Greetings all,

The gods decided to bless me with both an RROD AND throw my MBP in a tizzy so I have been gone from the BOP community. I return to find it in chaos. What the hell is going on with this patch?!? Die hard fans are abandoning this game at an astonishing rate. I have yet to find a game on realistic with more than one person AND MW2 comes out tomorrow :(.

Is there any hope for this game?

MW2 is on the 10th I'm pretty sure. ;)

And I like to think there's still a bit of hope left down there somewhere. It's not like I can be one of those "yeah this sucks I'm going back to 1946" guys.:(

Most are just fed up waiting for a patch that may never come out...

Daylight savings is awesome.:) I felt so great all day today because it felt like I had gotten an extra hour of sleep.:)

*achem* Slightly more in the general direction of the topic, if BoP really does go under (god forbid!), are there still alot of guys out there playing Ace 6? That seems like a great game to get into for some modern jet action. If it's still got a good community it might make a good fail safe for me.

Still, I'm really hoping this whole thing will just blow over with the arrival of the patch.:)

look at it this way
ofdr came out way after bop and look at the chaos on there forums over the bugs that game had anybody would think codemasters had raped and killed you grandmother!!!!
but guess what they said a patch was on its way last week and today they released a post saying its been passed by sony and microsoft and will be avalible in the next few days
they actually cared about the fact that the game was broken in parts and customers were upset about it so they got things moving and got the patch out before too much damage was done

now why cant 505games do that the devs made the patch for them with there own money so it hasnt cost 505 a dime to make and yet nothing no statments they dont answer emails nada nill nothing
doesnt look good does it ???:evil:

oh and matt i got ace combat 6 and there are loads of games on there still mate ive never failed to get into a match within minutes buddy looks like that is gonna be the only flight sim option for 360 users only thing i dont like about ace 6 is the 86 missiles and unlimeted guns etc kinda spoils it abit but still a great game to get into and most of the action ive had online has been up close and personal no shooting at black specs from 20 miles away :grin::grin:

Ace Combat as NOT a flight sim, not by any stretch. BoP isn't really a flight sim either but at least it is an attempt, albeit a flawed one.

I totally agree. I sold AC6 after a few weeks. It doesnt even come close to BoP.

that maybe true but at least it works and you can find games to join online unlike bop where i could sit around for hours to maybe find 2/3 games have a very limited choice of planes as most of them dont fly like they should


BOP = long tedious hours trying to find a game but when you do its very good fun

ACE6 = instant fun online loads of planes to choose as they all work correct

i wasnt bashing bop and trying to big up ace6 i was simply answering mattd question regarding ace6 :(

Have you actually done research on the planes in AC6? I'm guessing that a lot of it won't work out to be correct. I've tried the online multiplayer, but it's just like BoP Arcade: you won't stall, you can turn as sharply as you want, and it's obvious to see where everybody is.
For me AC6 online is rubbish, although I like the SP (inverse of what I normally like :P).

Ace 6 definitely isn't realistic, that's pretty much an undisputed fact I think. But it should be pretty fun for an alternative when I can't get a game on BoP and need a flight "sim" fix on my 360. ;)

Really, you don't think the sim mode of BoP is truly a Sim? It seems pretty simmy to me. What makes it not a sim to you?

Kind of hard to define 'real sim'. For recreational use BoP is sim enough for me, and I do believe it's in the sim category. Of course it can't be compared to a FNPT II sim, like some people want it to be.

funny but i dont remember actually saying ace6 was a realistic sim ???
i remember saying it is fun to play and you can allways find a game online without waiting ages tho ??

oh and come to think i did mention the realism of ace combat the point i made about it being unrealistic becuse you start of with 80 odd missiles and unlimited guns !!!

maybe you should do some reaserch before you decide to jump on everybodys post with your holyer than tho attitude ???

Calm down, cowboy. Wasn't attacking anyone, sorry if you felt I did. Was just commenting on the "all planes work correct" part. I don't have any facts, but I'm guessing the planes work just as correct in AC6 as in BoP.

As a reaction on the personal attack: find 5 posts in which I complain it's in the wrong thread, and find 5 posts in which I think the OP shouldn't have created the thread because it's a double. Good luck.
As for the mod comment: I can see how people think that, excuse me for wanting a nice forum. The only people that really seem to mind are those that my comments are aimed at. If there's others, feel free to not post it on the forums.

What happened when you were away?... reading the replies in this thread at least tells you what it did to the people :rolleyes:

A flight sim is a tool designed to train pilots in correct procedures by acurately "simulating" aircraft performance and handling characteristics. BoP, while it is lotsa fun, in no way replicates an actual aircraft. Take spin recovery, for example. In most aircraft, particularly a high powered prop driven one, the 2 steps in spin recovery are 1) power to idle and 2) opposite rudder. In many cases the plane simply flies itself out once power is reduced. BoP probably requires a different technique because the rudder and throttle are so difficult to employ seperately in the game, so it is understandable. Just don't try the BoP technique in a real plane (ouch!) LoL. But why are so many of the flight models so messed up? Why does the Spitfire try to snap roll every time you pull any G, when anyone who ever flew the real thing claimed that it "had no vices" ? Why does the FW190 Butcher Bird fly like a piece of bird crap? Please understand that I am NOT trying to bash the game, it is in fact one of my favorites. I just think that a true "Flight Sim" should be closer to the real thing. BoP is a toy, and that's fine 'cause we like toys. BoP is in fact a lot more fun than most "simulators" that I've dealt with in the past LoL

If you don't like the Spitfire's handling, turn down the elevator sensitivity about 5 notches in the options menu, and you will end up with a plane that will hardly ever stall and can out turn a La7 easily. Can't fix the Dora9 though, because it is rather slower than it should be, and even with the elevator sensitivity turned down it is vicious to fly, but hopefully this is one of the planes that is going to have its flight model fixed in the patch.

Come to think of it, most if not all the planes are slower than their real life counterparts, but some (P51D, Spit II, Hurri II etc) are outrun by planes that should be considerably slower.

It was just that I was so let down by the AC6 storyline and flightmodel, after high hopes after seeing the delicious graphics from the preview shots and videos.

Maybe I was missig out bigtime not exploring it online :)
