'I Flew for the Fuhrer' movie
Very impressive movie biltongbru. When I read Heinz Knoke's book "I Flew for the Fuhrer' I was very impressed by his writing, describing what happened from a German pilot's point of view, very openly and frankly.
He was a warrior, fighting for Germany at a desperate time. The English Battle of Britain pilots were doing just the same thing, desperately defending England during the Battle of Britain - 'War is really Hell' with the politicians pushing their young fighting men into battle, no matter what side they are on. I have provided a link to my my 42 mission campaign on Mission4Today, 'I Flew for the Fuhrer' which faithfully follows Heinz Knoke's memoirs. To date I have had over 6,000 downloads. The campaign is crafted in version 4.08, though I am sure it would work ok in version 4.09 - let me know if you are having any problems. DFLion http://mission4today.com/index.php?n...etails&id=2232 |

Thanks for the link! I will definitely get it downloaded and try it out! Are you aware of the "Heinz Knoke website" by Franck Ruffino? It has super detail of all his victories but the main site got unavailable: the victories part is still available: http://franckruffino.chez.com/My-Site/The_victories.htm You can click on any victory link and it opens a page of the research results of that event...very comprehensive. |
Really impressive work!!!
I read that book way back when (when I was 13 or so). It was great reading as I remember it ;) /Mazex |
Es ist mir noch nie passiert, dass ich beim Ansehen eines Filmes aus der Community eine Gänsehaut bekommen habe. Bei diesem Film war es soweit.
Absolutely stunning! Thank you very much for sharing! |
Exellent Movie!!

Great movies!
Book must be good, detailed description of the action. Dropping bombs on bomber formation is totally new for me! Was it with time detonator? |
Really great work!!!
thx a lot for sharing.... |
Great job!
The voice over job is nicely done and the video editing has a nice tight flow as well. What's the tecnique used to achieve this? |
Thanks all for the complements!

Painstaking at the least! and regardless the multiple encodings and effects you retained nice colors as well!
You worked the whole project on PC or used Avid and stuff of the sort? Are you planing a longer feature? |
Even though this is the best IL2 movie I've seen, I can't help commenting on the mountains in the background that looks like Arizona or something. If the map sector Dora Dora is over the North Sea (Helgoland) the base they flew from must have been in north west germany considering the short range of the 109... North west germany is flat so it is an immersion minus for me at least. Living in southern Sweden that looks like northern germany, I would love to have a sky line like that, but sorry it's just a flat horizon... ;)
Other than that - amazing work! |

Wow, a technical tour de force, I've no idea how you made that, and it looks great.
One small criticism: the voice over. Yes, it's lovely clear diction, yes it's an accent, yes the correct linguistic idosyncracies are used. How ever, the guy sounds like "cozy uncle Otto about to read bed time stories", a kind of Christmas Arnie. He just doesn't sound like a 23 year old blood thirsty killer, or even a 70 year old remembering what it was like to be a 23 year old killer. But that's just me :) A fantastic film. |

Artist's performance is actually quite vibrant and never over the top .. he remains in character all the way and you know ... actually he sounds like a very nice guy to me ... :) |
Fantastic work!

All done on PC, used Sony Vegas film editor and actors filmed with Sony HD cam. Used the usual fraps for IL2 image capture and Wonder touch particle software for special effects like flames and explosions. Next movie will be on Thomas "Pat" Pattle, Top Allied fighter ace who flew Gladiators and Hurricanes during Africa/Greece campaigns. Will be a much longer documentary and will try to have a bash at TV screening. |
