Is the Aviator control layout available on the 360?

If it is, I can't find it anywhere!

If it isn't, no wonder you guys are so pissed about the patch...

It is certainly not available, it's part of the long-awaited patch noone seems to have news about...
*fingers crossed*

No but would some kindly ps3 user please post the layout. The xbox only lets you have when you have the stick plugged in and it doesnt tell you the changes.

I don't know how it applies to a flight stick, but the aviator layout for gamepad is:

Left stick: pitch and roll as normal
Right stick: Free look

L3 (i.e. click left stick): flaps
R3: cycle camera

L1/R1: rudder
L2/R2 (i.e. bumpers): throttle

Circle: guns
Triangle: rockets
Square: bombs (may have bombs and rockets wrong way round)
X: Trim OR Target select/view kind of (only seems to work once i.e. can't cycle)

Select: under carriage
Start: map
Start then Select: in-game menu

whats trim?

InfiniteStates 01-05-2010 03:33 PM

Oh, sorry - trim is X as well. Obviously the it's mutually exclusive with what I have listed. I'll edit the post...

Pushing in the right stick to look doesn't really bother me now, its quite easy for me. I prefer it to not having full contol of the throttle. having only 0%,55% or WEP wouldn't work for me.

Thats what the aviator setup on PS3 does if you use it with a joypad. No buttons pressed = 55% throttle. L2 pressed = 0% , R2 pressed = WEP.

Its 'cos that setup is ment to be used with the stick not the pad, which uses those 2 buttons for the throtle but unlike the pad bumpers of course you dont have to hold it down.

Can you even hold the L2 and R2 buttons on the PS3 pad, like halfway R2 to 75%throttle?

It would be very tiring and unsuitable for formation flying thats for sure.

Yeah you can do that, but maintaining a constant throttle in the heat of battle is pretty impractical - for me at least. Having said that, it does feel pretty good: Although I'm not turning at optimal rates - it does play well.

It just means I get owned by guys that can use optimal corner velocities.
