I just ordered the Thrusmaster Hotas from Amazon for $30. I can't hardly go wrong at that price. It's supported by the upgrade and is the choice of this forum, at least prior to the update. I'm a little concerned about quality but it looks and sounds better (to at least several guys on this forum) than the Aviator. I like it cause it has a seperate throttle stick with the rudder inputs on front of the throttle to work with the fingers. It looks like you never take your hands off the sticks in combat. Hell, it's cheaper than a Sony controller! Looking forward to it!!

HANDS F***IN DOWN THE SAITEK X52 !!! Standard X52 or the X52 pro !!
It works Great. I have been using it for all my pc flight sims and on Ps3 BOP it works smooth as butter. The little analog stick on the throttle controls your look around view and it is perfectly under your left thumb at all times with your left hand on the throttle.
I recomend it to any one any time any place.

Damn. Now I here it! Hmmm. Send the Hostas back when it gets here? Sell it on the forum? Should I even open the box and try it out first? Shit.

Good news I almost bought this stick.... Are you going to start playing with us now?

Desode 12-09-2009 02:37 AM

But my Brand new Bop ps3 disk is messed up and it won't let me do mission 4 , it just freezes my ps3, so I'm trying to figure out another way to get SIM unlocked. Any Ideas ? Does it unlock if I play through the arcade campaign ? Thats what I'm trying to do right now.
I wanted to play some onle Sim tonite ! Damn it !.

I called a couple game places to see if they had another copy because I was going to drop anoth $40 ! but they don't have it for the ps3, I'm going to check walmarts tommorow.

If it has a scratch go get a "disk doctor" and buff the disk.
The only way to unlock it is to complete the tutorials.

Hi,

I have the X52, but even with the patch, the game doesn't seem to recognise it. Setting the controller to any of the other sticks also seems to get no response from the X52. Any tricks to getting it to work?

Thanks!

Hmm, when you are at layout menu make sure to go all the way to the right till Custom (pc Joystick) is highlighted.
I made the mistake of going right to custom at the start and not Custom (pc joystick). Make sure your controller is turned off, before you start the game.

Now when you start the game the center fire button under the Safe shield is the x button and the one to the right of it is the back button.

Once you set it to custom (pc Joystick) in the layout settings then the front main trigger is the x button and the button under the safe shield is back button. Now you can have the ps3 controller on and use it to go through the button config list and then set you controls to what ever you want and save but when your done you have to exit the game. Turn off the ps3 controller and then start the game and use just the stick, If you don't do this it messes up the throttle control. and the throttle won't respond.

Got it ?

Know you can help me !
LOL
I have ran into a problem, I unlocked Sim mode and in the sim training mission they change your zoom to a different button, well now my zoom will not set to any button on Sim mode. Any ideas ? I'm at a loss here. I have tried everything I can think of , I'm reseting the ps3 right now to see if that fixes it. I tried completly remapping the controls once. but I may try it yet again after restarting the ps3.

I know in the controller menu U can set the difficulty under the wireless controller layouts but there is no way to set it to Custom pc joystick, and sim mode like on the controller.

Let me know if your zoom works in sim mode.

I've got the TM Hotas and It's ok for Arcade and Realistic but because the Hat switch isn't analogue you can't look 'over your shoulder'.. at all. You can look left, right, up and down at your instruments.

Other than that it's survived all the abuse and can be seperated so you can have your throttle on your left and the stick part on your right or used as one unit.

Ive been trying you use it in conjunction with a mouse so I can look back but it means you have to let go of the throttle and this isn't ideal especially when you're trying to get someone off your six... (cue sound of metal being pierced..)

I still use it. And I'm getting better at using a mouse lefthanded.

I am the same, I have tried with the gamepad but I want to use the stick. It's just not the same without.

I'm seriously considering getting one of those very small tracker ball type mice and glueing it to the throttle...

Posted this question in the Sticky Joystick Poll thread but deperate to know the answer. Has the patch solved the joystick deadzone problem (if it were a problem with the PS that is)? I haven't seen a single mention of this problem except regards Xbox consoles. Want to know before I go to the darkside......

Ihave the PS3 version and the Thrustmaster HOTAS, and you can adjust the dead zone, although I'm not sure if the settings apply to "custom layouts" only:confused:

As it is when trying a custom layout I cant get the game to recognize the stick so gave up and went back to the default "thrustmaster 2" layout. The dead zone does seem to be better, but not sure if this is due to my settings or if the patch adjusted it for anyway for default settings!!

And whilst I'm here, does anyone use the x52 and can confirm the free look function works, not too concerned about zoom as I dont use it, just want a better option for looking about over the Thrustmasters limited up/down/left/right tophat switch, and using a seperate mouse is better but taking your hand of the throttle isn't ideal ;)

Martinho 12-13-2009 12:06 PM

Yeah the thumb mouse on throttle is free look

Excellent, but when I used a mouse to look, you had to click and hold the left mouse button to free look and releasing the left button took you back to "straight ahead" viewing.

Looking on youtube at reviews of the x52 it seems the left mouse button is just behind the cursor control toggle, can this be reassigned as it looks a bit awkward to hold this in whilst free looking?

DH1979.... where you on PS3 last night playing team battle on sim? sicily game hosted by MACADAMIA, if so twas fun, death/kill ratio for me was 11-1 LOL!! sure I saw someone called Dinho

Dead zone on Thrustmaster gone, including throttle - not need to adjust standard TM option. PC sticks allow deadzone adjustments -- worked well on my cyborg evo ff stick. Only down side to TM and my PC stick is not being able to check six in sim mode, which is a bit a disaster. nyone May have to get a THIRD stick (aviator) to address this. Anyone want a TM or Cyborg ff stick??

Sorry guys if this has been asked before but, I didn't feel like reading thru 3 pages of posts.

With the new patch, has a list been given of joysticks that can run on PS3 now?

Thanks,

F_3

Not that I know of, maybe it would be worth starting a thread where people can confirm that certain sticks work and maybe making it a sticky, according to others on here Saiteks X52 works.
