Latest ATI drivers
I'm running the latest ATI drivers 9.11 and if I run the game in OpenGL the menu windows are unreadable. If I switch to DirectX everything runs fine. I recently switched over to Windows 7 from XP MCE SP/3 and the issue also existed with XP. The issue however did not occur when using the 9.10 drivers. Anyone else having this issue?

Yeah, you're not alone. I'm running Win 7 too and my 4890 is using 9.10s rather than the new offering. I don't care to use DirectX so I'm hoping ATI get their act together soon. B |
I have that issue since minimum 9.4.....
Was doing it with vistal also.... Don't think ATi will correct that.... |
Check this thread http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...?t=9067&page=4
Hopefully it'll help you out until it's fixed |

Weird. On my end it fixed the corruption and the leak.
I'm on Win 7 though 64 bit. Could be a difference. |

I experienced the blue flashing etc with 9.11's the text is garbled and so forth. For me the text clears when flying, as offline you only get to this "garble mode" when game starts to load environment etc. Joining online games is impossible as the environment is loaded before the briefing thus you can not see your mouse or icons or anything..and you need to get into game to get rid of the blocky text. I fiddled with my conf.ini and got away with ALL the artifacts in graphics EXCEPT the blocky text. Take a look, makes you think what the game REALLY needs to look good and run ;) I am under OGL mode with ATI 5870..Win7 etc. [Render_OpenGL] TexQual=3 TexMipFilter=3 TexCompress=0 TexFlags.UseDither=0 TexFlags.UseAlpha=0 TexFlags.UseIndex=0 TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0 TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0 TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=0 TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=0 TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0 TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1 TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1 TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=0 TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0 TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0 TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=0 TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=0 TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=0 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=0 TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0 TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=0 TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=0 HardwareShaders=1 Shadows=2 Specular=2 SpecularLight=2 DiffuseLight=2 DynamicalLights=1 MeshDetail=2 VisibilityDistance=3 Sky=2 Forest=1 LandShading=3 LandDetails=2 LandGeom=3 TexLarge=1 TexLandQual=3 TexLandLarge=1 VideoSetupId=17 Water=0 Effects=1 ForceShaders1x=0 PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15 PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0 |
ok so ATI 9.12 is out. Will test it. hope it wokrs better this time
|
I had no luck with the 9.12's
Perfect still results in garbage at least with Windows 7 anyways. Tried Catalyst AI disabled, standard, advanced and many other options on and off. Same result every time. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer unless someone figured out why it's doing this :P. (on perfect anyway) |

I did notice in the Release notes for 9.12, that they claim to have resolved another issue with IL2 Forgotten Battles - so they are actually acknowledging the game's existence. I urge everyone who is experiencing this issue to send a report to the Catalyst feedback crew , with a screenshot if possible. They'll only fix it if they know about it. 9.12 fix the memory leak. Text corruption goes away for me now about 10 seconds or so after starting a track an all is normal. Slight performance decrease, about 2 fps avg in Black Death Track. |
there is an hotfix for the 9.12, it says : fix flikering on opengl games.... maybe it will make it for il2 !!!!

but with it it's ok, but I've still the missing/flickering debrief..... :( |
S!
9.12 did not fix anything. Still got garbled text and flashing textures etc. in game. This is only when using Perfect setting in OpenGL. With Excellent all is normal. So I did a new install of IL2 with bells and whistles on a fresh install of Win7 64-bit, dropped the atioglxx.dll from 9.10 to IL2 folder and game works rock solid. With VSync on average FPS counter in The Black Death is 54-55FPS so not bad. Maybe we could wish for some dll's that support ATI better ;) Otherwise IL2 still goes on strong as most of hardware, even older ones, run it very well :) |
New DLL's
S!
I fiddled with various dll's that are floating around. With the 4.09beta dll's the textures flickered, but with Catalyst AI on Standard all looks normal, so something has changed there. Before if enabling Catalyst AI you got funny looking water and stutter. A small side effect with the beta DLL's is that the shoreline is darker and shows thru fog, but if you can live with that then it is OK. But back to original topic. Would there be any chance at all that Team Daidalos or Oleg's team could release a set of DLL's that would give better support for ATI? ATI is releasing 7th of january their Catalyst 10.1 drivers with FULL OpenGL 3.2 support so if IL-2 could get a set of new DLL's we ATI users could also enjoy. Please? And mind you, IL-2 is the ONLY game I have on my HDD that gives trouble with ATI. I can put Aces High 2 on full settings without a glitch, same applies to EVE Online and Rise Of Flight. So a humble please for some support? Happy holidays to all :) |
@ Flanker
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=7705 Its the same for Nvida too Concentric rings http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...imearings1.jpg ATI & Nvidia have suffered with driver and hardware updates. IL2 1946 needs a graphics dll update to remove the water ring on Nv cards in perfect mode and to fix the ATI purple trextures and general corruption. You gave to be careful though as some of these glitches on ATI are purely driver related. |
S!
I have now the 409beta dll's dated 25.01.2008. With them I got flickering textures, but when enabling Catalyst AI to Standard = vanished. Only thing is that the shoreline went darker with these DLL's and sometimes "stick out" thru fog at distance. Another funny thing I noticed is that on Kuban map flying above Novoryssiysk when Forest=2 I get considerable drop in FPS but if I have Forest=3 there is no FPS drop at all. Strange if you ask me. I have VSync on and with Forest=3 I get 60FPS, with Forest=2 it goes down to 25-30FPS. I won't buy a nVidia card just to get IL-2 running because all other games run just fine. So as Alpha said, a set of DLL's would be nice at some point and VERY much appreciated :) Until then I use Catalyst 9.12 Hotfix for other games and dropped the atioglxx.dll from 9.10's to IL-2 folder. Works fine :) Hopes are in 10.1's... |
Yep me too. Too bad, I was hopin with my 5870 card all should be better. I have a 24" monitor.

S!
SteelDelete, I replied to JG6 Express in his thread on ATI. Take a look there :) I ran WoP demo today without ANY fiddling at all. Everything worked, no stutter or slow downs. I wish IL2 could get some of this new code to make it smoother :D |
