So while it's not exactly a Second World War plane, how awesome would it be to fly the Tu-95 Bear?

Though it would be kinda cheap because it'd be the only plane in the entire game, nuclear capable. :P

Well it was built to be a polar crossing, nuclear capable strategic bomber. So if it doesn't have a nuke or two, then...... No it shouldn't. :P

definately Not the only one here ;)

But imagine seeing that tu-95 online, i wouldnt wanna go anywhere near it, though it wont put up much of a fight from a fighter, but the look of it alone is enough to scare me off

If it's anything like MW2's, I don't think strike matches will be lasting very long. XD

Wissam24 12-14-2009 03:28 AM

And Ospreys

kozzm0 12-14-2009 06:45 AM

And helicopters! Give us apaches and mi-24's for strike mode.

I found a Russian Ka-50 simulator yesterday, though I haven't managed to download it cause they want rubles and all I've got is dollars. A ka-50 could even do dogfight mode. sort of.

that one from transformers :D if i cant get him for one reson or another then i'll take a MW2 pavelow!! them things seem to pack a punch haha.

xX-SiLeNcE-Xx 12-14-2009 07:07 AM

Ok, the only thing you guys seem to be missing is the B2. Now that would dominate strike. XD

STINGERSIX78 12-14-2009 07:09 AM

i take a Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger. open my hatch and shout: LEAVE ME ALONE !!
P51 BASTARDS !!! shhh, shhhhh !!! go away.

wouldnt be that good as british bombers post ww2 werent fitted with guns unlike the USSR's Bears etc And US B-52s
Good aircraft though

Wissam24 12-14-2009 03:07 PM

Does the B-52 have guns?

And what's more, the Vulcan is a lot more maneuverable than those planes.

well what is it? a big triangle with jets on the back, a space in the middle for bombs and a verticle to keep it from spinning lol

your dad flew em? cool

Wissam24 12-14-2009 03:54 PM

Awesome, they're fantastic planes. I hope to go to an airshow where it'll be flying at some point next year.

Yeah he was on standby for the Falklands, but never flew out there.

However, my brother's god-father flew chinooks at the time and was co-pilot taking a special forces team through the mountains at low altitude. But because there's no visual reference for scale, they all just watched this mountain in front of them getting closer. Then they flew straight into it as they had no idea how close it was.

The pilot was killed and my dad's friend was seriously injured, including losing a leg. The only reason they survived is because the guys in the back were obviously trained in surviving in extreme conditions.

It was harsh at the time, but he can laugh about it now. We were in Cyprus recently for my bro's wedding, and we joked he could put tomato ketchup on his stump and come hopping out of the sea yelling "shark!". But then we thought that permanently traumatising little children for lols probably wasn't a great idea :)

I believe somewhere between the B-52D-H models, which were equipped with guns. In the tail.

Oh, I was just trying to find some way to attach the two. Hm, I guess I should call the expert of getting things into the bug, Mr. Bean, along with the expert of getting things that were never meant to be connected - connected, Red Green. Maybe they could get it done, probably with duct tape. (If you get the last joke, you may be more Canadian than you realize)

I rode one of those when I was fighting wildfires in 1994, at Tyee Creek in Washington state, a big 250,000 acre fire way up in the mountains. Big fat loud thing. Glad it didn't crash into anything. Much louder than the little choppers were.

Wow. Big fire

Yeah they're designed for carrying tanks etc. Or huge buckets of water ;)

They do look badass though...check out this documentary for some great cinematography of them. BTW, the guy I mentioned knows the dudes in this documentary.

(giant picture not copied)

And the Su-25 to balance out the a-10. It's not as heavily armed but it's a bit more agile. There's some great in-cockpit combat video of them in the recent Russo-Georgian war:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXcN25Imxm4

The computer voice reminds me of realistic mode, it keeps saying "maximum angle of attack" and "danger (low) altitude" over and over again, the pilot clearly ignoring it...

Doesn't mean 250,000 all at once, it counts the "black" as well as the fire itself. But it was the biggest that year... big fires like that crop up every few years in the US, mainly because of the lame-brained policy of putting out wildfires at all.

The ch-47's didn't do bucket drops, they used skycranes for that. Sikorskiys I think. What the chinooks did was drop us off in a big flat field they somehow found in the mountains, and then they dropped off MRE's there. I didn't like them. I got a sense like they were a death trap.

To fly a bear?? The best bomber to fly would no doubt be the B1 going speeds upwards of mach 2 at 500 feet with it's terrain following radar...

No B-1 Lancer could go mach 2 that low. The B1-B is faster at low altitude than the original B-1 would have been had it not been canned. And the B1-B can't hit even mach 1 that low.

I doubt any plane could go much faster than that at low altitude.

I didn't say the B1-B, I said the original B-1A that had variable air intakes that inabled it to go to Mach 2 at high altitude. I don't know the full story but it was canceled while in the prototype stage. Then years later the B1 programe was relaunched and the result was the B1-B, which sacrificed the ability to go mach 2 for stealth traits like fixed and patialy hidden engine intakes (which slows top speed to just over mach 1) and radar absobing paint.

So upwards of mach 2 was a bit of a stretch... he says up to mach 1.35 but at low altitudes only for short sprints cause at that speed it would use up all the gas in less than an hour... still, the B-1's low level cruising speeds are much faster than fighters, around mach .95, fighters couldn't sustain that rate of fuel consumption so they cruise 100 knots slower at low altitudes...

Still, my point holds that flying a B1 at 500 ft at those speeds would be the best experience for a bomber pilot..

lol your fix might be more acurate too, seems the B1-B's are starting to fall apart.

I'd take a Tornado GR.4 over the B1-B for low level interdiction, their speeds are comparable. No doubt Soviet Ace will take the Tu-160. Now thats a Mach 2 bomber!!

I just love it when people can know what I'd like. :D It may not be the best looking Mach 2 bomber, but just look at it's..... I dunno. From what I've read, they're supposed to hold up much better than the B1 due to structural redesigning on the earlier ones?

Wissam24 12-18-2009 09:58 PM

It was also the first bomber with control columns as opposed to the normal steering wheel affairs
