lol.

dkwookie 01-13-2010 04:52 PM

Normally I would say Spit but the other night we had a P51 v 109 match and I ended up in the 109 G6.

Its not that great to fly but when you open up with the guns its like the whole front of the plane errupts bullets. Instant death for anyone in front of you. I will have to take that for a spin again sometime

lost cause 01-13-2010 11:48 PM

K-4, Stuka, P47, Yak3, A20, LA5. Can't decide. Love em all. The K-4 is badass also wookie.

Robotic Pope 01-14-2010 12:16 AM

My favs change all the time, but at the moment my favourite plane to fly is (don't laugh) the Po-2. That thing can land anywhere, take off from stand still in about 5 metres and turn like a fly. It can hang in the air almost stationary without stalling, me and Star Foz even took it up to over 20,000ft (God knows how the pilot and gunner were still breathing).
Yes its oh so slow, but take it right down low in the streets of berlin flying 100mph, twisting between the buildings, the feeling is awesome. nothing else can do that.

Of course I wouldn't take it anywhere near a dogfight. Thats what my Hurricane is for ;)

Shadowcorp 01-14-2010 01:47 AM

The plane I love to fly is a hurricane. but the most fun to fly.... thats tricky i'm torn between the stuka (for comical reasons) and La7 because it's a very nice plane to fly.

condorz38 01-14-2010 05:39 AM

BF 109 G-6, rolls, turns if you work at it, and man can it ever fly down low and fast. 500 mph at treetop level is a great rush. I cannot fly any other plane that well down low.

The "sprinkles" of the spit will be the debris thats falling from the sky after my hurricane has shot it down :D

haha. Good times.

Vulcan607 01-15-2010 05:04 PM

surely they should be the tattered, smouldering remains of wood and fabric.

Good film, they had to draw wings of hurricanes on clear film and put it over the lenses. Thats why the ones in the back ground move in relation with the camera.
Wonder why theres a shortage of Hurricanes?
Must have been due to them falling out the sky.

If your playing on authentic then the film really isnt.... lol.

None of the 109's were actually 109's, same as the HE111's, and the shitfires... all later models!! ONLY the hurricanes were the real deal :P

And their were more spits because they are easy to make, not much skill involved :P the hurricane on the other hand is a piece of art.

You fan boys never will understand hahaha.

Vulcan607 01-15-2010 06:17 PM

late models mean they were good enough to stay in production as oposed to being scrapped, foolish hurricane fan boys.

gbtstr 01-15-2010 06:51 PM

P-47D. When you actually get an air-to-air kill, think of how bad that Spitfire/Hurricane/La/109 pilot feels to have just been shot down by you, flying one of the worst performing planes in the game. If it flew like it was supposed to, they could feel ok being shot down by a world-class boom 'n zoom fighter. But as it stands, they just got shot down by a flying brick.

Soviet Ace 01-15-2010 07:09 PM

Since when was my Soviet cake, being decorated with disgusting Hurricane and Spitfire pieces? I thought it would be sprinkled with some good ol' Red Stars, and Hammer n' Sickle. :P

The Hurricane stayed in production long after the battle of Britain ;) was far more versatile than the shitfire to :D

We only needed one type of fighter after the Battle of Britain, so we let the Shitfire have its day, the mighty Hurricane was needed elsewhere for more important duties, doing things the Shitfire wasn't capable of ;)

No idea why anyone likes the Shitfire really.... thing is realy ******* ugly (fugly) haha. Tiny little thing.

In all seriousness though....

After 1940-41 the Shitfire was the best dogfighter in the air. Did the job and did it well. And the Griffon engine sounds damn nice. If it aint broke..why fix it!

Doktorwzzerd 01-15-2010 10:12 PM

I have a lot of fun in the 109G-2; great power, climbing, diving, turning and centrally mounted armament makes for dogfighting joy. Also I'm not the world's most skilled pilot so the 109's stability makes them a natural choice for my skill level. The later 109 makes are heavier and not as good turners, but the earlier ones aren't as fast, so I go with the G-2. I just wish we had the damned cockpits!

haitch40 01-16-2010 09:36 AM

ok foz and vulcan to settle your dispute
i think both the hurri and the spit were alright looking not ugly but not too great eather
if you want beautiful planes look at the pacific war

Some beautiful planes are in the pacific. The title still goes to the hurricane for me. But in the pacific.... i like the SBD dauntless dive bomber. Just looks mean!!

The kittyhawk (warhawk) is a nice looking plane, but i saved that one for the african theatre, Thats where i'd chose it as the best looking plane.....

second to the hurricane :D

All im hearing is that the war hawk isnt as nice as the hurricane and therefore no where near as good as a Spitfire.

Well, Russia actually did use more Spitfires around Archangel etc. while guarding your supply ships to the Soviet Union; but you guys did fly your Hurricat's off some of the guarding ships to aid your supply convoys, but in combat the Spitfire was the main Soviet/British plane used on the Eastern Front. :P Sorry Foz, the Hurricane just didn't have what it took. :P Now the Yak-3 had what it took twice over. :D

Long answer: my favorite plane depends on what I'm using it for.

killing bombers: 109k4 (others too slow)

being bombers: il-2 or stuka

escorting bombers: la7

pitched furball: 109g6. No need for great turns, just kills targets quick.

1 on 1 dogfight: la5

running dogfight: la7

Short answer: I hadn't used the la5 for a while, used one again today, reminded me how much I love it's 3-d agility. There's nothing like making 2 online opponents overshoot at once.

I would also use the yak-3 in BOP but there's this little problem where all the planes have this amazing, infallible RADAR so sneaking around with a little plane doesn't do much good.

What if they erased the enemy dots from the map screen online

I guess you are a fan of the 30mm "God Cannon" . lol

Really? Me262 too slow??? If I see someone (or a squirrel) choosing to fly the B-17 in a dogfight , I go straight for my 262. B-17 doesn't have a chance against its 4 cannons. I ignore the fighters and just pwn the big Bomber. Its a lot of fun and usually wins me the match too

For prop only , I think the Fw190 are better than the 109K for killing bombers, thanks to its ability to dive very fast.
