I've got quite a bit of other things on my mind. (God damn you 10 page report )
Probably would like to fly a 109 :) |
No problem silence!!! I've been looking for you and gave up. I'm very pleased you've answered the call. You're in!!!!! I need to know your availability ASAP. I must have it by Wednesday. no later. 109? what model.

As for plane, my favourite model is the G6 or K4, but I'll fly whatever you need me to. |
